  1. It seems weird that two solenoids would fail at once. Was this engine neglected with extended oil changes. The vvt solenoids can get plugged up with missed oil changes I have heard.   2. If battery not charging there will be a dash code for low battery. Alternators can get weak, need to confirm amperage capacity. Random horn honk is often TIPM module . http://www.dodgeproblems.com/tipm/
  3. I chased a weird vibration in my brothers 2008 Hyundai Entourage a few years ago (it’s still on road with 260k) and multiple mechanics looked at it, including a former 15 yr dealership mechanic. Eventually I found problem. Motor mounts and wheel balancing etc where all performed. The only hint was that it was worse under load going up hill. Turned out to be the intermediate shaft that is attatched to passenger c/v shaft. Journey has one as well. Might be able to remove from car and feel the extra play in it, without buying it in case it’s not the issue. Car needs to be moving for this to be issue obviously.   4. You may have tried this already....Could be the coil in starter relay is flaky. Mark one in use now and swap with another one.
  5. Welcome to the forum!!! Radio would lose stations but it shouldn’t affect anything else. You didn’t accidently arc out the cables during install, it is a crappy job changing out battery. The negative cable has an expensive current sensor built into the battery clamp, that needs to be handled carefully. If it gets damaged that could prevent starting I think. Pricy dealer only item. If you have a push button start there is a small fuse in the passenger kick panel that if blown will prevent starting. checked fuse F121 in the passenger kick panel it’s for the push button start, they call it wireless control module in owners manual. Put meter on continuity, make sure it beeps when probes across terminals.
  6. One of the more common things to stop a running vehicle is the cps sensor. It can also cause random no starts. Sometimes no code I stored for this issue. Not an expensive part and eventually a wear item on most vehicles.Even oem part is cheap. Usually cps fault shuts off fuel pump and doesn’t stop cranking. But it can be different on some vehicles. Next time there is a no crank, pull the starter relay and make up a jumper wire. On the starter relay the two contacts that show as squiggles or moving contacts should be jumpered for a second. I think it’s 30 and 87 contacts. This bypasses all the safety circuits, so make sure vehicle is in park, even parking brake on. If you still get clicks and no start then the issue is directly related to starter unit. (solenoid, cables etc) If it always turns over with jumper it’s one of the safety/security systems acting up. Like the park neutral switch. One of the ground legs on starter relay I think is the park neutral signal. A proper wiring diagram Would show which one it is. A ground jumper to this contact would temporarily by pass it and prove if it is the problem without actually changing it out. I did this in on old jeep I had with the neutral switch buried inside tranny. Good luck.
  7. Welcome to the forum. How is the battery in the remote, needs to be at least 3 volts, new batteries are normally 3.3. Do you have a second remote to see if it has the same issue? Are all proximity sensors working the same way with the remotes?
  8. Scan for codes to figure out which abs wheel sensor is bad. Then replace sensor and reset with scanner.
  9. The dude should abide with OEM spec fluids (sorry cant resist...I loved that movie). I doubt it, how long was fluid in for. What does fluid look like, it should look the same as when it was poured in. Valvoline May even make the Chrysler oem stuff. My pump had a drip at 100k miles with original fluid. The new fluids are usually an OAT formulation and there is a Chrysler spec number in the owners manual. Check the Japanese spec stuff to see if the Chysler spec is listed on container like on label below. Pics is what I have been using in my 2014 with orange stuff number 11 for two years now.
  10. Can just hook up direct without bothering with dealer. Although trailer brake 7 pin plug you would want dealer flash for controller, trailer over 2,000 pounds requirement.
  11. Looks like there is that style of gasket used on the thermostat assembly, Rock lists this same part as well. Match up what’s already there from the factory. Like OP is saying, go slow and avoid pinching gaskets. Lubricate parts with glycol so they slide together and seal properly.   12. Even if no ecm light, get scanned for codes. Some sensors like gas pedal sending switch, or tps can trigger hard shifts. The additives in transmission oil wear out before the oil does. Could just have the fluid changed out early, see if it helps.
  13. Weird. Can you post pic of old thermostat unit. Was a new gasket used on the surface that is leaking. I would buy new gasket and try again using torque wrench for exact tightness. Atv might function as a temp repair. Newer cars seldom use rtv for gaskets on aluminum surfaces, requires drying time and repairs need to be super fast. Even water pumps come with a special no sealant gasket on newer cars. Or just o ring seals. What looks like atv on engine tranny oil pans is a special factory sealant that dries ready for usage in minutes. Transmissions shops buy the same sealant, very pricy trade only stuff. Oreillys etc dont carry this stuff. Which pic is the leaking assembly.?

  15. Welcome to site. Which engine in the vehicle? What does oil pressure show psi show on cluster when it’s knocking? Any oil leaks from front or rear main seals. That would show crankshaft runout issues. Could try STP to see if it frees up something sticking.

  17. The labor to change it is probably more than the part in a lot of cases. Depending on your local mechanic hourly rate. If you are doing diy or getting rid of car maybe. All brake parts and parts of suspension have to be removed to change front or rear bearings. AWD bearings in rear are specially labor intensive. I like to see Moog Timkin, SKF, one of the big bearing manufacturers on a bearing part. Brown box no name is riskier. Even though a lot of stuff is China (including some factory parts) the quality varies quite a bit IMO.
  18. The same 3.6 engine in Ram 1500 has 305 HP, Journey is 283 and 260 ft/pds torque. Probably different injectors, tuning parameters in ecm different. Might be able to have that changed, would not be cheap and if gov smog tests the catalytic converters might also need changing to pass annual test. Need to check with performance shops.
  19. Oil shouldn’t affect a cam sensor as far as I know. But oil changes are cheap necessary maint. Looks like both sensors are the same, not expensive either.   20. Curious, how many miles/kms when these bearing failures are happening . Rockauto I find is quite good for price and delivery, can find a 5% discount code on line as well. Some bulky heavy stuff shipping makes it too pricy. They also offer OEM parts for various makes. I have no business link to these guys, but have used for years. Returns not easy or core charges unless close to border. Moog front about $130 before shipping of about $14.   21. No more misfire codes is good. There is no mass air flow , you have a MAP manifold absolute pressure sensor. It should set a code if bad. Idle issue is possible symptom. People sometimes clean sensor with intake manifold cleaner. It's cheap about $25.
  22. The newer pentastar 3.6 has a lot of non compatible parts I have read. The new aluminum pan will not fit it sounds like.   23. Kinda confusing. Melted cam sensors may not be from heat, a short which took out fuse under hood could be source of problem. Fuses are designed to protect wiring from shorts, don’t move to a larger fuse without figuring out what is blowing fuses.
  24. My daughter in laws 2.4 CPS went at only 69k miles, but a 2012. Started to randomly die on her, kinda dangerous. I usually do them early on most of my cars. Fairly cheap part so not worth messing around if you are keeping car long term, IMO. I’m surprised car is not boiling over with temp up to 212. If you do drive it, carry some water with you until you change out stat.
