Remote Not Rolling Down Windows
drb227 replied to SueBOhio's topic in Glass, Lighting, Mirrors, Sun Roofs & Wipers
On my 2011 Crew, I press the unlock button twice. On the second press, I hold it and the front windows roll down. I do the two presses quickly, no pause in between presses. BTW, they are called DRLs (daytime running lights). -
If you have a 2012, then your engine is the 3.6L Pentastar, not the 3.5L I have a real hard time believing that your are getting 8.71 L/100KM in the city, let alone 7.47 on the highway. Your calculations must be way off. Something is not right, especially with a green engine. The best I ever got on the highway was 7.8L/100KM and that was just me, driving at a constant 110 kph for the entire tank. I'm not calling you a liar but something has to be wrong with your numbers. How are you calculating these numbers?

HELP am i the only one with transmission problem
drb227 replied to disappointed's topic in Engine & Transmission
I can tell you for sure that on my 2011 Crew, the transmission will shift into 6th gear at 70 kph, IF you are going very light on the throttle. If you are accellerating a little (or a lot) harder, it will eventually shift into 6th. This is totally normal. My wife's 08 Fusion does essentially the same thing. -
It all comes down to people taking responsibility to be informed consumers. That, you did not do. There is no way I would make a large purchase like a car without doing a lot of research to know exactly what I was getting myself into. I would also suggest you keep the smart-ass comments to yourself. You know NOTHING about me, where I live or what I do. I'm tired of dealing with you, so I'm done with this thread.

You seriously think that every time a dealer sells a car, they should tell the purchaser the cost of items like a replacement key fob or other parts??? Wow. It is up to YOU to be an informed consumer BEFORE making a major purchase like a car. I would think that somebody with 2 BAs and a Masters would know that but what do I know?

Kristina, what do you expect people to say when your posts are just complete bitching about the Journey and how you'll never have another Chrysler product, blah blah blah. Posting the way you did is not going to make people want to help you. All it appeared that you wanted to do was bitch about how much you hate the Journey and Chrysler. Didn't seem to me that you were looking for any help either. We don't need your kind of negativity here. Good luck with whatever you buy next.

If you go through the menus in the Nav screen, you will find an About button somewhere. That is where you find your date info. I received the update DVD on Friday and installed the update. It was quite simple. Once you insert the DVD, it first verifies the update, then asks if you want to proceed. You have to write down a few numbers that it shows on the screen, then go to garmin.com/chrysler and select the option to activate the map. It will give you an activation code, which you must then enter into the screen on the Journey. After that, it takes roughly an hour for the update to load. Once done, I confirmed that my map was now dated 2012, where before it had been dated 2011. At the garmin website, it only shows the 2012 map update for the 2011 models. It would not make any sense that it would show an update available that was for the 2011 maps, since that is what was already installed. Same reason why there is no map update for 2012 models. They already have the 2012 version of the maps. Next year, you will see that the 2012 models will show up with an update, which will be the 2013 version of the maps. I'm not sure that I will do this again any time soon. It is a fair chunk of change for this update and all you get is the current map release, no new features or any other changes at all.

Yup. Too many people just cannot take responsibility for their own actions or use common sense!

Could you not buy Scotchgard and just spray the seats yourself? Would be much cheaper, assuming this is for cloth seats. However, I believe the seats in the Journey already have a stain repellant in them?

So I got the following message on my 2011 8.4N : I decided to go to www.garmin.com/chrysler and whaddaya know, there is finally a map update for the 2011 8.4N! I have ordered it. The cost was $149 + $29.95 shipping to Canada, for a total of $178.95. A little steep but I want the latest map available. No idea how long it will take to arrive but I will be sure to document the update procedure with pictures!

As bigtsr said, get used to this. More and more cars are going to have this style fob with push button start and before long, they will all be like that. Many "normal" keys these days even have chips in them (to aid in reducing vehicle thefts), so you cannot just get them duplicated anywhere.

2010 Journey SXT PLUS Remote starter
drb227 replied to Adam Fredrickson's topic in Accessories, Modifications
Not sure if that was ever an option for the 09 and 10 models. -
2010 Journey SXT PLUS Remote starter
drb227 replied to Adam Fredrickson's topic in Accessories, Modifications
It is likely temperature related. On the 2011 (and 2012?), when the outside temp is below 4.4 C (40 F), the heated seat will come on automatically. This is with normal start or remote start. I'm not sure what triggers the rear defrost to come on automatically but it has happened numerous times in my 2011 Crew. -
Glad to see that there really is an issue! It's really annoying that I can't get the tank full most times. Can you post the source of this info? I'd like to be able to bring this to my dealer at my next service.

Yes, this can be done. I had to have that done to my front calipers when I got my 16" steelies and winter tires. They took very little off.

Nav Randomly Reboots
drb227 replied to generaltso's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
I've never had my 2011 8.4N reboot -
There is a gracenotes database already installed on the 8.4/8.4N units. Chrysler also has this in their other touch screen units in other vehicles, as do many other manufacturers. If you turn off the music cleanup option, album art no longer displays. If you turn it back on, album art displays again. This is from the Dodge website: Integrated Gracenotes® database provides Music ID and Album Art as well as generates voice tags, allowing songs and artists to be selected using voice recognition commands

This is a well known issue that has been discussed in several threads here. No fix as of yet, not sure there ever will be one. These systems all(not just Dodge) use the Gracenotes database for album art. It doesn't seem to be very complete. Also, if any of your songs aren't tagged correctly, that will prevent the album art from being found. I made a suggestion to Chrysler a while back - if the album art is not found in the database, just use the album art in the music file itself or better yet, if you turn off the option to use Gracenotes in our 8.4 systems, just use the album art embedded in the file(USB or SD Card) or use the album art from the iPod/iPhone itself.
