Wes To quote an old Jack Benny saying "you're only as old as you feel, right now I feel like a 30 year old, trouble is there is never a cute one around when you want one" Terry

Welcome to the forums CJ, there is a wealth of info here that may take you a long time to digest, but very interesting reading nonetheless. While I personally haven't had all of them, the major issues here have been the odd tire size (225/55/19) and replacements, brake problems and size of brakes, poor gas mileage although you have a diesel and can ignore this. I do......I let My Fuelly figure out the overall mileage. I am going to repeat myself from an earlier post so I apologize in advance. I have got a best of 9.3 L/100 kms., but I usually average middle 10's to low 11's on the highway and middle 15's around town but in the winter it has gone as high as 21. Once again you can look at the past 3 years of driving at: http://www.fuelly.co...ndancer/journey This to me is real world stuff because it includes warm up's in winter on our very cold days. Terry

I will look and see if I still have the bill, it was 3 years ago....... Terry

Sorry for repeating myself but I am placing the same post her as I did in another thread. I am one of those people that did replace the OEM Kumho tires with the slightly larger Michelin tires. This is my reasoning: I got 40,000 kms. (24,000 miles) out of my original Kumhos, slightly disappointing but typical of OEM tires. Personally I would have liked to get more. Although they have been through 3 winters here and I never really had any complaints. Around here there was a much larger choice of tires in the 235/55/19 size as opposed to the 225/55/19 size. About a month and 1/2 ago I went to my local Costco and had them order 4 235/55/19 Michelin Latitide HP tires for my car. Now as you probably know Costco only replaces tires in the same size as what is listed on the door so I printed off the TSB that DodgeCaCares provided here. They had no problem ordering the tires and putting them on the car. So far I have had no problems, rides very nice, lots of traction etc, although several forum members have had some problems with Costco tires, so I really don't want to diminish that fact and the trouble they encountered. As I mentioned so far I have had no problems and over the weekend we have had several inches of snow, the Michelins seem to have much more traction and while a more narrower tire would probably be better in the snow, and snow tires would be better but a huge extra expense and considering I have 2 cars not a whole lot of extra room in my garage I have no complaints so far, they seem to be better than my Kumho's but my Kumho's were nearing the end of their life. They advised me that the Kumho's would probably last me next summer, but they would be lacking over winter. I have been out on gravel roads and and on unmantained roads walking my dog and had no problems so far. I will definately post if there is a problem. Terry

I have had both an they both seem to have their strong points. I am a very avid outdoors person so that aspect is very important to me. I windsurf and kayak a lot, so my Caravan seemed to have more room in it for all my windsurfing gear. I had removed all the seats and put 3 2 pc. masts, 4 boards and 7 or 8 sails + gear inside and had room to change inside if some of the gear was removed. So everything was inside and protected. Being a little taller it was harder to lift my kayaks up on to the roof of the van than the DJ but now I have a trailer to haul both of them around so that point is moot. Personally I like the DJ more because it seems to have more power, has AWD and a weeeee bit more clearance with the 19" wheels, but my boards now go on the roof so they aren't protected as much. As far as the vehicles themselves are concerned, I personally like the DJ a little more. The DJ is/was much newer so several of my points could be attributed to the age of the vehicle. Terry

Switching to 235-60-17s from 225-65-17s
Windancer replied to Jay Sixspeedrt's topic in Wheels & Tires
I replaced my Kumho 225/55/19 tires with Michelin HP Latitudes 235/55/19 and had no problems and they look and ride nicer than my OEM tires. Just my own opinion though. Terry -

Nice to hear, I only have 40,000 kms. on my 2010 as I don't put too many miles on my vehicle, even less now that I have a 2 seat convertible roadster for the summer months. Terry

Congrats looks very nice, unfortunately and I use the term loosely those "rubber band tires" wouldn't work well around here. terry

Rolly Thanks for the story, it is so nice to hear of a positive story about a dealer instead of a poor one. I, myself have a great dealer (small town just 45 miles east of here) that I have dealt with for over 20 years now. They have always given me such great service that I haven't even bothered with my two local dealers. Terry

What Did You do to your Journey Today
Windancer replied to guls's topic in Accessories, Modifications
Didn't do any thing to it today but so far have put on chrome mirror caps, chrome door sills, chrome gas cap, chrome step bars, 235/55/19 Michelin Latitude HP tires, hood bug deflector, sunroof air deflector, chrome R/T emblems on each fender, "chrome" edging on the 2 air deflectors and the front valance, "chrome" Buick portholes on each fender, molded front floor mats as well as the rear mat and several other small additions to the car. I have one that was installed by my dealer. Terry

I think the concensus here is that winter tires do help more when stopping on ice and I certainly agree with that. One thing about living here "it's a dry cold" Terry
