  1. well i would assume changing the thermostat and flushing the system and using new coolant would be easier and cheaper than the heater core replacement but being a 2009 probally needs it all done
  2. proper coolant Temp is 197-203 degrees in the info system also eng coolant needle on the dash gage should be straight up and down in the middle between cold and hot
  3. just replaced my thermostat in my 2014 3.6 so easy to get to i have 122 k pn mine cost was less than $20,for the complete unit and just 2 bolts to undo and the use the bleed screw to get the air out
  4. the mast just screws in from the top side ,guess you tried to replace the whole thing. dont know why the journey wont start as there is no power going to the antenna, hopefully someone will post some help..how old is the battery in your journey?
  5. try disconnecting the negative battery cable at the top side post for a few minutes then reconnect, kind of like rebooting your computer,,,hope it helps
  6. as john said make sure you get the correct mopar antifreeze fluid as they will tell you at the part stores that what they sell is compatible with mopar and the bottles will say that it is compatible with all antifreeze no matter what color you have vs their green stuff,,,,,,, i am not a mechanic and cant say if thats true of=r not but why take a chance to save a few bucks
  7. mine finally quit working so i took it to the dealership since i have warranty and they had to replace the rear camera in the hatch

  9. dont waste your $$ and time topping it off unless the overflow tank is empty and in that case it probably means you have a leak somewhere, when you are driving down the road is the engine temp needle showing straight up and down in the middle between C and H,also go to the digital info gages and check your eng temp there it should read 199-203 changing out the thermostat is so easy on the 3.6 watch a few youtube videos...part is less than $20 in the U.S. 2 little bolts ( 10 mm and the bottom bolt is kind of hard to get to under the housing if you have big hands, use a open end wrench) and a gallon on antifreeze and about 25 minutes if you are slow and then BLEED the system takes about 10 minutes watching the journey heat up while running and oping the bleed screw every so often
  10. i have a rack on the back to carry the wifes 3 wheel scooter, and yes when i am not using it it folds up so it does block the cam quite a bit but you can still see around it and with it down you can still see pretty good using the back up cam, havent even desired to try to relocate it but it can be done but you would need to buy a new camera that you could mount higher up but that will entail doing quite a bit of work, probally be cheaper and easier to have another aftermarket back cam installed so it would be functional and also get the shop to guarantee its work as well...all this said i am pushing the max weight limit with just the wifes 3 wheel scooter if he has a good size electric chair he will be over the tongue weight by a good bit, also i have had some problems with the upper rear control arms/ trialing links as the are non-adj and was wearing my tires on the inside edge i went with some aftermarket ones that are adj so i can keep the alignment okay not sure if the extra weight is causing my problems but just thought id mention it
  11. actual part cost is less than $5. Orileys part store,,,, not sure how hard to replace on our journeys ,any one having a problem might want to try this first
  12. hmm kind of weird. my 2014 washer squirters work great with any kind or color fluid ive used but the pink rain x the most as wally mart always usually runs it on clearance after the winter time is over so i always buy it lots of it cheap
  13. poster never came back to report what fixed his problem so we dont know,,,blogs like this can help a lot of people but ONLY if after the problem gets fixed they report back.....i would replace the speed sensor that it is telling you to.. usually if its a speed sensor you get both the abs and tc light on ...good luck

    Heat

if the water pump was going bad it would be OVERHEATING not showing 1/4 temp you need to find a QUALIFIED repair garage, sounds like this one doesn't have a clue on what they are doing except throwing parts at the wall

    Heat

sounds like your problem started after the heater core replacement and new stat...wonder if he used the right thermostat as it sounds like it is stuck open and not letting the engine to warm up

    Heat

as mentioned make sure there is no air in system, very important.....also does your journey have a temp gauge that tells you what temp you are at,,,what i am saying my journey has the dial temp gauge and it goes exactly 1/2 way between cold and hot and also a separate display in the menu that tells me the car is at 199 degrees or 203 degrees or whatever the eng temp is,,sorry not familiar with the early models,,, IMPORTANT what was the problem before the thermostat change did you have heat then????

so who did the work you give us no background on your journey? engine size and miles? are you doing the work yourself and what is your work capacity. is the journey driving okay,is it running cold ?what is the temp gage showing my 2014 3.6 121 k i just had to replace the thermostat due to the engine check light came on running to cold.
  18. decided to pull the overflow tank just to clean it out, just 2 bolts and remove the clamp on the inlet top side, and i removed the ckamp on the hose where it attaches to the aluminum pipe towards the front middle of the fan and motor made it real easy to remove it...LOL the tank after draining it look real clean guess it was the dark MOPAR antifreeze that made it look dirty...LOL oh well its done now but had to rebleed the system but that is a snap with the bleeder screw,,just be careful with the tank it is around $80-90 replacement thermostat must have been going bad For a while as man the heat sure seems a lot hotter now
  19. well i did the 3 cold to hot starts and eng light was still on,some say on youtube it has to be turned off with a scanner,so off to oreillys and asked the same kid to turn it off, he was kind of hesitant but finally did after he saying look i buy all my parts here, then i took it for another long drive no lights and everything acting normal, we were going off on a trip next monday so it was weighing on my mind wanted to get it done...LOL
  20. might try disconnect the bluetooth fuse some have reported that ended up being their problem

  22. well the old check engine light came on coming home from a lunch out,,got to checking all my temps and gages and the eng temp running around 170-175 so stopped at a parts store they checked and said either thermostat or temp sensor,so the journey normally runs around 195-198 so i picked up a new thermostat and gal of antifreeze, got home and thought this will be a breeze since its a 3.6 but damn that bottom bolt is hard to get to and they made them so long, ( at least thats what she said) took a while longer than i originally thought but finally got it changed out and really didnt lose that much fluid, added a bit of fluid and started up the journey with the heat on and opened the bleed screw a few times and then cleaned up everything and took it for a drive, didnt take long and the gauge was reading 199- 206 and was blowing good heat out the vents took it on a long drive stopped a few times to see if any ,more air in the system but nope all good the eng light is still on and stopped by parts store and they said it will go off if everything is okay after 3 cold-hot start and stops, i knew they could turn it off with their scanner but they didnt seem to want to ,,,,,pretty sure this will fix it hope its not the coolant sensor but this was the easiest fix so started here but dam that coolant cost more than the thermostat 19.99 for the stat and 20 something for the correct fluid
  23. tapping on the actuator and or unplugging it and then replugging it has been mentioned on fixing them for a while
  24. actually just last week on my 2014 i removed the plastic covers under the hood and in front of the windshield to remove and clean the leaves that had collected there,it looked worse than it was actually, man what a bunch of different kinds of push pins they used in such a small area (4 or 5 different kinds) good thing i had bought a assortment of pushpins of amazon for such cases for replacement..........as far as the cabin filter i bought a washable K-N filter so i always clean it every 6 months it has paid for itself many times over
  25. since you just replaced the alt i assume you disconnected the battery cable and then this new problem started up i would remove the positive battery cable at the top post and let it set for a while and then reconnect ,kind of like rebooting your computer and hopefully might rest or fix the problem....good luck
