found a u tube video made by a Chrysler tech showing how to find and get the old oil sender unit out without removing the intake so it is possible you do need a special kind socket and be a little limber to reach it.of course the dealership and most mechanics go by the book on how much labor they charge even if they use the short cut. the part at advance auto is $46. and isnt carried in stock has to be ordered so you could expert the dealers price to be higher...

they supplied some plastic sleeves to change the color of the light i put the blue ones on but didnt like the white- blue hue it gave so took them off and it gives a more white light so going to not use the sleeves ,they also had some slightly yellow sleeves also.they went it very easy and seem better than the stock bulbs , wrapedd the old bolds up in some paper towel and put them in a plastic bag and stuck them in the floor bins in case they are needed later on...

well you might be right on an experienced mechanic could change it out faster than most people BUT when your 300 miles from home and no tools or even wanting to try and change it out. at least it is covered for my peace of mind for as long as i own it by using the dodge dealership . I was just putting some info out there for the other readers to hear as he said also that he has seen a few of these sender switches go bad. plus the switch at auto zone was about $30-40 so of course the dealers price would be more. and as for the lights maybe i did buy a cheap set as you say they are but they are on and looks like they are throwing more light then my org. ones.i didnt bother to check the cutoff as you are saying, but drove them down the road and no one was flashing me so i would assume there is no problem there... thanks for your input no matter on how negative you always seem to be.....I also was pointing out that this was a covered part on the extended unlimited yrs. and miles warranty..

well got about 3/4 way on our trip to the casino and the motor light comes on and no messages showing so i start checking evic readings and oil pressure is reading real high so since the light isn't flashing i keep going and get to the casino and check in and of course its Sunday so i get up early Monday morning and take it to the local dealership about 30 miles a way and they check it with the scanner and says yea its the pressure sending unit giving a erratic reading so they write it up and of course i have 40 k on the journey and its not covered under the power train warranty but it is covered under my max care extended warranty that i got on this journey so they set me up with a rental car that was free under the warranty and they called me later on that evening saying they got it fixed and also done my recall for the brake wiring. he said the oil unit is on the outside of the engine but you have to take the intake off to get to it.. well cost me $107. for my deductible and he said normal charge would be about $450 - 500 without warranty to fix it. so glad i got it. ALSO i ordered some led light and they came with some little plastic sleeves 2 marked for 10000 k brilliant blue and 2 marked 3000 k golden yellow and are made to go over the led if you want to ad color to your lights,so my questions is do you have to use them or do you install them without either to give a more whiter light???? no real instructions in the box them were the ones jeakon posted in a post Yita master led any help would be nice i sent a email to them but like a kid with a new toy wanting to put them in tonight.... oh also lost this trip in the poker room but not to bad....well went ahead and put them in with the blue sleeve on it will see how they look tonight......

looks good BUT i am not a fan of owners covering their brake lights with dark coverings true some light shows thur but NOT like it is supposed to. guess thats the old fuddy duddey in me. in my 40 yrs of driving seen to many custom cars on the road with little tiny turn lights or darkened brake lights and have almost hit some because not realizing they are braking. oh well as i said looks good and be safe...... -
i know you probable posted it but what kind of cam did you buy? and how easy was it to set up and use for tech challenged people

my 2014 the locks quit working for a day last yr while i was out in Laughlin NV went to the dealer the next moring and before i got there they started working so i leave and stop and wash my car then the air would only work thur the floor vents so made an appt for several days later up in Vegas and just before i was to take it in everything started working again so i cancel the appt. and no more of thoes problems since then now at 40k

last time i was at my dealership i asked them when should i have the trans serviced as i was getting close to 40 k and he said well we recommend that you change it around 35-45k so i said well doesn't the book call for it at about 120 k unless you do a lot of towing or heavy duty service then at 60 k . he just looked at me and said yes thats what the book says but you asked me what we recommend and i told you. so i guess he told me in his mind to go **** my self, but thats how they make their money i guess...

bought some black magic tire wet gel and applied it to the tires 2 weeks ago and re-did the tires again today, sure does make them shine and look great. this stuff is better then the spray on kind that is real thin and doesn't last.this stuff is thick and gooey and they give you a little applicator to use and you just dab it on and or wipe it on and man does it last, it cost about $7. at Walmart but it is really worth it. i did the black plastic on the roof rails and around the front on the black edge let it sit on for a hour and then went back and wiped it off with a dry rag kind of buffed it it a little and it made ever thing look new and shiny and didnt really collect any dust or dirt on them. so I used the bottle 2 times and it is still over 3/4 full so it will be cheaper than using the cheaper stuff you spray on as it doesn't last as long as this stuff does. the tires really didnt look bad enough to redo yet but after washing it i still had a little energy left so what the hell......yrs ago i heard the stuff they sold wasn't really good for your tires as it makes them rot or dry out faster than normal but i go thur tires faster than most people as i just turned 40 k on this journey, to many casino trips i guess...

