i've had two journeys a 2011 and now a 2014 crossroad and both had acted a little strange when i traveled from alabama to las vegas which is a much drier climate and higher elevation and first time the locks and remotes acted up and the air conditioning would only come out the floor vents but then straightened out before i got back home and the last time my compass lost its sense of which way was east or west ,had to get my book out and found there is a way to reset it... oh well strange things happen when you put so many electronics and computers chips in these new fangled cars.also my key fobs are hard on the batteries so i would do like fred said and replace, them less than about $6. here in the U.S. good luck and keep us posted with updates great to see and hear from members so far away.....

2013 Journey sxt caliper guide pin help
2late4u replied to Ascended69's topic in Brake, Chassis & Suspension
my daughters 2007 caravan when i do her front pads when i removed both caliper pins to clean and grease, one of them also has a rubber sleeve on it and if i remove that one it will not go back in because the sleeve has swelled up i've been told by a couple of mechanics its because of the pin grease.i have always used, the stuff you buy in the little packet that the stores sells so i replaced that piece and when ever i have to. i have since bought some better grease that is supposed not to do that to rubber parts. but i dont remove that pin anymore and barely grease it and as long as i have done that it still slides smooth so dont remove the pins unless they are hanging up or wont slide easy. and no you need that rubber boot on the pin. cant say which pin you are having problems with as its a different vehicle... -
use to work for chrysler and all the bezels i've ever seen were all made one piece with the plastic lens you will probable have to replace the whole lens if you can get one.....would be cheaper to get one from a salvage yard i would guess....

check the dodge website it will show them all....

i would ride with the service tech in your journey and point out what it is doing then go back to the lot and pick out one of the other NEW journey and both of you go for a drive and see if it is shifting different. i have never really felt what you describe, i have had the bang or jolt going into forward or reverse a few times or a few times were the trans was trying to decide which gear it wanted but no big deal or very often. 70 k on my 2011 and now have a 2014 with 52k on it. love my journey.....

well my 2011 was a little off when full and my 2014 reads okay, it can be a little irritating when you think hey i paid 25k and the fuel tank reading is a little off but i learned a long time ago not to sweat the little things in life now if you are running out of gas and having to walk then yes it is bad but never happened to me so i dont consider it a problem worth worrying about myself. as i love my journey and of course i dont get below 3/4 empty without looking for a gas station. just saying good luck all

what ever meets mopar standards,

well just turned about 51k on my 2014 and i have the max lifetime mopar warranty and i have always had my trans fluid changed in the past vech. at about 30-40k so i was reading in our manual with reg driving change it at 100k so i asked my dealership and they recommend to do it sooner then what the book says and yea i know they just want to make money, as they try to push oil changes every 3k . but it does make sense to do it a little earlier than 100k ,as i do my oil changes at about 6k with syn. oil so why not do the trans early at least i would be covered with warranty..... what do you all think? also i hate not having the dip stick to check the fluid color and level.....i believe they get about 150 -175 to do the trans service......

well installed a curt hitch a while back with the intentions of buying a scooter cargo carrier for the back of the journey so got to checking them out and decided to go with discount ramps to buy from. well decide to talk to a handicapped store in town and they told me that with the journeys tongue weight of 200 lbs that they wouldn't recommend that i use one as i would be over what is recommended from dodge. so i checked the book and dodge says journeys have a 200 lbs tongue weight limit and since the carrier i bought weighs in at 65 lbs and her scooter weighs in at 160 lbs for a total of 225 lbs of tongue weight, the hitch is rated at up to 400 lbs tongue weight doesn't count. well even tho i will be over by 5 lbs i dont think we will have any problems but i sure didnt anticipate all this when i started out looking for something for her scooter. all that time we were out in Vegas and i had to lift it up and slide it into the hatchback which kind of got my back to hurting...anyway the scooter rides up the ramp on this carrier real easy and just tie it down with some straps and lift the ramp back up and off we go,also when not in use the carrier lifts up and is about 5 inches from the back of the hatchback only bad thing about that it kind of blocks my rear back up cam, but when the scooter is loaded on in it the camera still gets pretty good vision back there. just ordered a cover for the scooter from discount ramps, they are a little pricey but they are always offering 10-15 discount with free shipping so kind of evens out.one other hting of course all these carriers are made in china so there was one bracket that was bent but my sledge hammer fixed that and then had to touch up some scrapped parts with some black paint... used it this afternoon and went to my daughter's, house to pick up her pressure washer to clean the concrete drive in the morning so it's doing double duty since i sold my truck and i am now kind of regretting doing that...

