  1. Wonder what the original poster of this thread did? Or if it was ever resolved successfully?
  2. Not trying to be totally rude, but do you guys do a web search before posting these questions? There are a few videos on how to remove the grill fascia and/or bumper (depending on what you are talking about). There is even something on this forum concerning the grill fascia.
  3. Call the dealer and let them know what happened, then drive it right back to them.
  4. Welcome and congrats. What kind of Jeep did you have? Why not get another Jeep? I went from an Explorer to the DJ, and it's been a good transition for me.
  5. Any chance you took pictures of their location while you were down there? And congrats on getting it fixed.
  6. Am I reading it right? It can connect directly to your tow wiring harness? Then your blinkers and reverse will work as well? Very interesting...
  7. Very nice. Did you snap the picture after a long day of negotiating and paperwork (night shot)?
  8. Instead of trying to guess, I would either go to another Doge/Chrysler dealer to have it diagnosed, or keep trying to get a hold of yours. I don't know how much weight I would put on any shop telling me to wait until something worse happens (in essence what they said), before doing anything. At that point it may become a very expensive fix while it may be a simple solenoid or valve at this point. Only way to tell is probably by getting it to a dealer and at least getting their diagnosis.
  9. Thanks for the update, really appreciate it. Glad it got resolved for you. I'm assuming that although the mileage was below the max, it wasn't covered under the powertrain warranty because it was past the 5 year limit?
  10. Welcome to the forum. Hope it is a help for your issues (and the wifey issue). Anyway, I dealt with the same type of A/C issue on another car of mine, but I believe the solution should be the same. Mine was the idle control valve, but there could be other causes. If it is idling fine when the A/C is off, there is probably directly related to the unit itself. Hopefully this helps you out (good luck)... Common reasons for this to happen: Carbon Buildup: A number of engine components are subject to carbon buildup over time, and this can place a significant load on the engine. When the additional load of your AC compressor is added, it causes the computer to miscalculate and increase idle speed too much. Common sources of carbon buildup include the IAC valve, the EGR valve, and the throttle body. Low Refrigerant in the AC System: If your AC system is low on refrigerant, it will make the compressor cycle on more frequently, increasing the load on your engine. Failing AC Compressor: If your AC compressor is beginning to fail, this can also add to the surging problem. Bad Belt: One often overlooked cause of a car surging with the AC on is actually a worn compressor belt. If the belt is stretched or worn smooth, it can slip during operation. This places significant strain on the engine and the AC system. Replacing the belt often eliminates the surge, and ensures better AC operation. Bad AC Cycling Switch: The AC cycling switch controls the compressor cycling pattern. Over time, it can go bad. When this happens, it will place a significant load on the engine and can lead to surging. Overfilled AC System: While low refrigerant can cause problems with your AC and engine surging, an overfilled system can cause the same problem. Refrigerant must be “just right” or you will experience a number of different problems.
  11. Welcome to the forum. DJ looks good. Is that a business or home (or both)?
  12. Welcome. Any plans on buying another DJ?
  13. I'd really love to see a follow up from Powdered Toast Man since he posted here and in the Trailer section concerning this issue. Wonder if his issue ever got fixed?
  14. Glad it's resolved...not sure what pumping gas into it has to do with it? Hope it stays off.
  15. You can Google, "Dodge Journey Reset Check Engine Light" and you will see a few results on how to reset it yourself. If you fix the probably and reset the light, you will find out if there is something wrong if the light comes back on. You do not necessarily have to go to the dealer.
  16. I'll assume your past your warranty period, or you would of just taken it to the dealer. If so, have you thought about taking it to a parts store that will do a CEL check for free? This will let you see if their machine works on your car (and maybe tell you why it won't work), and if they can clear the code. Our local Auto Zone or Aamco does a free check.
  17. I usually do (did) the same until I did a full flush on my other car when it hit 100K. I was shocked what came out. Glad you got it all out though.
  18. Out of curiosity, were you changing the coolant? If so, you should do a full flush and not just replace the 4 litres you drained. Otherwise there's really no point.
  19. Thanks for the update, hopefully it continues to work properly. A 'Love Tap' usually means something loose in my world. Side note - If you're coworkers want you to switch, tell them to start a Go Fund Me account for you..
  20. Usually you have to clear the code regardless of the repair being done, at least in my experience. If the code comes back after being cleared, then you will definitely know if there are other issues. Here is one method (should work on a 2012 model)...
  21. Bramfrank, I completely feel your frustration and did have a very frustrating instance with another dealer (Ford, not Dodge). With that said, I will throw in that there are some very honest, reputable dealers. I have been taking my DJ to Putnam Doge in the Bay area, California and have had no issues (to this point). I did not buy the car there, but they are the closest, most convenient dealer to my location, and they have been excellent. I have been there for my recall notices, warranty items, and basic maintenance items and have not had any issues. I have brought it in for minor issues and they have helped me with no problem. If anything additional comes up, they call me right away and ask what I would like to do and offer a secondary solution. Just feel that we should be fair and give praise to the good ones out there knowing that there are some not too positive ones. I do agree that everyone should know their rights and question anything you do not feel comfortable with.
  22. Got my oil changed, TPMS thing replaced on the front passenger tire, and my recall done today before heading out on our first summer trip. I'll definitely use my Cruise Control so figured I better get it done before the trip. Took about an hour and might just be a mental thing, but the car feels better than before it went in. She must be happy with the work.
