ive got 55k on my2011 and the fronts had been done thur warrenty at the dealer at 28 k (2nd time) so thought id check my rears and the rotors are smooth as silk and the inside pad is wore down a little more than half,so guess i am good for about another20 k or so. every yr around may thermoQuite runs a rebate on their pads and i buy thur advance auto and use retailmenot.com and get an extra $20. over $50 purchase and also with advance when the thermoquiets wear out they will replace them 1 time for free. saves quite alot of the price of brake jobs. i also do my daughters mail vec. maintance so it really saves money for her.LOL take care everyone

OEM backup camera?
2late4u replied to spl147's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
also you have to have re2/ re4 radio only for it to work. i have printed the paperwork and am going to check my local delaer with my vin # and have him see if this can be done and how much they would charge ill post next week after i find out. as i have been wanting to update my 8.4 with the rear cam but all the dodge dealers have told me no way, and i didnt want to use aftermarket parts such as lockpic as ive heard their parts are not up to standard. -

you did see in the parts instruction that the dealer will have to do a sales code update to your computer for this to work at least thats what i was reading in the paperwork. let us know how it works after you get it done. i was going to give this info to my dodge dealer to check out as they told me they cant add the rear camera as its not a parts option for them. -
30 yrs. with chrysler, worked the assy. lines, and line support. seen it all and done most every job that was offered.I have been retired 6yrs. as of now.It was an interesting and at times stressful job , but If I could go back and do it different. No i was blessed to meet so many different and interesting friends and belonged to the UAW union that has fought to help everyone live a good life with a good retirement benifits. To many companies only thinking about what is good for them in the short term and not worried about their workers and what happens to them after they put in their 30 yrs.

cannot be done using dodge parts, i have checked several dealerships as mine came with the 8.4 but no rear cam. their are after market rear cams that will work thur the 8.4 but have not used them. lockpic is one of them. check out the differenet forum topic for info. if you find something and do it please post if you are happy with it. -
i removed the 2nd row head rest and have the 3rd row seats folded down and does give a better view behind the journey. as my came with the 8.4 screen but no rear cam installed from the factory. last time at the dealer i was looking at the new journeys and all the ones with the 8.4 did not have the rear cam. cant figure out why the dealer would order them this way since you cant add it later from the dealer.... oh well....

yrs ago my 89 dodge truck got hit head on in our small town and i had it towed to the best repair shop in town and they fixed it and called and said it was ready, so i went up and took it for a test drive and the speedo needle was jumping at all speeds and the air conditioning didnt work so went back inside and told him what was going on and he said well did they work before the acc. and i said hell yes they did, so he said he would fix everything and when i picked it up again i still took it for an other test drive before i signed the paper work ALWAYS check out the repaires brfore signing any paper work...

sorry to hear about your problems and to be fair ive had to have my rotors fixed twice under warrenty way to soon to have happened but other than that i love my journey. guess you should have bought the Subaru, that you wanted but didnt want to pay more money for. i have owened dodges all my life along with a 2 GM and 1 ford, and they all had some problems with them at one time or another. and this is the first dodge that ive had problems with the rotors warping and when they need to be done again ill do them myself. i guess dodge while trying to offer a good price on their cars went to cheap with the smaller rotors than they should have or too cheap of a parts vender. oh well hope you have great luck with your next car...

hard to take anyone serious that cant spell or type any better than he did on his very FIRST post... LOL P.S. i love my journey

looks great and not a bad price. wondering why dealers dont order the rear cam when they order the 8.4 screen radio mine was the same way and after it gets to the dealer you cant add the rear cam. doesnt make any sense. any way great looking journey, congrats

