2late4u replied to Bignosedog's topic in Electrical, Battery & Charging
the Walmart's here in AL wont install a battery for a dodge Journey as i checked yrs ago.because of the location same with Auto Zone or any of the other part stores they will sell you one but wont do the free install... LOL -
dam clean that engine,if you ever get it running right again
-
most of the better key shops have the fobs, not sure on how much cheaper than the dealership, also ask on face book as well LOL i know that sounds crazy but we have a lot of small places that do keys and fob's that you wouldn't know that they would have that kind of stuff good luck and report back on what you find out for others in your spot.........P.S. might want to upgrade to remote start thur mopar and still pricey but you would get new fobs with the upgrade

rotors are warped more likely since it is the smaller ones, yes replace the battery, and also have Simone check the output on your alt, and yes the clicking is the blend doors trying to reset or adj the doors and or the plastic gears on the actuator are stripped or broken

none off the self for a journey, some have said they custom made one, try googling on you tube for ideas and also take your time and look thru the forum here in the correct section for ideas ,,,good luck P S technically you already have a cold air intake since the air enters thur the grill and not from around the hot engine

I came up with a warning once to check my gas cap, ( it actually said to check the gas cap) i just took it off and then re tightened it never another problem with it, seems like i read to rub a bit of Vaseline on the seal on the cap sometimes help.might just want to check the vacuum lines in the eng compartment as well for a tight fit at the ends

2012 Dodge Journey SE - Total shut down while driving
2late4u replied to eneusiis's topic in Electrical, Battery & Charging
had an old (89) dodge truck that started with problems like you described and i replaced the starter thinking it was the ,solenoid but it didnt help sometimes it would start and others it wouldn't so i took it into the dealership and they said yes its the starter i told them hey thats a new one but they said no its the starter is bad so i let them install theirs and i also got mine back and got a refund at the part store, got my truck back worked great for a day or so then wouldn't start, they towed it back in and kept it for almost a week so they could try starting it during the had it but it would started every time so they called me to come get it and when i went to start it nothing so i hollered at the mechanic and service manger they looked at it and then a different mech walked by and seen them scratching their heads and talking he reached in and started messing with a small black box like module and said this is what is bad, they went and got another one hooked it up and it started and they said well that part cost me about $8. of course the starter and other stuff run me about $200, and never had any more trouble with it not starting,,, just a simple small part making a bad connection or starting to go bad -
well glad its working BUT i have a hard time believing that just the vent door adjustment would make a difference in the temperature for drivers and passenger side, as we leave our vents in the wide open selection, I also have my drivers vent aimed at the drivers window , and the passenger aimed at the passenger window as well, it helps keep it defogged when we first crank up in cold weather,, but hope it stays working for you

I doubt it, just reset your message ( oil reset message) its in the manual on how to do it and see if the cel goes off but i dont think they are related to each other, if the cel light is on have some one check it with their scan tool, most auto store use to do that before the covid

might be the throttle body is dirty as well
-
so about 90739 miles they should be changed at 100 k,
-
guess it needs more than a starter, would guess the starter was a by product of what first went wrong...good luck

welcome to the group, how many miles? have the plugs been changed?
-
tale it back and have the coolant system bleed it of air again

Shortcuts to Clean Battery Terminals?
2late4u replied to Bignosedog's topic in Electrical, Battery & Charging
over the yr with my 2011 and now my 2014 journey i replaced all the battery's that i had to except this last time, the shop said they would install it for $10. i said okay, like I really didnt care all the while thinking quick jump on this before he changes his mind....,LOL guess i am getting old.....BUT i did stand there and watched him to make sure there wasn't any problems or mishaps -
not a solution to your journeys problems BUT if it is getting worse before it takes a dump on you ,its time to trade it off for a newer journey or other brand doesn't have to be brand new but since the journeys are in their last yr some great deals as well with the covid going on and yes used car dealers will make a big profit off you but you can dump off your journey without feeling guilty as well, wish i could offer a better solution but sometimes you just have to cut your losses and start over....good luck on whatever you decided

dont forget that black box at the top of your windshield behind the mirror as it has something to do with moisture as well
-
should have drove it to the dealership while it was still doing what you described and let them drive it then they would be able to have worked on it, i know it was inconvenient but that is how it works. or might take it to a regular transmission shop as they are now able to work on them as well since you know the code # ...hope you get it fixed and please report back on what you find out for others that might have this happen to them
-
underneath the cabin filter just put your legs at the ceiling and your head on the floor by the firewall its a small black box that turns the shaft that the door is on, also check out you tube videos on dodge journey blend doors inop. there are 3 of them
-
welcome to the group,i dont believe the journeys are compatible with car play, others will chime in on that. the color looks great
-
he said he replaced the brakes 5 months ago and then a few days ago they started making the grinding noise ( After I did the brakes,, noise just started 3 days ago,, I'm going to check the brakes tomorrow) i would assume he had gotton a rock or something caught between the rotor and the pad to cause the noise after 4 3/4 months of normal braking without sound, who knows...LOL

Shortcuts to Clean Battery Terminals?
2late4u replied to Bignosedog's topic in Electrical, Battery & Charging
you dont say om how old the battery is but going into really cold winter your best bet is to replace it when you remove and clean the terminals on the old one..also i use a spray battery terminal protectant after reinstalling the cables it covers the terminal connectors with a red spray ,,,works really great, also dont worry about using a battery tender when changing the battery, and yes just remove the wheel and remove the plastic inner fender to have easy access to the battery still tight but is really the only way,and as said before after getting the battery changed or cleaned have some one check your alt as well////////////P.S have some baking soda and water and a small brush to put on the cable ends and where ever you have corrosion to neutralize it as well CRC 05046 Battery Terminal Protector - 7.5 Wt Oz. Brand: CRC 4.7 out of 5 stars 780 ratings | 23 answered questions Price: $10.19 -
i am confused when you say inners went outside and outers went inside,,,but glad you seemed to have fixed your problem
