Just did my first road trip this past weekend (July 23/24). It was a marathon trip of 10 hours down on Saturday and 10 hours back on Sunday. The entire trip was all highway, no driving around town the whole time. On the way down, we were driving between 118 and 130 kph. On the first tank, I stopped to fill up after 787 kms. The low fuel light had not come on yet! The EVIC said I had 115 kms to empty, so I likely could have done 900 kms on that tank, if I had pushed it all the way to empty. The EVIC said the fuel economy was 8.4L/100 KMs and fuelly.com reported the same number. On the way back, I wasn't able to fill the tank up quite as fully as the first tank(which I really filled slowly to get it completely full) but I still managed to get 768 kms before filling up. I kept the cruise at 119 kph for pretty much the entire tank. This time the low fuel light was on and I had just under 70 kms to empty. The EVIC said 8.2L/100 KMs and fuelly.com agrees. It appears that the EVIC is fairly accurate when doing all highway driving. It is not overly accurate when doing mostly stop and go city driving, which is what most of my driving is normally. I am going on an even longer trip in less than two weeks (1500 kms 1 way). I'm going to try keeping the cruise at no more than 115 kph on the first tank to see if I can get even better mileage than the last trip. I have to say, I am very happy with my FWD 2011 Crew's highway fuel economy!

Lockpick for uconnect touch
drb227 replied to moondwagon's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
I don't think they have a lockpick for the new 2011 4.3" Uconnect Touch system. At least I couldn't find it on their site. There is no code in the lower right corner of the 2011 Uconnect Touch systems. The 4.3" system is not available with nav, only option for that unit is Sirius, which then makes it the 4.3S model. Your best best would be to call or email them to find out if they will be coming out with a version for the Uconnect Touch 4.3/4.3S -
So I had my Journey in for first service today

Please keep us informed as to what the RRT-11-066 is when you find out. Thanks! -
Looking for steel winter wheels? Might be an option.

How much is the shipping? I would think that with the shipping costs added in, there won't be much savings, if any, to be had? -
I just got off the phone with Lisa from Chrysler in Detroit. She called to find out if I had any issues with the Uconnect Touch system. Chrysler must be aware that there are a number of issues with the Uconnect Touch systems in our 2011 Journeys (and Chargers and 300s). This is what I told her: - I have no issues personally with the bluetooth system as far as phone connectivity and operation is concerned. - My main issues are with music playback: - Album art doesn't always display. I told her that my suggestion is that if the system cannot find a match in the Gracenotes database, it should just display the album art that is embedded in the file (on my SD card or USB memory stick) or find it in the iPhone/iPod (assuming they have access to it) - For a very small number of my songs, the system displays the wrong artist name. Usually, the name has no bearing at all to the actual artist name. I am 100% sure that the ID3 tags are correct for these songs, so I have no idea where it is getting the artist names from. - Voice control of music playback does not work at all. Commands like "Play the artist, play the album, play the playlist" never work. I always get "Command not recognized". Voice control for anything else in the system always works for me, just never for music playback. I forgot to tell her that the tracks in an album are always sorted alphabetically, not in track order. I will call her back later and tell her that. She told me that an engineer is scheduled to meet with her on Monday to review the results of all her calls. I gave her my cell phone number and told that I would be happy to be called at any time to answer any further questions. I plan on calling her back next week to see if she actually did spend time with an engineer. I want her to know that we are very interested in getting all issues fixed.

I've been having this issue as well. Every fill up, I would try to squeeze as much gas in as possible. Usually, the gas gauge needle would barely make it to the F. Sometimes, it would stop just before the F. Today I tried an experiment. I went as slow as possible while filling up, I mean really slow. That worked! The needle went past the F on the gas gauge. It has never done that since I bought the Journey. Must be a very restrictive fuel filler pipe.

Key Sensor
drb227 replied to camley88's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
Have not had that problem myself. Have you tried the other key fob? If they both do the same thing, then the problem is with the system. If the other fob works ok, then it is either a bad battery or something wrong with the fob itself. -
Distance to Empty
drb227 replied to Derekmclain9's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
Not sure there is much that can be done to fix this. I have the same issue, as I suspect would everyone else. As I said earlier in this thread, I've driven my Crew with my gas gauge on the E for a while and still only managed to get 70 litres into the 78 litre tank. The gas gauge is very pessimistic and as a result, so is the DTE calculation. -
2011 Journey - brakes squealing since day one
drb227 replied to Draver17's topic in Brake, Chassis & Suspension
Which dealership do you use in Toronto? Are you happy with their service? I've used Paul Willison once but am thinking of switching to Downsview, since it is closer to my home and I've used them for service before. -
Welcome! I too traded in a 2007 Caliber for my 2011 Crew. Which trim do you have?

Uconnect UPDATE
drb227 replied to SaskGuy's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
It seems that the only item added in this update was playlist support for iPod/iPhone. The only fixed item that I can see is the shuffle no longer uses the same song order every time, which is good. They still have a lot more fixes to get done! -
The floor is different, there would be no cup holders and the seat belts attach behind the seats, like the other seat belts do. I can't see this being a viable option to attempt without spending a TON of money. Would be more sensible and easier to just trade it for a model with the features you want.

Uconnect UPDATE
drb227 replied to SaskGuy's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
Thanks SaskGuy!! I have started following Chrysler Communications on Facebook as well. Have downloaded the update and will install today. -
Really looks good! LOVE the engine cover!!
-
I don't think it would be very easy, if it is even possible. The floor is different between the 2 and 3 row Journeys, not to mention that you'd need the mounting points for the seatbelts and there wouldn't be the cup holders for the 3rd row.
-
Yes, it is very easy to drive the Journey well over 120 without even realizing it! Love the power and the quiet ride!

The USB port is only powered when the vehicle is on. If you look at the symbols on the lighter plug covers, you will see either a key or a battery. Those with the battery symbol are powered even when the vehicle is off. The one inside the centre console and the one at the rear of the centre console are powered at all times. The one above the front storage cubby and the one in the rear cargo area are only powered when the vehicle is on.

Any chance you could post a few pics of it on your Journey?

Thanks for the info! I will ask for these two updates at my next oil change, which will be about 5 weeks from now. I'm an IT service provider as well and it always frustrates me that many dealers simply don't know how to handle these software updates.
-
Do you happen to have a part # or some other identifying number that relates to the two fixes? This would be a big help to get the dealer to apply the right fixes.
-
Please don't create multiple threads with the exact same question. If you do a search, you will find that this issue has been discussed already in other threads.
-
Welcome! Please do a search for "winter tires" and you will find several threads on this subject.

When was your Journey built? The excuse I got was that my Journey already had the update applied, since it was built after the update was released, which I think is B.S. My Journey was built in January. When you get the service done, can you please let us know what the bulletin # was for the repair? I want to be able to request the proper # next time I go in for an oil change.

In Canada, only the R/T comes with AWD for 2011. You should start using www.fuelly.com to track your mileage. Very useful and easy to use.
