Jeez dude, you really should change the thumbnail picture in your video! No way in hell would I have a totally naked picture of my daughter like that on any forum!!!

You must drive fairly slow and steady. I got 7.8 on 1 tank that was all highway. I had the cruise set at 110 and my speed never changed for that whole tank. Around town, which is most of my driving, I usually get around 12 - 12.5

Have you confirmed with Chrysler that there is an actual 1 Gig limit? How did you come to that conclusion? I am currently using a 16 Gig SD Card in my Journey and it has way more than 1 Gig of music on it. I have also used a USB memory stick that had more than 1 Gig of music on it without issue. Granted, I have the 8.4N system but there would be no logical reason for Chrysler to impose a 1 Gig limit and not document it. Have you shown this to the dealer and asked them to fix it? Have you tried multiple different USB sticks to see if you have the same issue with all of them? As for the horn - I can't imagine there is any software interface between the steering wheel button and the actual horn. You really need to show all these issues to a dealer to get them fixed. If one dealer isn't helpful, go to another.

ECO message
drb227 replied to deltaJ's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
Pretty sure this does not exist for the 2011's. However, on one of the DJ commercials in Canada, they show the word ECO on the EVIC screen while it is being driven. I guess that feature never made it to production? -
Who here had a dead battery on a new '11?
drb227 replied to Geer's topic in Electrical, Battery & Charging
No need to post the exact same message in 2 different threads. Chrysler appears to have fixed the dead battery issue for the 2011. Be sure you get the TSB applied, as per this thread. Yeah, it is inconvenient when it happens but a simple software upgrade fixes the problem. -
It's really crappy when a dealership ruins the purchase experience of what is a great vehicle! My advice - find another dealer for your service from now on. Southbank sounds completely incompetent. I am fortunate to have a very competent dealership for my service in Toronto. I use Downsview Chrysler. I've used them for my Cirrus and Caliber and now for my Journey, even though I only bought the Cirrus from them.

Take a look at this picture of my driver's door. Click on it to see the larger version: If you look straight above the bottle holder slot, you will see a what looks like a small cutout. The light is in there. It is really only visible when it is dark out and even then, it is barely visible. The second dimmer control ONLY controls these lights on my Journey. I don't know why Chrysler even bothered to put these lights on a dimmer. At their brightest they are barely visible. The other dimmer control on the left controls all the other lights (IP, storage cubby and cup holder ring lights).
-
Even at the brightest setting, those little blue lights are not very bright. They are mounted above the bottle holder slots in the front doors. You rotate the control all the way up for maximum brightness but, as I said, the lights in the front doors only illuminate the bottle holder slots and they barely do anything.

2012 Journey
drb227 replied to redtomatoman's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
So glad I have the 8.4" screen! Honestly, I would probably not buy a Journey right now if I couldn't get it with the 8.4" screen. -
No way was I going to have the additional expense of installing the TPMS sensors for my winter wheels. The warning ding upon starting and the light being on are very easy to ignore! Did the same thing on my 2007 Caliber for 4 years. Never had a problem with the system when I put the summer tires back on.
-
I bought the Nordfrost 5 package. Amazing winter tires! They had to smooth the outside of the front calipers(basically remove the bumps) for the rims to fit without touching but they do this on many vehicles. My 16" rims were from the Caravan and they sometimes have to do this for those rims. They can also get the actual 16" steel rims for the 2011 Journey but they cost more. You can call them and tell them you have a 2011 Journey and ask about the price difference between the 16" Caravan steelies and the 16" Journey steelies. Both fit but the Caravan steelies are a tighter fit that sometimes requires them having to smooth out the outside of the front calipers.

If you read other threads on here, you will see that Chrysler has released 2 TSBs that are supposed to fix the battery draining issue. Some of us have had one or both TSBs applied. Only time will tell if this is a permanent fix but I believe one owner here has had the fix for six or seven weeks now and has not had the problem again. ALL vehicles have issues of some sort. I'm sure Chevys' have problems of their own. We are fortunate enough to have an actual Chrysler employee (DodgeCares) on this board. He has been extremely helpful!
-
drozz - By the time you factor in shipping and duty costs, you won't save any money over buying the rims locally. I used Simply Tire for winter tires for both my cars and they were great. www.simplytire.com

I'm pretty sure the Uconnect Voice Command with Bluetooth option was $300 on the 2011's. The Flexible seating group used to be $1375 and the chrome rims were $500, so both items have gone up by $100. The mark-ups on that vehicle are crazy! Dealer admin - $589, Northern Package - $3462?!? Yikes! I have my window sticker and the Flexible Seating Group doesn't list Incandescent Stop/Tail Lamp but it does say Easy Entry System Seat. Interesting to note the differences!