well as you all know my granddaughter van got wrecked last week so we have been out looking at cars her dad wants her to buy a used car or van up to 10 k we looked used and new she told me why do i want to buy something old and poss have to put money into it, so she is looking at a 2016 kia soul about 17 k out the door 5 yr 60 k bumper too bumper with a 10 yr 100 k power train, not happy she wants a import but they do drive great and gives her 5 yrs with no $$$ out for repairs, reviews on line have been good about them havent really seen anything bad so at 23 yrs old, i think she has thought it out and is making a good decision....her big argument is she would rather pay for a new one then a old one that was someones else problems -

i have to say didnt you hear the noise before you bought it????if you bought it at a dodge dealership then you might have some recourse going higher up thur the chain of command. but if it was a car lot other than dodge then more likely buyer beware,,, good luck on what ever you find out -
my 2011 broke on the pass side dealer replaced it then it broke again after warranty ran out i just held it up where it was supposed to hang and drilled a small hole thur the plastic and metal in the middle of the plastic towards the front and then ran a small black screw into it never had no more problem well traded in on my 14 journey and the pass side broke on it also so didnt even take it back to the dealer just did the same thing still working great..... yes its a cheap ass plastic part that is not really up to high standards but out of both cars was my only problem except for the warped rotors that the dealer fixed and never had any more problems SO i am okay with it and LOVE my journey........well just remembered had a small problem with my 14 the divers side plastic step cover came loose once when my foot hit it and lifted it,never would stay down after that the dealer fixed it just before it went out of warranty and if it happens again i see a small black screw going into it also.........

Glad to see ya.......

well if the noise as you stated brothers you i would suggest not buying it. as for me i love my journey, first one 2011 now a 2014 but like the other poster said i live in the south so not much snow, but i try not to be to picky about the little things. but like i said if this bothers you before you have bought, it it will bug the hell out of you later...good luck with what ever you decide on.....

well my granddaughter and her brother and his wife with their 1 yr old baby got rear ended today in their 2004 caravan that i gave her. they were stopped at a red light behind another car and a young girl slammed into the back of her van and then pushed her into the car in front of her, van will probably be totaled i sure. crunched the front end almost into the engine and the rear was pushed in almost to the rear bench seat... weird that none of the air bags went off!!!! everyone went to the Emerg Rm. but then they were released a few hours later guess they will be real sore tomorrow. at least the girl that hit her had insurance... her air bag went off and it had blood all over the steering wheel havent heard how she ended up... always thought if you were hit hard front or rear the air bags were supposed to protect you,of course they way the air bags problems going on maybe they are lucky they didnt go off....sure am glad they are all safe and the Emerg. rm was telling them that after a wreck they are supposed to replace the baby seat even if it doesn't look like nothing is wrong with it....you all take care out there and be on the look out for the other guy.all in a blink of an eye.......

So I had my cylinder head replaced. . .
2late4u replied to redtomatoman's topic in Engine & Transmission
i would take it back and let them do a cold startup and be ready to argue with them that they didnt hear it or its no problem.at least get it in writing that you hear the noise. kind of sounds like a bearing noise in the belt tensioner at first good luck -
yes looks a lot better black...

i was talking about the rears which i mistakenly thought he was talking about, and yes the front blades have many different options on blades i prefer using bosh beam blades as they last a long time with no problem but they are a little pricey...

dont think any other kind will fit......

first off are you wanting better mpg? what kind of driving do you do city ? city ,hwy mix?the journey might not get the mpg you are wanting if you are heavy footed and do alot of city driving.if you do alot of hwy driving you will get alot better mpg. the journey is a great car and you will love it.price does seam high as 2017 will be out soon and they are offering 3500 rebates you should be able to get a brand new one for about 22k or even less but thats up to you......
-
yes just had that happen to me on my 2014 I returned the first one and tried a different brand and its no better, havent made it down to the dealership to check on theirs...funny thing is on my 2011 I replaced it with a aftermarket one and didnt have no problem....

My Stereo is draining my Battery

i dont have a dog in this fight but it does sound like what camper is saying is right because that would prevent stolen radios from being used as you would have to know the vin for each one...BUT as i say i dont know the answer to the question being debated here..... -

before i started buying more radios i would disconnect the radio from the wiring harness and drive for a couple of weeks to see if that actually is the problem before spending a lot of money and then find out it was something else.....
