  2. you son of a ***** you got yours first, well the call anyways . Hope you sleep good tonight, I know I wouldn't be able to. Too bad about the window Hey was it in back of the dealership, or out front as if it just got unloaded parked with others unoaded? Hope you got a picture of it. I carry my camera everyday now just waiting for ours. Like I mentioned before, I drive past the dealership to and from work everyday. Keep us up to date Keith, congratualtions buddy!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rob
  3. you know Seth, sorry to be harsh but the Journey can sit in a "waiting to be built" stage for weeks I've heard of guys waiting up to 6 weeks. Now I do not think this is going to happen to yours. I have read somewhere, might even be here, that the Customer orderes get bumped ahead of the stock orders I know how you feel about waiting. There is nothing, from what I understand, that you can do. When I got my VIN, it was I think 3 weeks before I got an estimated shipping date. From there it was about 4 days and I had a Firm or Fixed (can't remember) shipping date which was April 23rd. From there it is just wait. The Salesmanager said it can take up to 3 weeks to get the car from Mexico to the nearest yard. Now from the nearest yard to get it trucked over then PDI'd then for you to inspect it and sign papers. Hang in there, I know it is frustrating Rob
  4. I know in the manual, if you have selected a lower gear and the engines revs too much, it will go into the next gear automatically but still be in the autostick mode. Yes the auto stick will be great for towing as well but I wouldn't be towing too much with it. If you are towing, buy a tow vehicle rather than prematre wear on the tranny. Also slowing down with a trailer, the auto stick can save the brakes on the Journey, less heat warped rotors etc. Even desending down a long hill, rather than keeping your foot on the brake to keep the car at a slower speed (which shouldn't be done anyhow but it does) chose a lower gear and let the engine brake work keeping the car at a safer speed and keeping your brakes from heat and warped rotors Well my take on it anyhoo!!! Rob
  5. I wonder if this was on a couple proto types and then got shelved  Too bad as I did want them. I just ahte when you have stuff in the bags and it rolls all over the place cause of a corner how bout this,.... Anybody have them if so what model do you have SE, SXT, R/T, FWD of AWD Rob
  6. well at first the nav was hold up as the supplier wasn't able to meet the time frame alotted. Everything is a go now from what I understand. If you live in the States, you can track your Journey through a 1-800 number from the Dodge.com site. In Canada, you are at the mercy of the dealership. I ordered ours March 13th and we are still waiting. See my thread all about it " I GOT MY VIN". Best bet is, go to the dealer and ask for them to check on the staus. Don't wait for the dealer to call you. It may sound cold, but they don't have the time to check all the time. If you are there, they will check for you. Ask them to print out the status so far. If you are from out of town (a distance from the dealer, stop by every Saturday and wait til you get the staus. I have waited up to an hour for them to find time. Stay on top of your order as this shows them you are engrossed in the sale/transaction and they will know you are picky. Your PDI work order will no doubt be sent with a message "customer is picky" or something like that and the person doing the PDI will be sure to take extra care. I am not saying that most PDI's are just done and out the door it goes. This is just an extra step to be sure the PDI goes well. just some ides for you Rob
  7. Other Tire Manufactures will be building the size, it's just a matter of time. I remember the 16's when they came on the cars for the first time and it was the samething. You could also substitute for other sizes of 19"s as long as the over all diameter, (OD) stays the same. If you have an AWD model be sure to replace all 4 tires at the same time, this is why rotating is crucial for these set ups. Up and I wanted them too Rob
  8. I don't think the teathers are in the 3rd row. But nothing a little mod would fix. It would still be hard to get a kid in a carseat back there but It would be do-able. We also have the booster seats as well. My daughter is 8 and I got her to sit in a Journey and she could barely see over the window. She is tiny for her age so she thinks it's cool to have an option just for her to use. My 12 yr old son on the other hand is like a brick $*it house, what a bruiser. he is way too big for those booster seats We plan on keeping this car forever so we got everything we could but the smoker's group. I can see if you plan on flipping the car in a few years, why bother with some of the options because they (the manufacturers) are always upping the stakes and coming up with "new, better & improved items". Rob
