As for the programming a "hi line" for remote start.... I tried to do the same for our 2011 Mainstreet and it would not take either. I suspect that even though I added in the hood safety switch, that the car is not equipped with the rest of the stuff under the dash to activate it, thus the same message. This MAY be a case of TRIM LEVEL an owner is working with, higher trim levels may work fine having the rest of things already installed by the factory. I also have a 2014 SXT that I did successfully program in the remote start function and followed the same steps of this car when trying to do the 2011.

Journey 2009, 2.4 engine, code P0622
5rebel9 replied to jose laprovitera's topic in Electrical, Battery & Charging
Cllear the codes and then give the car 3 good driving cycles {cold to full warm up, approx. 15 miles each} and see if code comes back. You had power disconnected for some time, and computer may need to "reset" itself with a couple of drives. -
That sound/noise you hear is normally associated with low coolant level in the whole cooling system. This noise is from air entrapment in the cooling system. Are you sure you are not loosing coolant as you drive the car? White smoke out the exhaust when you accelerate? This could mean a bad head gasket or even worse a cracked cylinder head or engine block. Also I am not sure of which engine size you are working with,. Did you post that somewhere? Each engine size has it's own particular "quirks".

ALMOST ? I'd say that you are progressing fantastically {wow big word} ! I'll show my age and liken you to a Dick Van Dyke movie character from the movie Chitty Chitty Bang Bang of inventor Potts , who put that remarkable vehicle together! -
Brake pedal assembly issue or BCM
5rebel9 replied to ValleyPerfAZ's topic in Brake, Chassis & Suspension
Good to hear that you got it "sorted out" with a pedal assembly. Sure seems like a "fluke" failure as my 3 Journeys have not encountered this problem and all are '14 and older with above 150K miles. But yes if the parts associated with the brake light switch are worn, then it can never consistently do it's job correctly. Nice find and fix to your problem! Keep in touch with us here. -
Aftermarket Headunit
5rebel9 replied to PatRock1983's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
That looks like a nice unit for cost compared to trying to lay hands {and cash} on a stock unit with NAV.. I'm no audiophile and hate running wiring though {but given enough time by the Mrs. could do! -

LOOKING GOOD ! for both rides! -
For all that I've ben around, I could write a book on the "fails" I've seen over the years. BUT the best. ./worst one was the Pontiac transport/Lumina APV back around 1990. To replace SPARK PLUGS REMOVE Engine/trans/front sub frame as a UNIT. I left the profession shortly after encountering one of them when I worked for a year at a local GM dealer. Moan as much as you want working on your Journey folks, I've seen and been thru a LOT WORSE.

WELL.... It is what it is for some maint./repairs on our Journeys. You should see some of the numbskull engineering disasters for COMMON items that other makes have given their owners

help 2017 journey bogging down on hills no codes
5rebel9 replied to SaveMeLol's topic in Engine & Transmission
Since it is not your ride. Find out and post the engine size and WHAT maint. has been done in the last year or so. This will help in avoiding redundant suggestions that may not apply. Miles on the car would also be very helpful, after all it is 5 years old now and there are normal maint. items that need to be addressed first. -
2015 SE Starts When It Feels Like it
5rebel9 replied to TimInNY's topic in Electrical, Battery & Charging
How old is the battery and how long since the battery posts and cable clamps have been cleaned? This is a very common problem with older batteries and lack of preventative maint. Once cleaned use a skim coat of Di-electric grease on the posts and cable clamp.YES the battery is in a wicked hard area to get to! -
Updating and upgrading air suspension
5rebel9 replied to Locosiete's topic in Accessories, Modifications
WOW ! 3 years? Normal struts and shocks don't last much longer on any vehicles up my way. And yours is just a minor rub problem that WHO CAN KNOW from under WHAT conditions they rub. Raising/lowering and driving/cornering all come into play on when they might have been rubbing. One thing I'm finding out with all 3 of mine is that all 3 camber/toe and control arm bushings are definite wear/weak links in maintaining "tight"suspension geometry to keep all "lined up". From watching shows of doing car mods with "bagging" a suspension, it is very important for a very liberal clearance room all the way around, and usually VERY HARD to determine when inflated and weight put to the car on the ground. As I said before, you have done some pretty special upgrading to do this and 3 years use is a nice return. NOW a bit more "engineering" and make the system last longer. -
Updating and upgrading air suspension
5rebel9 replied to Locosiete's topic in Accessories, Modifications
And those rear bags have lasted how long? You have done something that FEW have done with a Journey, and I know there is not much room to visually see for clearances of the rear strut perches. You did very well on the initial air system install! Now it's time to "fine tune" fitment to take care of the slight rubbing and make your planned "upgrades" you posted of. Don't get discouraged and keep on going. Looking forward to more updates! -
With my luck the FIRST TIME I'd use the horn...... I would be caught and ticketed.

