  1. Whatever happened to a bag of ice? Two bags are cheaper than a new battery... just saying ?
  2. Hmmm...I say battery, maybe, possibly, probably, most likely. When you have to get it jumped... first stop should ALWAYS be to get the battery tested ? Unless you left the lights on...
  3. Your profile shows you have a 2019 model. You should still be under warranty, unless you put a lot of miles on it and depending when it was sold. Have you taken it back to the dealer? 6k over your oil change?!?!
  4. Great job @journey13. Now, can you add a 360 degree backup camera for the trailer you'll probably never tow? That has always peaked my curiosity. I actually get what you're talking about. I work on my kids cars as a hobby when they need it. I refuse to do basic oil changes anymore (except on my bike), but I will jump in on some of the "interesting" stuff.
  5. Good luck bud. I might be right behind you. Keep thinking I've been lucky so far, but I feel things may start going downhill soon. I know I can get a good trade in value, but other SUV's seem so damn expensive. Who knows, I go back and forth. Enjoy the Jeep.
  6. I guess OP changed his mind on getting these installed
  7. @Shari I've had the AC turn itself on when the car is on, and see a lot of those issues but not much when the car is off. If that's the case, then it's most likely a short in the system somewhere. Have you tried removing the AC relay (if the weather permits)? Maybe check the relay? If things are turning on while the car is off, I would suggest going to an electrical expert, or checking your wiring if possible. If the dealer didn't resolve your issue, contact dodge directly. Some issues are hard to diagnose, but if you paid to have it resolved, then they should provide a resolution.
  8. Geezzzz.... these responses seem to be worse case scenarios. How about starting with the basics. Home install of the alternator, could be a loose screw that isn't making good contact (we've all done it). Are the battery terminals nice and tight, and clean? Is the battery itself good? Again, just because it's new, doesn't mean there isn't an issue. Verify what you have done before assuming what it could be. Hopefully it isn't a major item... good luck.
  9. @5rebel9 sounds like your getting more than expected done on the DJ. Hope your kid is right there with you learning a bit about the car (sounds like it's his daily driver). I just re-plumbed my kids kitchen sink and DW in his condo and I had him watch and help so he knew the basics. Ended up buying him a full set of tools for his b-day yesterday because I got tired of lugging my tools every time I came over. And they weren't the cheapie foreign tools like I had when I started ???
  10. @OhareFred, well that sucks. Sounds like you got some changes going on (move and now new car - for your son i guess). In any case, been a pleasure, peek in every once in a while and good luck to you.
  11. @journey13 Looks great ? I've had plenty of those "what the hell" moments and good for you to get it solved. I have the same 4 pin wiring harness, which was relatively easy to install, so I assume the 7 pin was a pain? I assume you have 2 separate commercial to the battery with a separate fuse on each? Or did you combine the two power supplies? In any case, great job...I didn't realize they had a... CURT Manufacturing 58000 Easy Mount Electrical Bracket for 2" Receiver Tube I'll have to take a look for that part.
  12. Nice list of items. I bet you add one or two things ?
  13. I've always torqued mine to two 'ughs' and have never had a problem. I was always told it's the pattern of tightening is more important. That's just me though.
  14. What's that say? ? Hope this works for you. Looks like it's the same as when you install aftermarket trailer lights. I'm curious now because I was looking at also buying an aftermarket backup camera and was told it would connect directly to the reverse lights.
  15. Thanks for all of the specs. Are you saying you will be doing all of this work before your trip? Has she not been keeping up on the regular maintenance, which makes you need to do all of this work? Hopefully she appreciates all of this work (if you are doing it). If you're really nervous, I'd suggest going and renting a car for your trip - I do that every once in a while. In any case, good info... good luck on your trip.
  16. @2late4u - so after all those mix ups, your time on the phone, and the reinstall (multiply your time wasted by x, divide by y, add z ?), you are good to go? I've only used Costco for my tires. They will price match and all come with a full warranty with install. I stop by to get them rotated for free and they have replaced a couple of tires that got punctured... no questions asked. I tried Discount Tires once (there was a huge online discount), had them delivered to the local shop, made an appointment, only to show up and being told they never got them. Canceled and went back to Costco.
  17. Welcome. Depending on the mileage, start with making sure all your maintenance items are up to par then focus on mods. Congrats on the DJ... enjoy.
  18. I would suggest getting roof rails installed and then your options of crossbars will open up immensely. Something you can do yourself or have the dealer install. https://www.jeepchryslerdodgeramparts.com/oem-parts/mopar-roof-rail-right-5116318ac?origin=pla&gclid=CjwKCAjwi9-HBhACEiwAPzUhHL1LOqpRGcekyekhIwkRsFbfmKVXDc-kg6uKzxk2Gvk3lYk1OmuQfRoCPXsQAvD_BwE
  19. Problem, and solution... nice. Thanks for posting what could possibly help others. I like these posts
  20. What he said ? In addition, go back to that mechanic and tell him to stop guessing at what it might be and to really figure out the problem (there are ways to test the system). You can get guesses from a forum... for free.
  21. Did you change the battery yourself because this didn't end up being an insurance claim? Are you not fixing the fender? Was it a hit and run? I'm confused ?
  22. Well, I am one of the lucky ones that had their transmission go out on them while still under warranty in 2019. New tranny installed and coolant flushed at that time. I believe i was in the 40k range at that time, so I am good there. Plugs are on my mind probably because I'm old school. Like I said, car is running great just not used to not doing plugs regularly. I appreciate the advise.
  23. @5rebel9... answer is "NO", to your son. Some background... father of 4 grown adult kids, 3 drivers, numerous cars passed on to my kids and now about half a dozen cars bought by the kids (a couple financed by your truly). Every conversation we have had about cars has started with, "this is a luxury and my only care is that it's dependable and safe". Other than some help with the down payment, they pay their car payment, gas, and insurance (discounted through our policy). Thankfully they have listened to my advise (on the cars at least), but I hold strong when it comes to any part of the cost depending on me - as being their normal mechanic either doing the work or paying for some of it sometimes. I feel what your going through and am here to support you.
  24. I'm curious... why are you looking for brake upgrades? Are you going to be pulling something? Are you having issues? Taking it to the track soon? Might make a difference.
