  1. might want to check the salvage yards for a used one also
  2. well i just replaced the brakes on my daughters jeep patriot (her mail vehicle about 28 k on them) so she could have went about maybe another 10 k or so on the front but went ahead and changed them out anyways since i was that far into it but the rear pads were getting pretty thin ( she was hearing a squeaking noise at times) so replaced them as well her other jeep a bigger wrangler i had to replace the rear brakes at about 20 k (one of her rotors got ruined) her front pads still looked good, got me thinking hell i got 72 k on my journey so i ordered front and rear pads (thermoquiet, Wagner) and will put them on next week, i thought well the pads on the rears are always smaller then the front so might as well replace them in good weather when i am not in a hurry than wait and maybe ruin some rotors i dont plan on replacing the rotors as when i rub my finger on them they are smooth as a baby's but... will up date on the condition of the pads after i get them done....
  3. well you say the solenoid is good, but if the starter is spinning but the car inst starting then the solenoid is not doing its job to pop out the gear to engage the flywheel, i would be checking the that out again and or any other electrical part that would involve the solenoid. i had a truck yrs ago doing the same thing ( it would start one day or couple of days then wouldn't start)the dealership replaced the starter and said it was fixed couple days later it happened again took it back they changed out the starter and solenoid again and kept it for a few days saying they were checking it out at different times during the day and was working fine told me come get it, I went to start it and it wouldn't start ended up being a small black box on top of the eng (have no idea what it was) charged me another $10. and i never had another problem with the truck starting....
  4. well after someone posted about changing out the refelectors in the bottom of the rear bumper the cost seemed to expensive for me,so i just reordered some more of the small fog minnbar lights off amazon and then ran my wire that i tapped into the reverse light and instead of running the wire under the plastic trim on the hatch back i just neatly ran it up the corner of the metal and used some gorilla sliver tape to cover it and it blends in so great with my silver journey then ran the wire under the rubber seal down to the bottom of the bumper and then added the light they are about 5 1/2 inches long by 2 inch wide.drilled a hole in the reflector in the center for the wiring to go thur and then drilled 2 holes for the screws to go thur the end of the lights to hold them to the reflector the outside edge of the light is about 1/2 from being flat to the reflector but it looks pretty good and man do they throw the light when backing up didnt have no codes being shown from adding the led lights. had to add these as when i use the carrier on the back to carry my wife's 3 wheel scooter kind of blocked the back up lights...maybe i can get my daughter to take some pics and put them on here since i dont know how and i just have a old flip phone.... 5. hey since you have the air compressor in there get a tire plug kit might save you sometime when you are out in the boondocks...i carry a tire plugging kit and a great small air compressor just in case, because it did happen to me on the way home from Las Vegas picked up a screw in my front tire in new mexico at Clines Corners Travel Center i got lucky and some traveling rodeo cowboys were travailing by and stopped and they had a plug kit and pumped up the tire and back on my way home in just a short amount of time
  6. well try a different dealership even if it means a further trip down the road, I havent had any problems , more info would be nice like is it awd or fwd, mileage on it, do you feel the vibration while under power and or just coasting, any an all info is needed for someone to maybe help you, no problem with the venting as it sucks to have a new car and the dealership is no help. maybe the dodge adviser on here could get involved and help you out??????/
  7. as i said welcome to the group as far as the trans fluid it is hard to believe the dealership would tell you that i have already had the dealership change my transmission fluid and filter once at about 65 k,the manual calls to change it at 100 k but it only makes sense as that fluid is under more stress and heat than your engine oil. and since you are using it in the city that is a lot more stop and go than normal.you might want to change out the power steering fluid and brake fluid as well take care and keep it between the ditches.
  8. lol kind of touchy arn"t you, you are the one being a twit, you come on here saying how you dont want to do any maintenance that the manufacture recommends on your vehicle and then ask for advice on what needs to be done? you are not making any friends here but you will find a lot of great advise if you ask in the right way. sorry if you took what i was typing wrong but reread what you posted and i believe you have to admit it sounded like you are a know it all or just not sure how it sounded to us on the forum, either way good luck with your journey and hope it continues to give you great service...
  9. well i have a 2014 crossroad and I bought the ins. soon after buying my journey,at about 45 k I had a oil sending unit go bad while on vacation and took it to the local dodge dealership they set me up with a rental and called the next day said it was ready, paid my ded of $100. and i asked him how much did they charge for this if no warranty and he said anywhere from $450 -500 not counting the rental car. so far that is all iv saved so i am still behind on the cost of the policy and i hope i never have to use it again but with engines and transmission and other big money parts costing so much i am glad i bought it. first time in my life i ever bought a extended warranty but i plan on driving the wheels off this journey getting ready to put on new tires Monday and the local ford dealership have a side business going called quick lane they are nationwide and they offer a lifetime 4 wheel alignment for $179. unlimited amount of alignment any time i want as long as i own the car but it cannot be transferred to the next owner. so after getting my tires I am heading down there for the alignment, i figure after 2-3 visit i will be even or ahead on that as 4 wheel alignments cost about $70-90 around here.good luck on what ever you decide to do as all you really are doing id buying insurance in case you need it down the line. i bought my maxcare lifetime warranty thur http://www.chryslerfactoryplans.com/
  10. because you answered it in your first post, by not doing the maintenance when you know its due.....
  11. go with dodge if you want oem and no hassles or problems will cost a little more but more quality parts used than off brand units.. the cheap comes out expensive ,most of the time.....
  12. call the dealership for a cost est. of course they will want you to pay a service call for checking it out... i am sure insurance will be the cheapest way to fix it...

  15. look on Craigs list for wheels for your journey i often see journey wheels listed there ,or by some aftermarket wheels and tires. discount tire online runs a lot of great discount during every holiday when buying tires and better deals when buying wheels and tires ,they also offer i think 6 months free financing check them out they are who i use for my tires and also my daughters mail vehicle..welcome to the group....
  16. long shot on the screen but remove it and make sure everything is connected tight, you tube has many vidioes on removing screen and trim and radio, also has battery removeal process on you tube
  17. as IMoore stated if your still in warranty yrs and miles you WOULD be covered even if your the 7th owner i guess who ever told you that it wasn't the dealership, so much for second hand advice.....and every manufacture has problems and glitches and since cars are getting so much more complicated with computers and software and also dealerships not able to catch up to all the new technology, there will always be problems and such.
  18. well since this does seam to be a rare problem i dont see how you can blame the manufacture as things do tend to break down or not work as expected ,sorry you are having this problem. guess its time to do what most of have to do .put it in for repair at the dealership and hope for the best.....good luck on what ever you do.
  19. you have to join only takes a few minutes then they approve you real quick
  20. mainly undersized brakes and rotors i had 2011 that was my only problem and i just used aftermarket rotors and pads, traded in at about 70k for my2014 a lot bigger brakes and rotors have about 72k on this one had to have a oil sender replaced at about 45k under my max care warranty.... i really like both journeys....P.S. had the 3.6 in both and as previous stated i have fwd i wouldn't buy a awd version.....
