The journey just went to the dealership for an oil change.
It has just under 20k on it and bone stock.
My wife called and said the service tech said the air filter needed replaced.
I told her to decline the 50 dollar air filter and I'd change it at home.
She then called back and put the tech sales guy on the phone and he said there was oil on the filter and they wanted to check it out since it's under warranty.
They called back and he said his lead tech checked it out and said it was nothing, probably the oil being poured in too fast.
Huh?
He explained that the oil could be poured on too fast and stayed on top and got sucked into the air filter on start up.
Makes zero sense to me, but its5been a long time since high school auto shop
My brain said pcv issue, but they said it was fine and the oil on the filter was nothing to be concerned about and that we should just avoid shady oil change shops.
This thing has only had oil chanfes at this dealership
So, any ideas? Do I need to take it to a different dealership to get it checked out? Warranty is good until 36k
