  1. 15 degrees is the average winter maximum here. The winter minimums get around 1 deg.
  2. 15 degrees and in shorts?! That's crazy! I'd be in sweats and a jacket!
  3. It's a shame that the Eclipse was never sold here. Such a pretty vehicle. I think I saw a Mitsubishi 3000GT once, obviously imported. JKeaton, how much does it cost to register all of those vehicles? Our registrations are around $600 per year here (depending on the size of the engine)
  4. my 3 year old can close the doors on our DJ. My driver door rattles though because a desperate local decided that my car looked like it would have some spare change in it and smashed the window. They didn't find the change though because they didn't look under the tray in the centre arm rest! The glazier obviously didn't vacuum up all of the errant pieces of glass in the door cavity.
  5. Yowsa! That's almost AUD$2 per Litre! Our fuel prices have dropped markedly in the last 6 months for 91RON. I fueled up this morning and (with a coupon and in store promo) managed to get fuel for 86.4c/L; I haven't paid that little per litre in nearly 20 years! Even longer if you count inflation! For the last several years it's been hovering around $1.30 1.3 * 3.78 =~ $5 per gallon

  7. From the album: Blindy's Journey in 2015

note the parking brake is on the wrong side and although it's not visible here, the bonnet/hood release is still on the passenger side of the vehicle.
  8. it was around 97 here the other day. I believe gazjoureny has it even worse over on the east coast.
  9. I let the dealer deal with it. They replaced, under NC warranty, the Bluetooth module with one they happened to have on the shelf. Here's hoping it doesn't happen again because the gentleman said that the part is worth $1200! I did find the battery under the fuse box and the jump start terminals bolted to the side of the engine bay. That will be fun to change when the battery goes!
  10. Gaz it's probably because the standard options on the comparable vehicles here (Craptiva, Territory) fall woefully short for the price you pay on a DJ. Xtrail ST-L is a decent choice but that is only a 4cyl with a CVT transmission. I've found the Dodge to be a happy middle ground.
  11. So this problem has reared its ugly head for me too. Is there a visual step by step guide for getting to the battery on this site? Or does anyone know of any handy links? I have got an appointment with the dealership next Weds but would like to try this first, that way if it happens again I can tell them that it won't fix it permanently. The warranty expires in September this year. I hope it doesn't wait until October to happen again! Should I just take it to a dealer, have them do the computer reset and if the problem happens again after the warranty expires I can point out that it the vehicle has been in for this existing problem? Would that gain any traction? It was a private sale so I don't think I am covered by the regular Australian Consumer Law as it only applies to businesses selling goods and services. Sorry for rambling
  12. wouldn't wider wheels ruin your fuel economy due to increased friction? They certainly increase road noise.
  13. I'm also sick of the skinny lights on a lot of new styled cars. I like my car's eyes to be big and wide. (Obligatory: "unlike my women AMIRIGHT??") (Clarification: Big and wide in general, I can find beauty in all cultures)
  14. Wow... ok my turn. 1982 Holden Camira JB - My first car in blue. It never drove the same after I ran it off the road being silly. but it did run for a good few years after that. 1985 Toyota Cressida. - It was luxury back then but the window buttons broke when you so much as looked at them. 1985 Nissan Bluebird - This one was bright yellow so we called it a Canary. Thus ended my affair with ugly boxy cars when I got a job that allowed me to buy a 3YO... 2000 Mitsubishi Magna TJ sedan - I loved this car and had it until 2013. It was just coming up to 200k km and the platinum plugs along with rocker cover gaskets, new mufflers and timing belt all needed doing and tallied up to over 3/4 of the market value of the vehicle to keep it running happily. It has a transverse V6 engine so needed to be pulled out to work on the back plugs and rocker cover. 2003 Honda Jazz - for the missus, we still have this car and it hasn't missed a beat. 1999 Ford Fairmont AU Ghia - Drove this around for a bit because the in laws retired and moved to the city and wanted a smaller car. I took it off their hands for a song after the Magna but only had it for 6 months. It had a thirsty 4L straight 6 married to a 4 speed automatic. It only started in Neutral and had failing LED display that only kinda worked if the temperature was between 20-25 degrees C outside. It was also as ugly as a sack full of sphincters. I had no love for this car. 2013 Journey SXT - The whole family loves this car.
  15. That's probably because phone books are as rare as hens' teeth these days, right?
  16. Welcome! That is an eclectic list of mostly small cars! And a brilliant idea for a thread in the lounge (IMHO).
  17. That reminds me of this famous (in Australia) story of sledging in Cricket: "Douglas Jardine (England Captain) had appeared at the door of the Australian dressing room, objecting that he had heard himself described as a "bastard" on the field. Vic Richardson, the vice-captain, turned to his team. "All right, which one of you bastards called this bastard a bastard?"

    Back!

I would have thought the electricity would power a heating coil of some kind... Similar to a brew belt but on a larger scale

    Back!

I'd never even heard of these. I learned something today!
  20. I've never blown a seal... it was just icecream
  21. yes... yes they will. When I bought mine (private sale) it had two 235s on the front, they're now on the back because the back ones were shot (figuratively speaking). Good pick up!
  22. my dad used to tell us to stop breathing when the windows fogged up back in the day. Other than that, I can't help. And welcome!
