  1. Welcome!!! Lots of good stuff in here.
  2. MPG... my latest observation in my area (SF Bay Area - over populated). Since purchased, daily average with minimal highway driving, I get around 15 MPG. I work 5 miles away and most driving is within town so no need to get on the highway. When I go on trips I average 24 to 25 MPG, which I am very happy with considering I am not a Sunday type of driver... typical CA 75-80 MPH on the freeway. Since March (Covid Era) my average has gone up to 17.5 MPG - non freeway, with most people around here working from home. Of course I only go to the office twice a week, but my average has surely gone up. Coming from a 11-12 MPG average van, I have nothing to complain about with my DJ, but would definitely like to get to 29 MPG like probak states (guess I could slow down )
  3. I don't have personal experience on this, but you may want to check your battery. If the battery is weak, the security system will kick in and not let you start. Check the charge on the battery to make sure it is good. Plenty of these issues online with Chrysler cars.
  4. I don't think there have been too many upgrades here, but I would guess installing new suspension components would make a big difference. A good suspension shop shop would be able to give you a couple of options on stiffer or softer options and hopefully resolve your issue. Sorry it's not a better answer but let us know what you do.

2012 and never a need for our forum... DJ must be working out great.
  6. Here's another guy painting his... May want to try and contact him.
  7. Wait, first picture = old lights Last picture = me lights They look yellow on the first one, white on the last one. I like the circular look. And what are those other lights in the middle?
  8. This is like the start of a good story... WHAT'S THE ENDING??? What happens when you do this? Or, what should happen?
  9. Well, you started with the basics which is good. Now you have to be thorough. I've learned that a hairline crack, a little corrosion, or even rust can affect a fuse. On the flip side, there might be some corrosion on the fuse box itself that might not be letting it get a good current. See any white crap on there? Don't do anything else until you are positive the fuse is good and you are getting a current to the switch. Otherwise you might be chasing a speculation.
  10. I looked for a video showing installation, but could not find it (would be the reverse) . Yes, you can remove them. You have to remove the headliner to remove them, and there are plugs available for the holes after removal. I believe you take the plastic and on the rails as well to remove the screw. Why would you want to remove them? Unless you just want a clean look and don't use them at all. Might be a plus to keep them on if you ever sell the car.
  11. @5rebel9 - Appreciate the review and glad it's working out for you. Still enjoying my DJ after almost 5 years. As far as fuel, I came from a 13 MPG van to this, so I can't complain. I do get jealous when I see my daughter fill up her tank with $20 and get over 400 miles to empty, but she prefers riding in my car when were together... or if she gets a chance to drive my car. I ran into this car by accident when I desperately needed a car, and definitely don't regret it. I like these positive posts.
  12. Did you search this cool site on the link below? Sounds like a very similar issue with a solution. Other than that, I guess I would ask how did you test the fuse? Put in a new one or just looked at it?
  13. This thread is destined not to be updated by the guys posting to get help. Can we tag them so they are ignored in the future?
  14. I believe if you are under your regular 3yr warranty it is covered. If you are not sure call Dodge directly and ask them (not the dealership). They have to tell you there is a charge just in case you did some aftermarket work that voided the warranty. Did you?
  15. I assume the vehicle was brought to a mechanic before purchase, just 9 days ago? With it being an '09, diesel, and you probably not knowing too much of the history, anything would be speculation. If they have injectors, could be that. If they have fuel filter, could be that. If they have a fuel pump, could be that. Etc,etc,etc... I'm not familiar with diesel, but hopefully you had it checked by someone who is. Go back to the dealer and see what they say.
  16. See if this helps... http://www.dodgia.com/docont-1137.html
  17. I'm curious, is this a small shop mechanic that doesn't subscribe to programs like ALL DATA? Or do they not have that in your area? I would hate for my mechanic to ask me how to fix something in my car.
  18. Well, I was going to give you some input, but... Anyway, thanks for keeping everyone updated... glad you figured it out.
  19. I watched someone do that to a car parked two spots over from me. So I pulled my phone out and video tape him pull out and leave. Left a note on the parked car with the license plate and my number in case he needed the video. He called me about a month later to thank me. Thought it was such BS that the guy could do that. Sorry man...
  20. I would start with basics... - Are your battery connections (terminals) clean and tight - Were the wires and connections to your alternator inspected and cleaned - Does your ground wire have a good connection - And ultimately, is your battery going out My other car just went through this and ultimately the battery was bad. But start with the basics first, then get to testing.
