Wife just called and told me the turn signal is out, so I haven't had a chance to check it myself yet...maybe it's 'out' as in 'I hit a deer and it's missing' but I'm assuming it's just dead. What's the procedure for changing it - screws from the outside or a godforsaken event moving things in the engine compartment? My searches on it came up empty.

Persistently blowing power steering hose
RodOracheski replied to RodOracheski's topic in Engine & Transmission
My parent's Journey had the power steering hose blow again. Took three days to get fixed because of *gasp* a shortage of hoses. I wonder if they realize it's an issue yet. -
Persistently blowing power steering hose

My Journey was in twice for the blown power steering line. Fixed same day both times. My parents bought a 2010 RT as well and they've had their power steering hose go as well. When the guy arrived to tow it to the dealer, he said he'd just dropped off another with the same problem. Obviously there's some kind of issue with the lines, at this point. I don't think taking it to the dealer and having them top it up every day would be an acceptable solution. My parents Journey was pouring fluid out as fast as it was poured in, so you'd be driving 'dry' in no time. -

Any link showing the recall? I didn't hear anything about it. -
Persistently blowing power steering hose

The service guy said the line is rupturing. I asked if it was the clamp or fitting, thinking there might be a heavier duty one they could try. -
I like the de-badging. Not so sure on the blackout tails, I'd have to see them in action. What kind of difference do the parking lights provide?

The only thing I really don't understand is that if the Journey is really as popular as Dodge claims, and by looking at all of them cruising the streets here I'd say they're not exaggerating their claims by much....why are the tires still so freaking scarce? If this is a top-selling model, why isn't some tire company jumping to be the main supplier of rubber? It's a captive market!

Will any CAI fit for a 3.5 V6 Journey?

I'm not sure what forum this belongs in, but it seems the best fit for here so here goes. My wife called me a week and a half ago to tell me that the Journey was acting "weird" Yeah...great info, honey. I get home and start it up and can hear what she means. Sounds like the power steering pump, and backing the vehicle up a couple feet shows me a puddle. Take it to the dealership and they fit it in the afternoon schedule. They say it's a blown hose, not uncommon in the ridiculously cold weather we've been having, routinely minus 20-30 (celsius). Last night I command start it and hear the same ungodly racket. Check underneath and sure enough, it's blown the hose again. Twice inside a month, that's not good. I've been careful with it, and told my wife to be as well, not to crank the steering wheel too much when it's cold...even though that shouldn't be necessary. There should be no way you can build up enough pressure, even with cold fluid, to blow the line consistently. Anyone else have this issue?

Haven't had an issue with the brakes or alarm on ours yet, 20k in. The Journey was replacing a Mazda that had the same problem though, the alarm would go off in the middle of the night randomly. It would reset just by hitting the button though, and after a week or so I just started hitting the button on the remote without getting out of bed. I doubt I even woke up a couple times lol The problem turned out to be a loose/frayed wire and loud (usually bass) stereos. If someone drove by with loud tailpipes or a booming stereo and it vibrated the wire just the right way it'd go off.

If you're getting the runaround from both the dealership and the tire manufacturer, you go to the dealer and tell them that if they won't help you your next stop is going to be the local TV station/newspaper, and then the Better Business Bureau to file a complaint.

Besides the ones you listed, I love the thought put into storage, which is why we bought it instead of something from Mazda or Ford in the first place. Under-seat storage on the passenger side, door storage on both, under-floor in front of the back seats.... How they used available dead space really stood out. I also like the rear-seat mirror wraparound. Handy for keeping an eye on the two kids in the back.

Are you sure it's on and not auto? The auto lights don't chime, from what I can recall. If you have them ON, not AUTO, then it'll chime if you open the door.

When my parents were looking for a new vehicle, I recommended the Journey. Let them borrow it for a day and they wound up buying the same unit, in a different colour. I don't have any experience with the 2009 model, but if the driver would recommend it and since he's a guy you should be able to trust I'd say go for it.

I stretched mine out now, down to the grill and through (but just barely). It's just a stub sticking out from between two slats now, I had to wait until it was warm (the last four or five days have been great) so I could bend the grill a little to slip the plug end through. No banging on the sides anymore, but it's a little harder to plug in (not much slack to maneuver the plug).

Pretty much the same fuel story here, though our town driving is around 19. It's a lot of stop and start driving, with nothing over a two or three minute drive away so that really hurts the fuel economy - plus my wife has a weakness for command start heating the vehicle... We've had ours over a year now and the only problem was a power steering hose blew in the start of the cold weather. My wife didn't notice until she was out of town and stopped to call me. Roadside assistance towed it to the dealer and it was fixed the next day.

I wrap the cord around the hood support, so only a small bit dangles out. I need to find a better location, but it's too freaking cold out to stand there fiddling with it.

The video of me just matting the accelerator is up, but like I said it doesn't do a great job with the sound. I wanted to do it with windows open or standing on the side of the road as someone drove by, but it's too freaking cold and windy out.
-
I like it sooo much more now. The shifting is greatly improved, especially under hard acceleration. As for sound, it's not much different down low, but above 2500-3k RPM it has a much throatier sound. I might use my camera to record it tonight and see if it shows the difference well enough to post.

If you wait until after the 2011 arrive, you'll definitely get a lower price on the 2010. If it's not critical, I'd wait and see what prices do. They're going to want to get them off the lot, so time is on your side.