like jkeaton said get it checked. Most auto stores auto zone , advance auto. will check them both for free. has the battery been changed or is it the org one? check all your connections and wires for any problems or as dusty265 says it could be the alt. either way good luck

well with people buying these fancy cars that will drive themselves and then read a book or watch a dvd while the car is doing its thing, its crazy.when i am a passenger in a car on a long trip i end up taking a snooze. and sure,it works great at first so did my computer but after a while i have to reboot it after it freezes up i dont want to have to reboot my car when my life depends on it....
-
okay so much is being said about letting the car drive for you, hmm wonder what everyone else thinks about this future option? i myself wouldn't trust them and dont believe they will be coming in the near future,so many things to go wrong hell sometimes my air condition starts coming out of the wrong vents, or my doors unlocking and beeping at me after i have got out and locked the car and walking away. Or the big one you are going down the interstate 70 -80 mph and the cars doing its thing but of course you are supposed to stay awake or not read a book or any other crazy thing.and just think about insurance wise who what will happen in a accident everybody blaming each other just like the air bag replacement from Takata and they are going broke. just last year me compass in my journey forgot which way was north or south, east or west had to reprogram it by driving in a circle in a large parking lot to reset it, Would trust a Uber or Lyft driverless car to take you around town in vegas with all their drunk drivers ... LOL what do you all think?????

that is the site i bought my mopar extended warranty from.He sells the plan a lot cheaper than you can get from your reg dealer. is it worth it? it depends on how long you plan to keep your journey. i plan on driving mine till the wheels fall off i have a 2014 crossroad and already have over 50 k on it, at about 40k after the reg warranty went out i had a problem with the oil pressure sending unit go bad while i was out of town on a trip, so i took it to the local dodge dealership where i was staying ,and they gave me a rental car free of charge and and about 6 hrs later called me said the journey was ready all it cost me was $100. deductible and $7 dollars for tax on something, i asked how much would this have cost without my extended ed warranty and he said between 450 -500 including the rental car. so i am glad i bought the max lifetime miles and yrs warranty with a 100 deductible per occurrence as long as the repair doesn't cost more then what the journey is worth at the time of repair i am covered.. and it is a MOPAR warranty good at any dodge dealership in the USA...

i was just looking and i found about 20 of them riv nuts in a jar mixed in with other bolts and things when i worked at the chrysler minivan plant in st louis i was a Quality Control person and while we were inspecting the van going down the line we were supposed to pick up the screws and other parts left in the van after being dropped there during assy. i saved all the small screws and such and put them in a jar and since chrysler would throw things like that away as they didnt want to take time to sort that stuff out they would just throw it away, i would take it home with me....after 2 yrs up there i have a good assortment of fasteners and screws and small parts.....LOL you could probably find them riv nuts at any good auto store or go to your local body shop they would have some.....

that is a riv nut insert ( at least that was what we called it)that is pressed into the body metal. using a oversize screw can damage the threads and also cause it to start to turn and loosen its grip on the metal body . if it is loose it needs to be removed and a new one inserted which requires a special tool to do it. the riv nut insert is inserted into the hole then the screw is tightened until the outer edge is pulled up tight around the body. kind of like a rivet it call easily be drilled out it is just made of aluminum and a new one put in just be careful nut to drill it out making the hole oversize for the new one you are putting in...
