That bl**dy car alarm!!!
malnik replied to duggy1981's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
Yes its a problem. Well known by dealers. There are 2 issues, the first is the most common, its all down to the interior movement sensors for the alarm. There is a replacement kit from the dealer that will solve it....it did mine, I'm surprised yours hasn't been done already. Until the second problem developed. Its identical symptoms...only the key fob doesn't turn it off. In fact the key fob does nothing! Dealer can't find anything wrong. Have to carry a spanner with me to undo one of the power feeds to reset the internal gubbins.....I had it down to about 45 seconds at the end, but its no good at 2am! Long story short....now got rid of it, couldn't risk the alarm and no way to reset it. Got a very very good deal....it was a 59plate....I wonder if you bought it!!! (But I miss my Journey and would buy the Fiat if it comes here!). -
Goreystilen.... I am sure yr post contained lots of info. Sadly i didnt understand a word. And having problems with a valve, I wish i had understood it. I shall ask in the Touareg forum what it all means to me as a Dodge owner!!!

Parking Brake (Hand Brake) Poor ?
malnik replied to Jammie Dodger's topic in Brake, Chassis & Suspension
Yes, UK here and its not good. It works but requires a lot of force and being on the wrong side of the centre console, it seems I pull it sideways as well. I also seem to have the opposite problem as well, it sticks. Not the designed in stick on for a few seconds, mine is a stuck on when you leave the car and return after a few hours/days. Been back and apparently its fine according to my dealer. -
Only about 20,000 of us. Its a known issue. take it to the dealer and they should replace the wheels. I'm on my second full set. Its all down to the lacquer being a bit dodgy because its been made 'green'. They dont use it any more.

What a huge variation on brake life. Some covered by warranty at higher Kms then others in the same country on lower kms. There has to be a solution here.....the fact some are covered while others arent shows they are not treating everyone the same. And in my opinion, under consumer law in all the countries we have represented here, they have to treat all equal unless they can show a valid reason why not to do so. AUD850 plus the service costs adds up to a huge cost per km and that puts it well above anything else in its class. Brakes usually out in 12k? .....pls explain!

Surely its still under warranty? Its a Diesel and they are all under 3 yrs. Take it back.

I take it you wrote that whilst still in the car at 75mph and bluetoothed it somewhere....with those miles and time of ownership i doubt you ever actually get out of it!!! Nice report though, here in UK we dont get yr engines so may not get the symptoms in the auto box you report. And if i got 23 average MPG i'd cry......I aim for 40!

53 yr old living in Suffolk, England. 3 kids this time round, 2, 5 and 12. Married 3 times, (not my fault...its that 'love' thing!), got 10 kids in total scattered over the planet! In contact with them all and their Mothers who when i visit i stay with with! Nomadic by nature, lived in many different places and have been in UK this time 10 yrs which is too long and i'm thinking its time to move on! My wife isnt! I commute to London each day and when i'm on shift i am responsible for keeping one of the Underground lines moving in London. Sometimes in winter i never see daylight for days on end. Our building is secure and mostly underground.

Its not a design fault. As stated above, its common. If you open a window, the air tries to get in and when eventually the inside pressure is high enough to overcome the force of the wind past the window, it 'pops' out. And then does it again. and again And again All cars will do it unless they are not air tight....hence open the other window a little and the pressure doesnt build. I am surprised you havent come across this before.

Its a spy camera connected to the Pentagon to check you arent doing anything naughty. And if you do they send a letter and tell you off, asking you not to do it again.

I understand it is in the mirror on the bottom edge so it reads the brightness you as the driver can see. Mine is very slow to react.

Mine has a few minor problems but its not caused me any major concerns. My dealer tries very hard but are basically innefective. My only problem i'd like resolved is that i wasn't told it sat for 15 months before i got it...it was made 06/08 and i took delivery in 09/09. I wouldnt have bought it if i had known that......for 2 reasons, first is that being one of the first made i wonder if they knew what they were doing...ie go practice on someone elses car!!! Secondly, sitting for so long surely cant be good for it. For example, we all know a/c compressor should be run regularly to lube the seal, mine sat for 15 months.....Chrysler have refused to comment so far.....
