Hey Geer, Man, that dealership experience sucks. If I were you, I would name them to help other people avoid them. It is so terrible to have what is a very exciting day ruined by those ass hats. At least you are happy with the Journey. That is what really matters in the end!! Please do keep us informed about the Bluetooth system they are installing. I'm curious to know what it looks like and how well it works.

EVIC Navigation
drb227 replied to deulyd's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
The nav map on the EVIC screen only comes on when you are getting close to a turn or the next step in the navigation list. It seems to start displaying the next step on the EIVC when it is 3.2kms or less away, which is 2 miles US. Are you saying you don't see it ever on your EVIC? If not, there is a setting for that. Go to Settings -> Display -> Navigation Turn by Turn in Cluster needs to be check marked. -
I paid $1500 for my 5yr/100,000km extended warranty. Had it rolled into my monthly payment. Can't remember how much it added over the 5 years of payments but it wasn't a significant amount.

I have now done my second fill up where I have been tracking what the EVIC says in my Crew vs. what I get on fuelly.com. For the first one, the EVIC said 12.7 but fuelly said it was 13.3, so the EVIC was off by 0.6L/100km. Filled up today, the EVIC said 13.6 and fuelly says 14.2, so it is again off by 0.6L/100km. Interesting that I got the exact same variance two fill-ups in a row. Would certainly be helpful to know that my EVIC is always off by 0.6L/100km. I fill up at the same gas station every time and I always fill it up. This last tank was much worse mileage than my previous tank because I did almost no highway driving and I was stuck in heavy stop and go traffic twice. I am still getting over 500kms per tank, which I can live with. My Journey only has 3600kms on it and I don't do much highway driving. Also, the engine is still green, so my gas mileage should improve a bit over time.

Congrats Geer!! I remember how excited I was to pick up my Crew! In regards to the VC and BT buttons, unless you specifically ordered the $300 Uconnect Voice Command w/Bluetooth option on your R/T, I would bet money that you won't have those two buttons. I got the extended warranty on my Crew also. I got the 5 year/100,000 km warranty as I will more than likely want to change vehicles after 5 years.

UConnect 8.4n problems
drb227 replied to Dukeeluv's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
I would guess you will have the same problems that I and others have with the Uconnect Voice Command w/Bluetooth. It mostly works well with the exception of trying to control music playback via USB or SD Card. That part simply does not work at all. Would love to hear your experiences with this when you get the vehicle and have time to play with it. If you wouldn't mind posting your findings to the following thread I created a while back: Thanks! -
The manual says that you have to take it to the dealer to have the auto-lock disabled.

uconnect
drb227 replied to peppermango's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
I'm sorry but I have to say this - learn how to make sentences! Also, it is thumb drive, not thump drive. As deulyd said, there is no hard drive. You can put music on a USB memory stick (thumb drive) or SD Card. I use an SD card and it works great. I just always leave it plugged in unless I need to add more songs. -
Sweet! Pics please!!!

Not happy with 2011 Alpine system
drb227 replied to Spetrie's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
I have the Alpine system in my Crew and I agree that it is not as good as I would have hoped. As I mentioned in a previous thread a while back, I had a 2007 Caliber with the MusicGate sound system. That system kicks the Alpine's ass in terms of overall sound quality. Hard to describe but for me, the Alpine system just doesn't have the "punch" that I was used to with the Caliber. Definitely doesn't handle low down bass nearly as well as my Caliber. It is a decent system but I wouldn't go any farther than that to describe it. I honestly expected it to be on par with what I had in the Caliber and it simply is not. -
Looks sharp! What options did it come with?

Congrats! I have a White Crew and love it. I see you got the new front and rear fascias. Any chance you could post straight shots of both front and back?

I haven't taken mine in yet. Waiting for my first oil change at 5000kms. Should be in the next 3 or 4 weeks. Please keep us updated with what your dealership says/does about this.

2011 8.4N crash with SDHC
drb227 replied to mindorensis's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
Have not yet had this happen to me. Did it show anything on the screen when it rebooted? -
I will be asking for the EVIC update when I take mine in for it's first oil change at 5000kms. I have the exact same problem with the rough up/downshift for 3rd gear. For me, it is much more noticeable when downshifting from 4th to 3rd. It is quite a decent thunk most of the time. Please keep us updated on what the dealer says about your transmission. Maybe start a new thread for it?

Distance to Empty
drb227 replied to Derekmclain9's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
Personally, I think it is pessimistic. The problem is, it stops counting down the kms after a certain point and just says low fuel. I wish it would just keep counting down the kms, like my wife's Fusion. I once waited until my gas guage was on the E for a good bit before filling up and I still had 8 litres of gas left. -
Any chance you could snap a couple of pics?

Still can't build a Crew and the SXT still does not have the 8.4" system available as an option. Maybe they are holding all 8.4" screens for the R/T?

Filled up today. 60.6 litres, 455 kms. Was going to let the tank run down to see how much I could really get out of a full tank but decided to fill up today. Fuelly.com says this is 13.3L/100km. The EVIC said 12.7. It is off a bit and that is not surprising as the car computers are rarely really accurate. If I had been able to maintain the 13.3L/100km for the rest of the tank, I would have gotten approx. 586kms out of the full tank. This is about 70% city/ 30% highway. On this new tank I'm going to take it really easy and see if my mileage increases much.

You don't say which year Journey you have but the instructions on changing the battery for the key fob are in the manual. For the 2011 Journey, the instructions are on page 23. For the 2010 Journey, the instructions are on page 24. For the 2009 Journey, the instructions are on page 25. This is definitely a user replaceable part. No trip to the dealer should be required.

New front facia appearing at Canadian Chrysler dealers
drb227 replied to cat man's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
You mention that it works for changing radio stations, etc. and the phone. That part has always worked for me too. The problem I and many others are having is when you are playing music via SD Card or USB, commands like "Play the artist xyz", "Play the album xyz" or "Play the song xyz" always result in an error that the command was not recognized. Have you tried these commands? -
As posted earlier in this thread, you have to ask the dealer to check for a flash update to repair EVIC with garbled and or scrambled text. That is the update that fixes the MPH/KPH issue for the speed display in the EVIC.

There is a fix for the rough idle, according to this thread:

I have tried them. I have the one for the 2011 Journey. It is kind of like the user guide you get with the Journey. It gives info on many of the features of the vehicle. To me, it's really not that useful. In fact, I haven't used it since I got my Journey.
