2020 Dodge Journey Arrives this fall - No Changes.
Armando G replied to chazmosis's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
What a shame. I was hoping to pass my 15 down to my kid and get a new model next year...NOT if it's a 2.4. Had a dream of a 3.6 AWD with 19" in wheels and a 8.4 screen w/bluetooth. So freakin' disappointed, my DJ has been great for us. Might have to become an EXPLORER on this next Journey (see what I did there). -
Here is the general answer to you overflow from the reserve tank - an answer I wish I would of listened to on one of my last cars... The coolant in the engine has the job of removing heat from the engine and releasing the heat by way of the radiator. The coolant is circulated by the coolant pump. If there is a pressure created internally other than the coolant system creates, it can prevent this flow. If coolant is coming out of the overflow it is overheating. Coolant system failure can be a slow process until the signs are hard to ignore. Running the coolant fans are just masking the problem. Antifreeze has a time limit before it needs replacing, five years is the maximum time allow. If the vehicle has been overheated to a damaging point it can crack the engine’s cylinder heads causing a pressure to enter the coolant system. This will stop or slow the flow rate of the coolant pump which will cause a overheating condition. There are tests that can be preformed to confirm this. This is one of your first signs that something is wrong...or you just way over-filled your radiator. If you drive it and the temp goes to over half (definitely 3/4), turn your heater on to high as a simple test.

That's what I was going to say... but I got 2.69%

Guess the problem fixed itself???

First and only thought... corrosion somewhere in the cables or fuse box. If the battery is fine and the connectors are clean and fit nice and tight, check the other end. If the negative ground looks good, remove it and clean it anyway. Check the main power cable to the fuse box for corrosion. Start there and then move on to search for a faulty connection.

@DJgirl, thank you for expanding on what was done (or supposed to be done) on your service. Knowing the entire braking system was being serviced, sure clarifies your suspicion. Regardless of what they say, tell them you want the bigger brakes re-installed... like you previously had. I can see them looking up the VIN and just using the standard replacement although you may have had the upgrade. I had a similar situation with my old Explorer and the alternator. Mine had all the extras that required the 'bigger' alternator, but they installed the compatible basic one. Those bigger brakes make a difference.

Using smaller brakes would entail completely changing out everything, not just the pads. Why in the world would a dealership do that? I would be curious to see a before and after picture, if you happen to have one from before you went to get them done. Maybe your brakes had converts that weren't put back on... and made them look bigger.

This is what it supposedly means... The 3 overlapped cars is the status of the XM traffic subscription. If it is green, the sub. is active; if it turns orange/red it is not active or didn't receive the signal. The traffic service overlays the red, yellow, green lines on the roads to indicate traffic speeds and the incident screen will tell you what is going on where. Cute way of showing your signal strength.

2012 Dodge Journey SXT Clicking Behind Glove Box
Armando G replied to Andrea A's topic in Climate Control
@lemdog, I'm curious... after you replaced it, did the sound stop or just soften? I've been in a couple of cars aside from my DJ, and the clicking is just part of starting the car. You can usually also here it a bit if you turn the car off and sit in it for a while. As long as the vents are working correctly, the clicking should not be an actual problem (anyone correct me if I'm wrong). -
I had one sensor go bad two years into owning my DJ. After trying to fix it myself, I took it in and got it replaced... one year later, no problems. My mechanic showed it to me and it had a little crack on it. It's not really common, but it happens. If the rest are fine, your main module should be fine.

I just watched Christine... and that's how it all started Sorry, couldn't resist.

Google search...

More information please. I have no idea what this entails.

Welcome and congrats. From a van to the DJ, sounds like a family car. I specifically went with the 3.6 because of the family trips and tow capacity for the family toys since my previous van only had the 3.0 engine that was a bit under powered in my opinion. Regardless, enjoy the new ride.

Moral of the story, don't drive off before getting down and taking a look at your drain nut. I've used a quick change place for my work truck and never had an issue, but I do watch what they are doing (maybe just been lucky). I know it sucks when these guys screw up, but I've also forgotten to replace something when doing my own repairs Undo and redo...ugh!

Congrats!!! How about some pics?

Is it that much different? Obviously I'm not familiar.

Don't forget to get a new gasket in case that's the problem. It may be included with the pan, but then you can't return it.

Found a great site with another guy wanting to lower his DJ. You might want to start there. There's even a link there

Center console 12V outlets not working
Armando G replied to GShealy's topic in Electrical, Battery & Charging
Then hopefully it was just the electrical gremlins starting with you. I'd mention it regardless, next fuse to go out might affect something more important. Regardless, glad it worked out. -
Welcome and congrats. Get those pics posted and hopefully you get a chance to enjoy the new ride as well

That's a big negative for Carmax. Great job getting it taken care of. Stick with the Dodge dealer while under warranty. I would actually have the a dodge dealer check fuse box for corrosion while you're doing the recall item. -
Welcome, and just like you, this is my first Dodge. Been 3 years now and I'm really happy with my choice. Been a great family car and a fun get around car for me. My Journey hasn't needed much at all and it's performed better than expected.