  9. You are welcome Jay, I did not want to sway your decision, just wanted to help you make a more informed one. Your dealer is correct in saying the 19"s are more money when they need replacing. Unless you were to buy a lesser expensive tire. Lets say a 19" Michelin is $150/ tire and the Kumhos are 125/tire but the Michelin's in a 17" may run you the $135/tire and the Kumhos are 115/tire basically a 19" Kumho is 125 and the 17" Michelin is 135/tire **** these are just ficticious numbers and used for examples only***** Rob
  10. well another update, stopped by the dealer to ask why I have a new shipping date from April 23rd to may 16th? the salesman said he would check withe the sales manager. Well he comes back and gives me this info "its rolling" I ask him does that mean it's in transit? his reply was I think so. I mention to him that I will be away on a jobsite next week for 4 days (Tuesday-Friday) as Monday in a longweekend for us in Canada. Said to him that I will be picking it up on a Saturday as I want to spend 3-4 hours making sure everything works before I sign anything. My salesman said that if I am away he will call the wife to let her know if it is in and also he will try and keep the miles down on it I said to him that I check the yard every morning on my way to work to see if it is in and he said that they keep special order vehicles in the back to help keep them from being damaged. My gut feeling is that it will be here Friday (3 sleeps) as he mentioned to check with him Friday after I get off from work (he had a grin on hios face) Rob
  11. We ordered the 7 seater just incase our 2 kids want to bring some friends along. Our kids, ages 12 and 8 love the idea of the new Journey (when it gets here). You do sacrific a little storage area if you choose the 5+2 seating but at least this way we will never say "should have gotten the 5+2). The seats will be folded down mostly. and we will still have room for all we need. Rob
  12. most sport suspenions will have stiffer shocks & spring rate and I think a rear sway bar is included to help with body sway. The tires will have less sidewall height. That relates to less tire rolling under itself as compared to the 17". The sacrific is that with less sidewall, you feel more of the road as it is tranferred easier through the suspension. The 17's will help absorb some of the road bumps. my 2 cents is, we ordered the 19's as the sport suspension, to me, is safer in emergency manovers. I remember with the Liberty when it first came out with all the body roll and soft tires the Liberty was more prone to flip over. Plus I like the feeling of cornering, carry more speed through a corner when merging out onto the highway. Rather than kick it down and rev up the engine to get up to speedwith everyone Rob
  13. ya I hear ya on that!!!!!!!!!!! Hey the car looks great, what a shine. Congrates on the new car Rob
  14. Another happy Journey owner, good for you. I am so glad you are enjoying the Journey. After taking it on a long trip, be sure to report how it does in that department. Great review/summary you did Rob
  15. I was kinda leaning toward the Norton thing too. This is a new computer with all the bells and whistles. It is an AMD Athalon 64X2 Dual core processor 6000+ 3GHz with a 22inch LCD screen it was AMD'd Multi media system other sites, it is lightning fast but this one, for some reason every now and then, out to lala land Rob
  16. Ya larryl, I will post once I have the proper Figures to see how close they are. I don't ever go by the door placard for Inflation. I stripped F150 and optioned out F150 with the exact same tire size and Load range will have the exact same Pressure even though the weighs are way different. Rob as a great exampl (this just came to me) My 2000 F350 Diesel dually 4X4 the tires load range E (Like a 10 ply in old school) were max pressure 80 PSI I was running 53PSI in the fronts and 30 PSI in the rears The tire shop I worked for was like "I you sure about those pressures, after all it is a diesel" I weighed it, got my figures and with NO rotations (cause it had polished dually wheels) the tires were wearing perfect. After 35,000KM's they looked new still, this is on a 4X4 dually. There is a few pictures on webshots, I will see if I can load them here................. http://rides.webshots.com/photo/1102379934051343266thHars you can actually see my other albums too, My twin Caravans too............2178 Rob
  17. I have done that too Jay, but no change, my last post was even doubled up, sorta in the "Any Problems thread" weird. I've deleted temporary internet files even defraged but no change, Norton doesn't show anything and neither does adaware?????????? Maybe it's the darn Vista on this new Computer Rob
  18. yes they are a 5 seater, I remember him stating he wanted the 5 seater as he needs the room for the dog crates Rob
  19. just a PITA sometimes cause when I go to post, I sit and wait, and wait then I get a time out message. Sometimes I don't even post at all cause of the headaches. I have to do a copy and paste now just to be sure. If my first post doesn't go through, just go back re- reply and paste my message. works fast most of the time but every now and then it goes out to lala land. Rob see if this one works............
