  1. I have maintained that for several years. IMO the unit we have in our vehicles seems to be a cash grab for Navteq or Garmin. I have a 2010 Journey which uses a Navteq system which I believe is the parent company of Garmin (somebody corrected me on this before) I also have a lifetime warranty on my portable Garmin Nuvi and IMO it is just as good or better than what I have in my car. It offers probably what amounts to 4 upgrades per year although they are very time consuming to download (I do it at night) they are much newer than what I have in my car.At the moment I feel I can trust my portable Nuvi more than I can the expensive GPS unit in my vehicle. Last week I upgraded my system by visiting the website Dodgecacares mentioned for $149 for a one time upgrade. When I upgraded in May 2011 the Navteq rep confided in me that really all that was needed is to upgrade every 2nd one and they were sure it would be fine. Another thing it said on my invoice 2011 Maps, today is December 12th 2012 soon to be 2013. Is this the newest map they have? I have an email into them but as of yet have not received a reply, I am interested to hear their response. Terry
  2. The same goes for me, I have a fully loaded 2010 AWD, and I am very happy with it. Terry
  3. I've said this before, must be my age showing, but I personally like chrome but to the OP very nice job. Terry
  4. IMO I think this would be a very good idea, when I belonged to several PT Cruiser forums they had a "How To" section and it was always very well used. Terry
  5. Ditto here also, I used to carry both my 17' Touring Kayaks on my roof racks, I have since got a trailer which has made my Journey much quieter an has improved my gas mileage. Also when I had my Caravan i carried all my windsurfing gear inside, my gas mileage suffered when I put my 4 surfboards on top. I have since put a bike carrier on my trailer, I must admit it takes a little getting used to a trailer but the car works so much better Terry
  6. Chris were you ever able to get all the parts you wanted from your dealer? Terry
  7. Are you sure of this? I am definately not saying this is wrong but the reason I ask is, I had to purchase a lifetime upgrade for my Garmin Nuvi back in 2008. The Garmin lifetime update was way cheaper than the Navteq single upgrade. Just to let everyone know the map in my portable GPS seems to be better than the Navteq one in my vehicle and much easier to upgrade. I talked to a Navteq employee and he told me you really only need to upgrade every other upgrade. Terry
  8. I recently got the same mileage on a 320 mile round trip to Saskatoon using a higher octane gas. See my fuelly logo below. Terry
  9. Thanks Rolly I like it so far. There's more that I would like to do, just don't seem to have the time or even the money to do anything else. To answer your question, they are all OEM Mopar parts with the exception of the "Buick Portholes" and the "chrome" edging. I had my dealer install the step bars, mirror caps, door sills, R/T emblems on the fenders and air deflectors. They are all OEM parts, if any body wants I could probably give them the part numbers. I installed the chrome gas cap, the "Buick Portholes" and the "chrome" edging myself. The portholes were something, while not everybody's taste, but were never installed on my Convertible PT, so I decided to use them. The "chrome" edging that I put on my hood air deflector, sunroof air deflector and front valance is just something I had left over from my Convertible PT and is available at Canadian Tire. It's basically just door edging. In my opinion it seems to add a "finishing" touch. Terry
  10. Welcome Jeff, as Rolly pointed out to you there is some Chrysler reps here that will help when ever they can and as Rubberdude mentioned there are many mods you can do to your Dodge Journey. My vehicle is a 2010 and here is what I have done to it so far. Mopar Chrome Gas Cap, Chrome Mirror Caps, Chrome R/T emblems on each fender, Chrome Door Sill Plates,OEM Chrome Step Rails, Mopar Bug deflector & Mopar Sunroof Wind Deflector c/w "chrome edging", Weather Tech Floor Mats and Cargo Mat. Terry
  11. Was just up there, I have been there 3 or 4 times in the last month or two. In fact the photo above was taken on my last trip up there. As I posted elsewhere in this forum, I drove up there and back using Shell's mid grade gas in the vehicle and I got 9.3l/100 kms. which really surprised me. Trying to decide if the extra cost in gas and increase in mileage would be worth it over the long haul. Looking forward to seeing photos of your backed out grille. Terry
  12. Thanks, must be the fact the gas has no ethanol because my driving habits (not the greatest) didn't change overnight.....LOL. Terry
  13. Do you have any photos of this? Just curious........ Silent Dan your grille looks great! Terry
  14. Probably showing my age here......LOL, I like chrome more than Black, although a blacked out grille would be nice. If you don't mind me asking, where abouts are you Mark? Terry
  15. I just did a 500 km (300 mile) road trip in which I filled up with Premium gas before I left when I filled up when I got back My Fuelly said I got 9.3 L/100 KMS which ties my best ever recorded. I am at a loss to explain this because I have always used regular gas. Is it just a coincidence or a fact? I have to do some more investigating! Terry
  16. My dealer has always been great, he is a small dealership about 70 kms.east of "the big city". The two Regina dealerships are fine, but just don't have the small town atmoshere that my dealer has. When I walk in everybody knows who I am, what I drive etc.not too mention their labour rates are much cheaper. Terry
  17. I also have a white Dodge Journey. Terry
  18. I get an alert in my car about every 5000 kms. and I just let my dealer know. As part of the deal for buying a car from him, he offers lifetime oil changes at every 3 months or 5000 kms. I haven't paid for an oil change since 1991 when I bought my first Caravan from him. Terry
  19. Obviously this is only one person's opinion, I have had no problems to speak of with the Kumho tires. When it comes time to change them out I will get something else, by that time there will/should be a larger selection available in the oddball size that is on my Journey. I agree with you tire pressure checks and rotations will be important. I just had my tires rotated for the second time an my vehicle has 28,000 kms, on it. Terry
  20. Ditto here too although I got my first car in 1976.......LOL. Terry
  21. Sorry to get your hopes up, it was just someone local (Saskatoon) who did some work for my dealership. Terry
  22. Hi Shaun Welcome to the fold, there is a lot of great info here, in fact several Dodge reps will frequent the forum an give their insight. I too have a 2010 DJ although mine is an AWD R/T but I have made several cosmetic changes to it to personalize it somewhat. As you can see in the photo, I have added Mopar Chrome Gas Cap, Chrome Mirror Caps, Chrome R/T emblems on each fender, Chrome Door Sill Plates, OEM Chrome Step Rails, Mopar Bug deflector & Mopar Sunroof Wind Deflector c/w "chrome edging", "Chrome" Buick 3 hole Portholes, OEM Factory Roof Rack Chrome Rails c/w 2 Malone Kayak Carriers which have now been removed as I trailer my kayaks around. Terry
