Hi. I'm looking at a 2010 Dodge Journey 2.0 CRD. I wanted to schedule an inspection with my mechanic, but he scared me before even taking a look under the hood.
He suggested that this engine might not be the best idea, claiming it has a tendency to seize up for no apparent reason. Apparently, the first Journeys had a subpar 2.0 CRD engine prone to this issue. The mechanic also claims that in later versions of the vehicle, an improved engine was used.
What's the real story? Were there actually two versions of this engine? And if so, how can I check which one is in this particular car?