Buying: AWD -vs-FWD
2late4u replied to soontobejourneyowner's topic in Buying, Leasing, Ordering & Competing Products
have never had awd only frt wheel drive or rear wheel drive grew up in mich. and now live in al, i love fwd and have never had any problems with it and have seen many 4 wheel drives stuck in snow and ice because that doesnt mean you cant lose control with awd.Drive with care and fwd is all you need with out the added cost of awd and better mileage also. but if you feel safer with it go for it. -
i love my v6,but if you do alot of city stop and go you might want the 4 cyl. the v6 will get you with all city driveing between 17-20 and will get better once you get out on the interstates because of the transmission. i always had the 3.3 in my minn-vans and my daughter bought one with the 4cyl. and it really did just as good as the 6 cyl did, but with alot of better gas mileage. good luck and keep us posted which way you went and how you like it

ask your dealer

i went to a custom acc. dealer that had a unit for rear cam and he wanted $700. to install a rear cam unit in my 2011 and he offered 2 different cameras one like you used which he said was like a mercedie quality and he also offered a lic. plate frame with the camera built in at the top that was able to be adjusted alittle by using a allen wrench up and down... never did have him install it thought it was too much as i had priced the lock pic and it was about $325 new with a camera wife doesnt want me to tear the car apart..lol doesnt trust me oh well....................... p.s. i mentioned to the dealer if he used the lock pic brand and he said NO he used audio vox and that the lock pic wasnt of good quality. dont know but thats what he said.

chrysler control number & rebates/discounts???
2late4u replied to soontobejourneyowner's topic in Lounge
the discount is off the sticker price and then you get the rebates knocked off. but to be honest you can get a better deal by doing your own haggling then the friends discount.i worked for chry. and one time i went to a dealer in a different town and told them i was looking for a truck with the options i wanted and i had already priced it at my reg dealer and i knew what the price was on the same truck. well they showed me a truck with all the same options and would throw in a bed liner for a better price that i could have bought using my employee discount, only problem i didnt like the color of that truck..lol so just do some price checking and when you get ready let them know your ready to buy that day but the they only one chance to sell you one or you walk away. good luck -
i can see your complaint on the brake job price but you did go back to the dealership so you KNEW the price was going to be expensive. BUT you got 60k on your tires and seem to think that was out of line also tires would have been cheaper at a tire store instead of the dealership. ive got 49k on my 17 inch kumos and still got alot of tread left but will replace them before winter because they will be getting low on tread and i dont wont to push to get more miles out of them i would rather have new tires going into the winter time. but 60 k on most tires is a great value....

modified did you hook up a rear camera? -
ive had many dodge caravans the last 10-15 years and never had any rotor problems like the journeys are having and i checked the curb weight on a 2004 (3838 lbs) vs a 2011 frt wheel drive mainstreet (3793 lbs) and had a extra rotor laying around from my 2007 dodge van that my daughter still drives on her mail route and she wears out a set of wagner thermoquiet pads every 6-8 months due to the stop and go and she hasnt had no warped roters going on 2 yrs as of now. any way i compared that rotor to the ones on my mainstreet and they look the same size. so i dont belive that every one saying that the warping of the rotors are due to the weight of the journeys.dont know what the problems that keep causing the warping but the next time i will replace them myself. the dodge dealer turned mine at 10 k and then replaced them again at 28k both rotors and pads as a one time goodwill service. as of know i have about 49k on the journey and no shuddering or pulsation but started getting a noise when applying the brakes during a really hard rain while driving it and then it went away. keeping my fingers crossed for good luck..

well my bad, i had read it somewhere in the chrysler litature but couldnt find it so i called my sales friend in cullman al. and he said only if you have bought the extended warranty that they had to provide a rental car if it was going to be over a 24 hr repair. but he pointed out to that they gave me a rental and all their other purchasers a rental because they want happy campers and returning car buyers to return to them when buying an other car. and they do take great care of you at their location in cullman al. i have bought many cars from them so i guess loyalty does pay off sometimes.... check with your dealership before you take it in if you think its going to take more than 1 day to fix it and hopefully they will take care of you if not try cullman dodge next time and ask for scotty in sales he will treat you right with no b. s. like some dealers try to pull over on you