This is TOO COOL! You have done amazing things already with your ride, looking forward to how this next "upgrade" goes! Me, well I am stuck just maintaining and keeping them running correctly. -
New "Stock" system setup
5rebel9 replied to Locosiete's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
I just got to watch your video with the volume turned on. WELL, you definitely played the right song for my tastes! I've never seen roof panels vibrate so much!...you may end up relaying the sealing caulking in it if you go "whole guns" too long....LOL I take it that while driving that the volume is turned down much lower??? My wife will not let me have volume turned up higher than 10 on the stock radios in our cars. I can barely hear the songs, or is it that I'm constantly more attuned to listening for vehicle noises?? She loves her '13 RT AWD with 19" rims. They do ride and corner so much tighter than the 17's on our other 2 Journey's.....just not looking forward to new tires for it when the time comes. She also misses the sunroof that she had in her old ride....08 Pontiac G6gt. I told her that like another old rock song....YOU CAN"T ALWAYS GET WHAT YOU WANT -

Phone connect
5rebel9 replied to RF123's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
You have been a member here for about 1.5 years, I assume you got this Journey used? have you used the phone function before or are just now trying to get it to work? Kind of hard to know how to give help with no background information as to what is happening. Kind of like going to seek medical help but not say just what had been happening and symptoms that have you seeking help....that way does not lend well to good and speedy relief. -
Phone connect
5rebel9 replied to RF123's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
You really need to check out for youtube videos to help you. You may need to go thru the "more" icon and get to settings pages for functions. I did not have any problem having the controls respond to "pair" in the wife's phone and it has worked a few times. But seeing your posted video, I almost wonder if the bluetooth module is installed and functioning due to the lack of response the infotainment is doing. -
Phone connect
5rebel9 replied to RF123's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
There are a number of "how to" videos on YOU TUBE on how to pair a phone to the car for operation. Just a reminder that todays phones do not seem to connect well with the older operating system of our older Journeys. ALSO is this vehicle still have the FACTORY radio or an aftermarket unit? -
Journey 2009, 2.4 engine, code P0622
5rebel9 replied to jose laprovitera's topic in Electrical, Battery & Charging
In my understanding of the route YOU seem to want to take, that you are going off in a wrong direction. You need to test power voltages at the 2 wire connector on the alternator and trace back to the PCM {engine computer} This charging system is the same thru many years, whether they do or do not have the battery saver terminal on the battery. In rereading your posts, it seems that poor diagnosis's have been done and the old "parts cannon" ways have been used to no avail. One can not reverse the costs of past "blunders", so it is time to do things the right way. GOOD LUCK to you and keep us informed how things go. -
Journey 2009, 2.4 engine, code P0622
5rebel9 replied to jose laprovitera's topic in Electrical, Battery & Charging
Voltage regulation is done inside the PCM. NOT common for it to go bad, BUT wiring to it or plug connector can go bad and give this code. Not sure how good your English abilities are, but YOU TUBE has a number of good videos on tackling this P0622 code. -
Phone connect
5rebel9 replied to RF123's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
Did you "pair" your phone to the system through the infotainment screen first? NEWER phones have a problem being recognized by the older systems in your year and my '13 journey. SOMETIMES mine will recognize and connect, but most times it won't.
