  1. I installed the radio myself. Only takes about 15 min to switch everything over aside from the air vent swap, which only takes another 10 min or so. Would the original screen failing also cause the climate control unit to fail/ not have power? With the aftermarket radio, the volume, power and tune knob all work, as well as the hazard light button. Everything else doesn’t work, including the trac control button. I even pulled the climate control panel apart and inspected the circuit boards for damage/ burns but the boards looked fine. Waiting for my friend to get here with the scanner and will go from there. Thanks again!
  2. Ok. I’ll start with the panel first. It does have the auto feature. As far as checking the codes, the mechanic at my fabrication yard has been out all week and has the scanner locked up with all the other tools. I have a buddy with a really high end snap on scanner that said he could bring it over today. Even with the aftermarket radio installed, the scanner should still be able to see what’s communicating and not communicating correct? I didn’t want the new radio to throw off what the scanner should be seeing and look at it as another potential problem. Thanks for all the responses, they’re a big help!
  3. The original 8.4 was factory. I was wondering if the panel and or climate control module is bad and that’s possibly what kept the screen from coming on in the first place? When the original 8.4 was still installed, in acc mode, I tried the control screen timeout to no avail. Now the 9” android comes on with no issue, wether in run or acc mode. I’m just still having the problem of what seems like no power or partial failure to the climate control seeings how it doesn’t even light up anymore. I’m gonna order a climate control module and see if that does the trick, if not then I will replace the control unit itself… grease up the parts cannon lol
  4. Welp, kinda took a bypass route. Bought on of the 8 core 9” android radio upgrades and installed it. It turns on wether in acc or run or with engine running. So it obviously wasn’t a power issue I was dealing with. Steering wheel controls work but the hvac control panel is black and doesn’t change hvac functions. I’m also unable to change hvac functions from the screen, due to hvac panel being off I’m sure. Is it common for those panels to go out? Weird thing is hazards, volume knob, radio power button and tune knob work. But none of the hvac controls, and the panel isn’t lighting up.
  5. 8.4” screen, everything works in acc mode. I don’t have controls of hvac when in acc, which is normal operation. As soon as I switch to run or even start the engine the screen goes and stays black, none of the hvac controls work when in run or with engine running. Every once in a while on start up the screen will quickly flash like it’s coming on but goes off right away. All fuses have been checked and replaced. I don’t think the screen is actually bad because it works just fine in acc mode. There’s something changing in the radio or screen or something when switching to run or starting the car. That’s why my next idea was to monitor power voltage going into the radio when going from acc to run, to see what happens, wether voltage drops off completely, lowers too much to power radio, or whatever it is that’s going on
  6. Btw. The replacement radio also does the same thing. It turns on right away when in ACC, everytime. As soon as you switch to RUN or start the car, screen goes black and all controls are dead. I assumed it may have been a module in the radio but having the same exact problem with a separate “tested” radio is telling me different.
  7. Are you thinking it may be the screen? It comes on in acc right away, everytime, with no issue. Would the TGW have any variation from ACC to RUN? I have a high end scanner at work that I will hook up to the vehicle and check modules. I will post any codes I see, thanks!
  8. Hi everyone, first post here and I’d like to start by saying all the information covered on this forum by everyone is awesome! I’m a member of other forums for other vehicles and this forum is definitely in the top few! Now, onto the issue. My wife’s 2014 journey sxt 2.4L is having some issues. On our last trip to CO, during 10 degree weather, the radio didn’t come on during a start up. After looking at all the tips and tricks I pulled the fuse to no avail, disconnected battery over night with no luck and have tried holding the volume and tune, pushing the eject button, putting radio into dealer mode etc.. nothings worked. Fuses are all good, I even went to the extent of removing the radio and opening it to inspect the board, which looks fine. I also went to the extent of ordering another factory radio, matching the same exact model numbers etc, and it does the same exact thing. Anyone have any ideas as to what might be causing this? It’s obviously not a power to radio/ screen problem because it comes on in acc. I doubt dodge would run to separate power wires for acc and run modes. Only thing I can think of to do next is check incoming radio power voltage while switching from acc to run and see what happens. If anyone has any insight or suggestions I’d appreciate it! Thanks all!
