Installing Backup Camera
Armando G replied to LKMS's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
Great job taking the extra steps. Would love to see a picture of it in action. I never use Amazon, but it says that's not available for delivery to my area (the US). Assuming it's a Canadian product? -
2017 Dodge Journey SE annoying suspension rattle.
Armando G replied to Ken Brown's topic in Brake, Chassis & Suspension
Just to mention, and not sure about yours, but it seems to be almost impossible to duplicate the sound when standing still. Good luck to all of us. -
Need more info...continuous white smoke or just got a few seconds/minutes? White smoke from the engine compartment or exhaust? Is it also over heating? Worse case scenario, cracked block (have experience with that). Best case, something was spilled and just burning off.

Recall T47 - airbag wiring
Armando G replied to bfurth's topic in Recalls & Technical Service Bulletins
I never received a notice, but when I logged into my Mopar account online, there it was. It said a notice had been sent out...WHERE??? Anyway, if you haven't received a notice, you can check online. Have your VIN handy. -
2017 Dodge Journey SE annoying suspension rattle.
Armando G replied to Ken Brown's topic in Brake, Chassis & Suspension
Same issue here, no solution from dealer. Even argued they couldn't hear it when I first brought it in. Was assured it wasn't a safety concern so I have been living with it. I will put in a complaint to Chrysler, as I hope everyone else does as well. Maybe then they will realize it is a bigger issue then they say. BTW...I have sprayed a few points as advised in the forum, but it seems to be a semi, short solution. -
Great notes, thanks. Now for the big question...did it solve your issue? Did you also have the squeaking when going over bumps before you did the job? Did this help?

Strange that this came up. I just got my steering column recall done and the next day my climate control started acting up. I always have it set to sync and for some reason I started her up and it wasn't on sync. Then as I was driving along, I realized my AC was on. I didn't remember turning it on. Finally, when I got in one time, the back fan was blowing on high. Yelled at the kids to turn it down, but they showed me out was on the lowest seeing. I thought it was me, since I was having a crazy week, but now I'm wondering.

Not downshifting at highway speeds
Armando G replied to 2011Journey's topic in Engine & Transmission
So I've had this problem, but not on my DJ. On my Explorer I had a vacuum leak that did not allow out to downshift in a timely manner. Ultimately out was an $11 fix after being told I needed a transmission rebuild. On Dodge products I've seen this issue with a bad solenoid, a vacuum leak, and a computer issue. I would start with the cheaper fix and work my way up. Or bring it into a reputable transmission shop to get it diagnosed. Sorry for no solution, but transmissions have many working parts. Out of curiosity, did you check the fluid temp when it starts acting up? -
Basic rotors and pads package are about $200, performance package is about $350. Not a bad price if you can do the labor yourself (which I do). I was pricing them out when I started to hear some squeaking on mine...turned out to be a bad dust build up. Cheap cost for peace of mind.

Big Congratulations to you. Looks beautiful. Welcome to the forum, a lot of great stuff in here. Already used a lot of advise to help me with a few projects, have a good time reading through it all. Great pic btw.

My own personal feeling, considering you drive that much per week, is to get the rotors turned or replaced. With past experience, once they start vibrating, it can (and will) just get worse. Scary thing coming down a hill with vibrating brakes that don't slow you down. For the sake of your own safety, get them done.

The passenger options you are talking about are pretty obvious to recognize...if you have it. When I was looking for my DJ, one of the ones I was considering did not have that option, but had almost everything else. It was a used model so God knows why the original purchaser didn't add it. The one I did buy does have it, and yes it is a nice feature. On the flip side, in my excitement I forgot to make sure I had the hands free option :-(

Installing Backup Camera
Armando G replied to LKMS's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
OK, got it. Knowing that, yes it is usually recommended to connect to the cigarette lighter (charger port). Adding a relay would give it an added safety. Post some pics, curious to see the screen and function. Good luck. -

Traction Control light on after engine swap.
Armando G replied to Outinthewoodsnf's topic in All Wheel Drive (AWD)
AMEN to that. Sorry, I guess I misunderstood. It does seem crazy that other than just give you the warning, the ABS sensor would cut out the car. Better safe than sorry I guess. -
Traction Control light on after engine swap.

Wait...I'm still stuck on, "She lost power a couple of times on my Gf...". I assume that this was a good deal if that doesn't concern you as much? -
Sounds like a battery issue to me. Most auto parts store will test your battery for free...get it checked to reassure yourself (or convince yourself).

Dogde journey transmission prablem
Armando G replied to Jason Edwards's topic in Engine & Transmission
Fight, argue, email, and call Dodge until they do something about it. Three year old car should not be having all of these issues. disclaimer - unless you just don't maintain it at all or you have put a ton of miles on the car (don't know the mileage)...you never know. -
2012 Dodge Journey Window Issues
Armando G replied to Leo82's topic in Electrical, Battery & Charging
Welcome to the forum. From past experience, and if the window works if you connect an external battery(?), this usually means your battery is not fully charging or you have a bad connection somewhere (possibly corrosion). My last vehicle was doing the same where my driver window would not roll up sometimes (I spent weeks sliding it up by hand) and my others rolled up slower than molasses. I also had the dimming lights when I used the turn signal, which was the biggest clue to the battery. Once I changed the battery, window speed was great, unfortunately, driver's window stopped completely. The wiring going through the door had been pinched and eventually corroded really bad. Replaced that part, insulated the harness at the door, and back to normal. You could also need to lubricate the rollers/tracks because they do dry out. And if you are really adventurous, you could fix the window motor itself because they do dry out and the plastic pieces inside of them crack, break, or wear out (plenty of youtube videos in that). -
Installing Backup Camera
Armando G replied to LKMS's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
LKMS...I guess the question is, have you had it flashed by the dealer in order for the camera to work? From reading all of the posts, you can't just add the camera and expect it to work. You need to go to the dealer and have the car flashed in order to activate (or add) that option specifically to your VIN. I'm curious if you installed an aftermarket camera or the factory camera? Did you have to wire the camera, or did you have the pre-installed wiring? I researched adding the camera to mine, but it seems like a big hassle and expense. -
More details...what model, how many amenities, pictures? Welcome, and congrats!!!

4.3 Radio / U connect

We'll be waiting...thanks Willard. -
Looking good Nickelson, gives the DJ a slick look. Self installed or at a shop?

Have not done it on my Journey but did try it on another previous truck. Was even advised to put a touch of sealant when done. Result...ended up replacing it shortly there-after.
