Shortcuts to Clean Battery Terminals?
2late4u replied to Bignosedog's topic in Electrical, Battery & Charging
over the yr with my 2011 and now my 2014 journey i replaced all the battery's that i had to except this last time, the shop said they would install it for $10. i said okay, like I really didnt care all the while thinking quick jump on this before he changes his mind....,LOL guess i am getting old.....BUT i did stand there and watched him to make sure there wasn't any problems or mishaps -
not a solution to your journeys problems BUT if it is getting worse before it takes a dump on you ,its time to trade it off for a newer journey or other brand doesn't have to be brand new but since the journeys are in their last yr some great deals as well with the covid going on and yes used car dealers will make a big profit off you but you can dump off your journey without feeling guilty as well, wish i could offer a better solution but sometimes you just have to cut your losses and start over....good luck on whatever you decided

dont forget that black box at the top of your windshield behind the mirror as it has something to do with moisture as well
-
should have drove it to the dealership while it was still doing what you described and let them drive it then they would be able to have worked on it, i know it was inconvenient but that is how it works. or might take it to a regular transmission shop as they are now able to work on them as well since you know the code # ...hope you get it fixed and please report back on what you find out for others that might have this happen to them

underneath the cabin filter just put your legs at the ceiling and your head on the floor by the firewall its a small black box that turns the shaft that the door is on, also check out you tube videos on dodge journey blend doors inop. there are 3 of them

welcome to the group,i dont believe the journeys are compatible with car play, others will chime in on that. the color looks great

he said he replaced the brakes 5 months ago and then a few days ago they started making the grinding noise ( After I did the brakes,, noise just started 3 days ago,, I'm going to check the brakes tomorrow) i would assume he had gotton a rock or something caught between the rotor and the pad to cause the noise after 4 3/4 months of normal braking without sound, who knows...LOL

Shortcuts to Clean Battery Terminals?
2late4u replied to Bignosedog's topic in Electrical, Battery & Charging
you dont say om how old the battery is but going into really cold winter your best bet is to replace it when you remove and clean the terminals on the old one..also i use a spray battery terminal protectant after reinstalling the cables it covers the terminal connectors with a red spray ,,,works really great, also dont worry about using a battery tender when changing the battery, and yes just remove the wheel and remove the plastic inner fender to have easy access to the battery still tight but is really the only way,and as said before after getting the battery changed or cleaned have some one check your alt as well////////////P.S have some baking soda and water and a small brush to put on the cable ends and where ever you have corrosion to neutralize it as well CRC 05046 Battery Terminal Protector - 7.5 Wt Oz. Brand: CRC 4.7 out of 5 stars 780 ratings | 23 answered questions Price: $10.19 -
i am confused when you say inners went outside and outers went inside,,,but glad you seemed to have fixed your problem
-
might have caught a rock or something between the frt pads that has caused some damage, could be a frt wheel bearing as well ..so you hear at low speeds as well as cruising speeds?check your alt, and belt tensioner bearings as well
-
grinding noise usually are brakes, if you done the frt 5 months ago and just now hearing the noise shouldn't be that sound travels sometimes check your rears as well, since no mention on the miles... My daughters jeep wrangler rear brake pads wore out before the front ones at 30 k, and fronts went bad around 60 k, also their was no sign of the brakes dragging or wearing funny just one of thoes things i guess,,,could be a bearing going bad but that is more of a whine than grinding...please report back on what you find out for others

you must be mechanically challenged if it takes you 2 hrs to do the battery

Catastrophic failure - 2013 SE, 2.4L?
2late4u replied to fishinfart's topic in Engine & Transmission
well we can blame the car manufacturer who have their engineers looking for the lightest and cheapest way to build a car, because as most of us always look to buy the cheapest and best looking car as well. DONT get me wrong i am not condoning this use of plastic as we all dont want it to happen to us,to be honest as we look at new models and whoo and wow at all the fancy new electronics and we dont think hmm what is going to go wrong with all this stuff in a couple of yrs like the journey with its common electrical gremlins and navigation problems and such, and lets not forget the battery location. -
i have NO idea as i bought mine THAT were made for a journey and i believe all journeys have 2 hooks,my 2011 had 2 hooks as well, if they say it comes with only one hole then something is wrong either they are wrong about the number of holes in the mat or its NOT for a journey... of course all you have to do is cut the hook off the floor if you think the mat is the right one,,, use a DREMEL or grinder cutoff wheel if these are really for a journey they will fit tight to the floor you wont have to worry about them moving around as they are a PERFECT fit at least mine are also if you want carpet liners they are called classic series and all others are a rubber liner,,,good luck
-
take it back to the shop that did the work, might have to threaten legal action if they dont want to make it right but they made the error like John said that had to come off to fix the trans seal leak on that axle... document with pictures and your repair paperwork that they did
-
LOL didnt really want to ask if he installed it and reversed the polarity but was wanting to say that, that is about all i can think that would have caused any damage to the journey...also i have seen a car jump start okay with a battery temperature sensor that is bad but then as soon as they put it in gear it would stop

- wipers running
- car wont start
- (and 3 more)

if with in the 3 yr/36 k yes it would be covered

the link you provided is showing carpet mats but is describing rubber mats , also says they do not fit a journey even tho the mats say for a journey something is wrong with this link.....
-
that is a great price for a complete set as i paid more for just the fronts but they are great mats you wont regret getting them , and yes if they only have one hole you will have to do something but as i said they fit so perfect you dont need any hooks to hold them in
