First modification, that I did to my DJ. The air intakes funky tubes. My guess is they did something to quiet the intake noise ? I like a clean look in the engine bay. It was seriously messy cutting and grinding. I found rubber plugs on eBay, that were perfect for the job. Snorkel intake piece from air filter box to under hood. Air intake tube from engine to air filter box. Stock Dodge- Modified painted. Painted with Rust-Oleum bed liner. Light textured surface and sticks better than paint. Painted the air filter box. One reason, I chose to do this is that intact. The stock tubes had the coolest intake air temperature. With just the snorkel piece removed. The intake air temps ran around 10 to 12 degrees hotter. I had bought a " cold air intake" system. It only would have been the hottest air intake system. So no! I can actually access the transmission dipstick tube now! Dean

All 3 of those use the same ground. Passenger strut tower 2 ground studs. Top square in picture. Clean them up. You should add a extra ground cable. Exactly, how I have the picture marked in orange. Use one of the studs on the engine mount. Read this post on grounds. https://www.dodgejourneyforum.com/topic/18115-electrical-system-fyi-cables/

The Dodge troubleshooting chart, for your codes point to the alternator or it's wiring. Check this cable. The alternator battery feed connects at the starter stud. Fusible link (orange wire) to 4 gauge to alternator stud. If your wire connections to the alternator are good. It may be the alternator. Electrical troubleshooting and maintenance. Do this it will help. Read my post- https://www.dodgejourneyforum.com/topic/18210-electrical-system-fyi-battery/ Process of elimination - 1) Battery terminal connections Clean up and tighten every cable connection. Negative battery terminal battery sensor. Exam sensor. Clean every connection on it. Installing sensor, you need to get the sensor seated all the way down. Before connecting any wires. Once seated spin sensor until all wires can be connected. Test the battery we need to know if it meets specifications. Problems on the journey - Read my post- https://www.dodgejourneyforum.com/topic/18115-electrical-system-fyi-cables/ 1) battery cables are 4 gauge. Too small should have been 2 gauge. The stock positive cables do seem to work. Clean connections are critical. The ground cables seem to be the problem spot. 2) Weak and not enough engine to chassis grounds. People have problems with the battery ground stud to engine block. I recommend owners do these 2 ground upgrades. Their cheap to do and needed. I used a 2 gauge cable from the large ground stud to engine stud. On the passenger side, use 4 or 6 gauge from engine mount to strut tower grounds. Connecting the pass side grounds to the battery ground. Through the engine block. Dean

The picture of the positive battery terminal connection. That is the stock Dodge connection. 125k miles. You can see why clean connections are important. You see the rust. Covering the positive terminal is something you need to do. Go to Amazon and it's cheap. Fits perfectly. MGI SpeedWare Top Post Battery Terminal https://a.co/d/02C2W22J Same cable in picture above

1) Battery Located down below in front of the driver's side front tire. The Journey needs a strong and healthy battery. Fact. Clean and tight connections. Always get the battery load tested first. When trouble-shooting for electrical problems. It's a process of elimination that starts with the battery. No guessing. It has to be done. However, A honorable mention goes out to the forum member, who said their battery was " Decently new" . 2) To access the battery terminals for cleaning and maintenance. You do not have to remove the tire. For the negative terminal with the (IBS) battery sensor. Go through the engine bay. Remove the air intake system and engine air filter box. Easy access now- For the battery positive terminal connection. Go through the wheel well. Turn the tire to the full right. There is a removable plastic panel. To access the battery. It's a tight fit, but can be done. Tip- cover the tire with a sheet. The positive terminal is right there. Before working on any positive battery connections. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable connection. In the engine bay. 3) Negative terminal with Battery sensor. Be careful handling the sensor's wire harness. There is a locking clip, that needs to be released. Before you can unplug it. Check that the battery sensor is fully seated on the battery terminal. In the picture, my sensor is only half way down on the battery terminal. 4) Check that the battery hold down nut is tight. Stock battery specs- CCA - cold cranking amps Size 86 525 CCA Upgraded battery specs Size 86 650 CCA One last thing- DO NOT EVER JUMP START ANYBODY WITH YOUR JOURNEY. JUST DON'T DO IT. Dean

How to check the transmission fluid. 1) You need to buy this Dorman dipstick. https://a.co/d/iqlpIzm 2) Bring the transmission temperature gauge, up on the in dash display screen. 3) The dipstick tube is located to the front left of the air filter box. Has a small cap that reads " Dealer use only" 4) The Dorman dipstick includes directions and the chart needed. Dipstick is used for fluid checking only. It can't be left in the transmission 5) With the engine running and up to operating temperature. Move the trans through each gear. Return to park. Note the transmission temperature. Inserting the dipstick into the transmission. It only goes about half way in. Get the measurement from where the fluid level is on the dipstick. Check it on the chart. Done. If you like the device in the dash picture. Scangauge II it's plug and play. Displays some engine sensors and gauges. Basic code reader and a gas mileage function. Check it out. Amazon has it. The Automatic transmission is the 62te. 6 speed automatic . Read this and save your transmission and a whole lot of money. Correct transmission fluid and filter service. A) You change the fluid. By draining and dropping the lower trans pan. B) There is a FILTER that has to be replaced. C) There is a MAGNET located in the transmission pan. This magnet is our best friend. It catches metal pieces that are in the transmission fluid. Preventing catastrophic damage. You check it for metal shavings. Then clean the magnet and the pan completely. D) Use the correct fluid. Mopar +4 atf. TRANSMISSION FLUID FLUSH DON'T DO IT. DON'T DO IT. Here's why: 1) The filter needs to be replaced . 2) Metal shavings will be pushed through the trans-mission. If it has not been flushed before, you could dislodge debris. Plugging one of many small fluid passages. There are many. Resulting in mechanical failure. My vehicle - I am a 2nd owner 2016 DJ. 3.6 L, 62te. I got it at 125k miles. Trans fluid had never been changed. The fluid was very dark and the magnet had a lot of metal shavings. After the transmission fluid and filter service. There was no more shudder in 3rd to 4th gear. Noticeable engine braking in lower gears. Barely any before. I chose to add Lucas oil transmission Fix. Something to help make it last as long as possible. The YouTube channel, Project Farm. Tested it with a positive result. Transmission is still shifting great. Dean

I'm going to show you where, the engine block ground stud is located. 3.6 L engine. The ground from the battery stud goes here. This is the ground that the starter needs. The one you should add a 2 gauge wire to. Stand at the driver's fender looking into the engine bay. The top of the picture is the air intake hose. Find the large wire harness loom that runs from the TIPM. The stud is hidden between the large wire loom and the engine vacuum pump. -Orange arrow- A close up shot with the air filter box and intake hose removed.

2016 DJ 130k Use the Max AC button on the climate touch screen. This button is only on the touch screen. This sets the temp to full cold, air inside recirculation and fan on high. It holds these settings. When the vehicle is off, then turned on again. I did it today. Dean