  20. Just food for thought but did any of the problems show up when you drove the car for the first time? I am not flaming here but shouldn't you test things first before you take possession? Sure as hell when I get ours, before I even sign anything, I will be going over the car for about 4 hours testing everything and then a long test drive to see if there is any issues. I plan on testing everything before I sign anywhere. I have a "kit" I am taking to the dealer to test stuff. They havn't seen and anal customer til they see me. It's been too long on order and do not want to go through this ever again. I plan on picking the car up on a Saturday morning, even if it comes in on a Monday. How's the saying go, "an ounce of cure is worth a pound of prevention" Sorry to hear of some of the problems some of you are having and hopefully it all gets worked out without too much hassle. Rob
  21. ah man, you caved in I think you did well holding out WTG. What a great Mother's Day/Anniversary present. PS, please remember, the brownie points you just gained are huge but it doesn't matter how many you have, one little oops and they are ALL gone all at once. No left overs or carry overs I am glad you guys are loving the Journey Rob
  22. Hey Keith, thanks for swelling my head I have not done air pressures yet as I want to get the car axles weighed and go from there. Nitrogen is the way to go. For those who don't the Nitrogen air filled tires are less prone to small leaks/seapage. Also they run cooler at highway speeds, so air pressure fluctuation is minimal. The worst thing to do is over inflate the tires as this sets premature wear on a tire very early and when it shows up, then you readjust the air to proper specs but the tire is already worn into an overinflation situation. Now that the tire is set at proper pressure it weras evanly (just as much wearing on the center rib as the shoulders the tire wears VERY quickly and before you know it, you are replacing tires sooner rather than later. I can only imagine how much the tites are for the Journey in a 19". regular rotations (every 10,000km's) and keep a close eye on pressures = Long tire life Rob
  23. I have been watching the member #'s lately and the numbers are climbing faster now than before. I think as the Journey becomes more and more popular, this forum will be growing in leaps and bounds. I hope the website will be able to keep up with the demand/strain. Seems like more people are getting envolved, wanting info, or just chatting away. Turning into a great forum with friendly people. I have made a few good friends on here already, and one I have been in contact with on a regular basis. Rob
  24. Did you hit someone? or did you mean to say you almost hit someone. I read that and thought OMG!!!!!!! Also check with your salesman and see if you can see the work order on your car to be sure it was PDI'd. If they don't help, ask to see the salesmanager, and if that doesn't work ask to see the store manager. I'll bet your car wasn't PDI'd like you said too many issues and it was very dirty. Remind them that you are part of an internet forum. and naming a business that won't help you will catch them eventually. Keep going to the top all the way to Chrysler LLC. Once you have done these things though it will leave a "sour taste in their mouth" so to speak and the dealership may not want to help you in the future,..... but are they helping you now anyways???????? Raise some cane, give 'em hell. it's your money that you used to buy the Journey. just my 2 cents worth anyhow Welcome to the forum, great place here Rob
