Yes, my understanding is that the 2013 RB5 has more memory. Peace. -

Hi. So I've come to understand that the 2011 RB5 doesn't have enough memory for the latest maps. I can't load the map update onto my RB5 bc there just isn't enough system memory. Peace. -

Ok. I pulled the trigger on a garmin Nuvi from eBay. I'll try to get my maps updated. @JAR414 If you know the location of a detailed and accurate procedure, I would appreciate a link to that. Not sure if the one on the charger forum is the best. Some was from the poster's memory... Peace. -

So I looked on the charger forum. It seems that you need a garmin nuvi navigation unit to use as a go-between to update the RB5 maps. I don't have that. ? I guess I'll just drive with old maps. Peace. -

Ok. My DJ is running CPT11. I suppose that means I'm stuck with my 2017 map update. I'll look on the charger forums to see if there's any other info there. If anyone here has anything, I'm interested... Peace. -

How do I figure out the firmware version? Is there somewhere in the menus that will show that? Thanks. -
Hi. I've asked this before without any luck. Just checking back. I have a 2011 DJ R/T. Chrysler and Garmin seem to have stopped providing map updates for my RB5 radio. I'm fine with my somewhat outdated RB5 functionality. I just want an updated map. Anyone know how to buy or hack a map update? Peace.

No start after a week at airport
Redtomatoman123 replied to Redtomatoman123's topic in Electrical, Battery & Charging
I thought I'd mention that the DJ is not my daily driver. It's common for it to sit a week or so between trips. This is the first no start. Never even slow started in the past. No hesitation before starting now either. Just sayin'.. Peace. -
Hi all. Left my 2011 DJ 3.6 at the airport parking lot for a week. Was fine at dropoff, no start a week later. Jumped and started immediately. No messages, dummy lifts or anything after jump. Drove fine 2 hours home. That was yesterday. No problems starting today and drives fine. I don't have an obd scanner, but as I said no messages on the evic. I am planning to change the battery as it's 5 yrs old and may be starting to decline and go bad. Just wondering if there's anything else I should check. Any comments are welcome. Peace.

I bought my 2011 R/T new, so I'm into my 11th year. 106,000ish miles. I drive it mostly on longer road trips. It's been a good vehicle. Had the left head replaced as many of the early DJs have had. Had a solenoid of some kind go out on the transmission. No other problems. Engine still purrs like the day I brought it home. Still has plenty of pentastar power. Really like this vehicle. My only beef is I can't update the nav maps and I can't replace the head unit to get android auto. Too integrated. Oh, well... Peace.

I have a 2011 R/T. It doesn't have a hatch badge. Only the yellow gas cap. Mine is ok with E85. I'd say use your vin as the reference. If the above website doesn't work, any dealer should be able to get the information with the vin. Peace.

Dodge Journey Transmission Shudder
Redtomatoman123 replied to JHJourney's topic in Engine & Transmission
Hi. I feel my 2011 do this sometimes. I've owned it since new. It definitely shudders when backing up a hill. My understanding is that behavior is common. Mine will also give a shudder at lower neighborhood speeds sometimes. I feel like that is more related to the computer trying to decide which gear to be in rather than a transmission issue. Anyway, that's my 2 cents... Not sure if any of that relates to what you're feeling. I wouldn't worry until you're certain that you have a real issue. Then do something. Peace. -
And that's all for now, Folks! (A goodbye)
Redtomatoman123 replied to NavalLacrosse's topic in Owner Impressions
Best of luck to you. Glad no injuries except the vehicle. Replace it with something that can do the occasional burn out without worry of causing damage to the tranny. Ha! Peace. -
Congratulations. Glad to see a high mileage DJ. Cool that you are able to do that kind of work. Wish I could. I just passed 101 K on my 2011 FWD R/T. So far I have no discernable ticking or engine noise except for what I believe to be momentary lifter clatter on startup after the car hasn't been run for a few days. Any suggestions to the rest of us on how to avoid ending up replacing the same parts that you did? I hope to keep my DJ running strong until at least 200 K. Thanks in advance. Peace.

mischief "Dream Cruise" in the Dodge Journey
Redtomatoman123 replied to NavalLacrosse's topic in Lounge
@NavalLacrosse You're cool. Showing the DJ off a bit... Peace. -
I think the short answer is that the maps are no longer supported. 2017 is the most updated map. I'm guessing that Dodge is no longer paying Garmin to make updated maps for the DJ format, so that's it... If anyone knows an easy way to update the maps, I'd like to have updated maps in my DJ. I have a 2011 as well. If not, I'll live with my 2017 map version. Makes me appreciate the android auto in my truck with constantly updated maps, voice controlled navigation, and integrated spotify. Still love my DJ, though. I don't mind the old technology. Peace.

Cool beans! Hope you get 10 more years... I really like my DJ. 2011 R/T about to cross the 100,000 mile mark. A few issues, but still running great. Wish I could update my maps too. I'm stuck with 2017 maps... ? Peace.

Weird sound, after cold starts, begin driving away
Redtomatoman123 replied to Ezpeezy15's topic in Exterior & Body
Ha! Interesting... I knew my sound wasn't something nefarious since mine was so predictable and had been doing it since new. Thanks for the info! Peace. -

Redtomatoman123 replied to Ezpeezy15's topic in Exterior & Body
I think I have this same sound too. '11 FWD R/T. Only after sitting in the garage. It's been making that sound ever since I can remember. (I bought the DJ new) I can only hear it if the music is low or off and it only does it once. I used to try to figure out what it was, thinking it was something going wrong. If your sound is the same, I wouldn't worry about it. Mine's been doing it consistently for so long, I'd worry if it stopped... I have no idea what it is. Peace. -
Tuning Chips and Air Intake
Redtomatoman123 replied to Maverick2757's topic in Engine & Transmission
I haven't done it. I'd love to see a report back from you regarding the upgrades and resultant performance. A dyno before and after the upgrades would be excellent to discern performance gains. Let us know how it goes... The DJ has a CAI stock, btw. Peace.
