  1. It is definitely the flex plate I got the car up on ramps and the noise is loudest underneath and between engine and transmission. Didn’t look at it but it must not be cracked much as you only hear it at low rpm, the edges catch each other at higher speeds but low rpm they can rattle loose is my best guess. And to my understanding flex plates don’t wear so there was a reason why it broke, could worn engine mounts be the cause, or over hauling? We went camping multiple times last summer and we were pretty heavy
  2. I believe the original problem was the tensioner not allowing the alternator to charge, because we went through 2 alternators and was still dying and hasn’t died since tensioner replaced. With belt off the noise is only as the starter is engaging noise stops once running and with the belt on noise is worse but kinda comes and goes
  3. My mom’s v6 journey sxt has been making a grinding/rattling noise only below 1k rpm we have already replaced the idler pulley, tensioner, compressor, and alternator. I took the belt off the crank pulley and started the engine and noticed the noise only happened slightly on start up
  4. So after more investigation the car is still running but noise persists and voltage still dropping. Uncle came over and replaced the idler pulley and got another alternator for free. I believe the noise is coming from the compressor but still not sure the noise happens whether ac or heat is on or off but gets slightly worse with either on (still the noise is only really noticeable at idle). I hooked up a multimeter and noticed that running it stays around 14 volts but when the noise happens the voltage drops to 10 even lower. I’ve looked at the belt while running and it doesn’t look like its getting seized but idk
  5. Sorry first time posting will report back tomorrow investigating the noise, also could i test the alternator at home I have a cheap multimeter and thanks for the help
  6. I believe it might be the Ibs sensor, all the electronics are freaking out when battery gets low. Also the grinding noise happens intermittently
  7. My mom’s 2017 SXT V6 has had its battery and alternator replaced, we replaced them because of a loud grinding noise and the car was dying. Now the car doesn’t die but the grinding noise is still there and when a load is applied the voltage drops a significant amount when I was doing the test the car got put in battery saving mode.
