first thing i would have done is swing by the dealership, they probably could help for free. i was having problems removing my second row headrest and was afraid of messing them up, went by the dealer and the manager said yea they come off he went out with me and showed me how to remove them, no problem and he created goodwill for free. a win-win....

well if it's the org thermostat i'd try replacing that at least you would eliminate that from list.i would assume if it was stuck open tho your engine temp would be showing that.

Trouble with LED headlight
2late4u replied to HugoClement's topic in Glass, Lighting, Mirrors, Sun Roofs & Wipers
was this 3 different sets of led (different brands ) or all from the same brand.......as i had no problem with my led lights. -
could be fixed as easy as just replacing the cap or something more complicated who knows.my son has a 5 yr old gmc truck that has twice had a warning light about his emission control problem both times has been a cheap fix but it happens to all the manufacture of autos. nature of the beast, of course in the old days you wouldn't get no warnings that something wasn't right and it would go until it caused a real problem or breakdown at a unfortunate time. just wait till we get driverless cars won't that be fun,,,,,, i dont think so...

if it was me and you are planning on keeping it for a long time i would probably replace all the mounts eng and trans.cheaper to do all at once then at different times....

probally a freeze plug that has rusted out, you need to get a mechanic to check it out. or fooling with it yourself you will probably overheat the engine and ruin it... good luck
-
replace the engine mounts and then see if the noise is gone.

been wanting to get one also seems like biggest complaint is the can't handle the heat thur the windshield, seems like a unit with a remote camera would be the best solution to that problem, and also theft it it was remote like in the glove box or somewhere away from line of sight and heat. what units have you looked at?

any body shop would have the replacement riv nuts that is needed ,you drill out the old one it is made of aluminum and then replace it with the new one..... if you want to improvise and not buy the tool take a L bracket and drill a hole on one end bigger than the screw that the new riv nut takes and then push the rivnut into the hole in the body of the car and then hold the bracket in front of the hole and then thread the screw thur the brackets hole and into the rivnut and then hold the bracket tight against the body and then tighten the screw till it bottoms out and then remove the screw and the new riv nut will be tightened up in the car body's hole works on the same principle as a rivet gun only using the treads to tighten the body of the riv nut..or simply ask the body shop how much they would charge you to do it for you.....

welcome to the group, i have 2014 crossroad as well.the transmission has a learning period of its own and will learn your driving habits you might will find a small clunk when shifting from P to D or P to R if you jump in and try to shift it before it has a chance to warm up,this is a common quirk to most journeys it happens to mine once in awhile and no it cannot be fixed, but as with mine it happens hardly ever as i take my time when getting started.congrats on the new vehicle i am sure you will enjoy it more than the jeep,a lot smoother ride and a lot more room......

Door Lock Confirmation?
2late4u replied to pivko's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Key Fobs, Locks & Remote Start
no, you could read the manual in case the freemont might have more option that we journey dont have....you could check around for aftermarket devices. -
i wasn't saying to not tell them what you think is wrong but most service writers seem to have an attitude that they know it all, also if you go in and say well the codes say i have x,y, and z and want it fixed that might not be the original cause of the problem and then when it doesn't fix the problem they will say well we fixed what you said ,as i have had that happen before. so i tell them my problem and let them come to the conclusion to the problem at least it is on them if they dont get the problem solved it is up to them to find it. as an example with my new 2014 drossroad the drl were not working, so Journeyman added the sales code for me and then said take it to the dealership and have them do a flash to activate them, so i went to the dealership told them what i needed , 20 minutes later the manager comes and says david we can't find that you even have a drl code in your system and they couldn't do it , i kept arguing that the sales code had already been added and unless their mechanic didnt know what he was doing or messed up my system and around that time and older mechanic was walking by and heard us arguing about it and he said whats going on and i explained what i needed done and he said i know what needs to be done and less than 10 minutes later the manager comes up and says okay everything is working now and said the younger mechanic didnt know what or how to do it. But he also didnt have a clue on what needed to be done himself.

dealership might be the best place to go, now you have done the basic stuff that they may have done also. plus they have the experience on these cars and electronics also.

just wondering do you think the way it was made taking air in at the top them going downward then into the air box might have been designed to keep water from being sucked into the filter. if it comes straight into the filter causing problems ?

Happy New Journey owner but crazy hitch question
2late4u replied to grapeguy's topic in Hauling & Towing
as i said above i did notice a slight drone noise when i hit the gas didn't seem to hear it before the install of the hitch( thinking it might be from the hitch making a more solid connection at the rear between the frame) but i havent noticed any loss of power or such. now i did add a folding carrier that has a folding loading ramp for my wife's 3 wheel medical scooter and even with that didnt notice any loss of power. i avg about 22 mpg ( in town and some out of town driving) with or without the scooter loaded and the scooter weighs about 250 lbs, but on long trips on the interstate i still will avg about 23-25 mpg. happy with my Journey anyways.... -

Happy New Journey owner but crazy hitch question
2late4u replied to grapeguy's topic in Hauling & Towing
the tow hitch i bet doesn't weigh more than 40 lbs,so that wouldn't cause any difference -
i would do the 4 cyl, but i have the 3.6 and i watched a video or 2 on how to do it, and i guess i'm showing my age but think i would rather pay someone to do it since it only once every 100k...

used with the old oil filters 2011-2013 you can youtube it, it was a small plastic part over a spring that the oil filter slipped over when being installed, guess it was easily broken somehow you can get the replacement part from dorman #917-992, I had to youtube 2013 dodge journey oil by pass valve broken to see what he was talking about.....

as if it would make a difference on which way the filter actually fits the first time when it's brand new it will still work.only if you just shake it off and reuse it you would want it to go back in the same way....

Premature rear brake wear - sticky caliper
2late4u replied to NiceTrip's topic in Brake, Chassis & Suspension
cant complain about my journey , i have 67k on the speedo and checked the pads on the last tire rotation and they look about 1/4- to 1/2 gone.and you might be like the big crown vic i seen a couple of days ago that kept hitting their brakes in the left lane and drove with her foot resting on the brake even when she was picking up speed of course she was holding up traffic since she was blocking us from passing, thank goodness that only lasted for about 3 miles before she finally made her left turn.