Who here had a dead battery on a new '11?
drb227 replied to Geer's topic in Electrical, Battery & Charging
Got my Journey back from service today. Had both TSBs applied. Will have to wait and see if the battery dies again. The 08-023-11 TSB did bring my bluetooth back to life. The display no longer automatically switches to the phone menu whenever a bluetooth connection is made, YAY! I had a whole bunch of work done at this service. I'm going to start a new thread about it so that others will know what I had done. Hopefully it will help others who may have some of the same issues I had. My dealer knew nothing about these TSBs. The service rep actually thanked me for bringing them to his attention as he has already used them on a few other vehicles. No idea why they couldn't find them themselves but THANKS DodgeCares! Without your help, I'm not sure what would have been accomplished at the service. -
Welcome! It would have been better if you had started your own thread. I too traded an 07 Caliber SXT for my 11 Crew. Love it! You will find much useful information and friendly people here!

Dre, This info from DodgeCares may fix your issue. One of the fixes is apparently related to Siruis channel updates and not always going to the right channel. My Crew is in for service today and this is one of the updates that are being installed. One issue that particularly annoys me is "Screen switches to Main Phone screen every time phone connects". Glad to see that will be fixed with this update. Unfortunately, my dealer does not have the required USB cable so they have ordered it. I hope it gets there tomorrow! NUMBER: 08-023-11 REV. Who here had a dead battery on a new '11?
drb227 replied to Geer's topic in Electrical, Battery & Charging
DodgeCares, thanks for the quick help with this! I am bringing my Journey in tomorrow to have TSB 08-016-11 Rev. B and 08-023-11 Rev. A performed to fix my issues with the dead battery and now HFM not working after the battery died. I will let everybody know the results of this when I get the vehicle back. -
Who here had a dead battery on a new '11?
drb227 replied to Geer's topic in Electrical, Battery & Charging
Add me to the list of people with a dead battery! This AM my battery was totally dead. The display switched to German, lights started flashing on and off, the wipers moved a couple of times on their own. Had to have it boosted. To make matters worse, my bluetooth is no longer working. When I press the phone icon on the screen, it beeps but doesn't go the phone menu. Also, the VR and phone buttons on the steering wheel do not work. Since this was my first time boosting this vehicle, I decided to use the Chrysler roadside assistance. I was told the tow truck would be there within 45 minutes. It took 1 hour and 35 minutes. I will not be using Chrysler's roadside assistance again. I have CAA and will be using them if this ever happens again. Going to see if I can get an appointment tomorrow to get the TSB applied to fix this issue. -
It was 7.8L/100KM. When I filled up after that tank, the DTE showed 962 km!
-
I did another long road trip a week ago. It was approximately 1400 kms one way. I filled up just before leaving home and really took my time to slowly fill it full. It is a real pain that I have to do that to get the tank completely full. Some gas pumps don't let the gas out slow enough to be able to fill the tank. In some cases, I cannot get the needle to the F no matter how slow I try to fill it. Luckily, the gas station I use most of the time has pumps that can be run fairly slowly to allow me to fill the tank. Anyway, back on topic. On the first tank, I set the cruise at 110 kph because I wanted to see how driving at that speed would affect the gas mileage. I didn't stop to fill up until 911 kms had passed!! The EVIC said I still had just under 100 kms to go on that tank. If I had really pushed it, I possibly could have gone 1000 kms on that tank! Needless to say, I am extremely happy and impressed with the gas mileage of the 3.6L Pentastar V6! The only concerning part was when I filled up that first tank after 911 kms. I put 77.28 litres in the tank!! It is supposed to be a 78 litre tank. That means 1 of three things - a) I was almost completely out of gas and the EVIC was wrong, b ) the gas pump was wrong and I didn't actually put 77.28 litres in the tank, c) the tank is bigger than 78 litres. I freakin' love the power this engine has when passing on hills and down-shifting manually!

Playlists on 8.4 Touchscreen
drb227 replied to abeirnes's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
I do know that you cannot create playlists on the unit itself. It is strictly for accessing playlists on whichever device is attached (SD Card, USB stick, iPod/iPhone,etc.) Unfortunately, I don't know how to create playlists on the device that the Uconnect Touch system can read. -
She didn't say and I didn't ask but she knows that I am in Canada. It would have to be an update for North America at a minimum. I would imagine it will be worldwide at some point. I will update this post as soon as I get the call back from Lisa that it has been released. It's too bad that we can't just install it ourselves!
-
So, Lisa called me back today. She actually called yesterday but I wasn't able to take the call then. She said that the Chrysler engineers are well aware of the issues with the voice command not working for controlling music playback and with the album art not always showing up. She said they have an update that has been tested and is ready to be released. It should be release some time in August but the update has to be done by the dealership. She will call me back when the update is released and will give me the RRT number, to ensure the dealership can find the update. I 'm hoping this update will be released by the time I'm due for my next oil change, which will be in 3 weeks. I did also mention to her about the tracks on an album being shown in alphabetical order, instead of track order. She wasn't sure if that fix is included in the update but she will pass it on to the engineer. Progress!!
