  1. most journeys are only covered 5 yr or 60 k from the factory ....The 60,000-mile powertrain limited warranty is more standard in its offerings, covering most of the engine and transmission components for five years. Specifically, you will get coverage for engine parts (internal parts, oil and water pumps, etc.), transmission parts (case, torque converter, sensors, etc.), and the drive system (front, rear, or all-wheel drive). As NavalLacrosse has mentioned i wouldn't get the 4 cly if i was you i have bought 2 journeys and have gotton the 3.6 eng as well had 70 k on my 2011 when i traded in on my 2014 with 106 k on it , no transmission problems on either as well, have had some small problems with both but nothing serious, i really love the journey and hate to see they are doing away with it after this yr, it took the place of the low budget caravan that they got rid of and dont know what young people are going to buy from dodge that has this much room in a vehicle...make sure you find one with the option you want as adding them can get expensive and difficult as well, like the 8.4 screen vs the 4 inch one, or regular radio vs the navigation on as well. good luck
  2. that is one reason i dont like to buy parts thur the mail,, i live in Alabama and i use advance auto part stores and buy thur retailmenot.com . I buy it on line and then drive down to the store right away and pick it up (if in stock of course) and using the retailmenot.com I always gets a great discount usually $ 20-50 off depending on the cost of the parts, it works with other car part stores but not as good of a discount
  3. so true, and like you we hardly listen to the radio unless on long trips,,,,actually the antenna is still working great just you can see the wires and such where the rubber is cracked all around it, thinking i might walk over to harbor freight and get some black shrink tubing and try that and see if it will work on hiding the cranks in the outer rubber coating or maybe some plastic rubber dip?
  4. i read somewhere someone tried one of the fins but it didnt work right, also i seen on amazon about a similer antenna like ours only its about 3 1/2 inch long it got great reviews for it looking better and for being so short ,but there was quite a few saying it didnt pick up as good as the longer oem regular antenna did, actually i can buy the oem one cheaper than i can the ones off amazon, i am sure someone has mod their journey with the fin but think ill stay with the oem...
  5. you didnt mention miles but might want to add a coolant flush and new coolant as well, then you will be up to date
  6. well was having my alignment checked last week and the guy was backing up with my journey and i heard someone holler hey stop to the guy i didnt pay any attention as i was close by and knew he hadnt hit any thing, but i didnt notice he must have hit the antenna on the roll up door that was half way closed, as when i was detailing the journey i noticed the antenna rubber shaft is cracked open and you can see the wire inside it,( there is a copper wire that wraps around the antenna shaft that goes all the way to the top of it)oh well it is about 6 yrs old and i was keeping an eye on it as it had gotten hard and was getting hairline cracks in the rubber , so guess ill mosey on down to the dealership they have them in stock and cost is $ 21, plus tax.. ill get a 25 % discount for being a Chrysler retiree so that will make it cheaper than buying off amazon
  7. good old Michigan rust , glad i moved south 50 yrs ago,,,LOL grew up in Clarkston,Mi near pine knob ski resort
  8. in the one picture with the bolt showing, at the top right side looks like the metal brace has a crack in it
  9. Lower Control Arm Bolt for Cam Eccentrics Adjustment the lower control arm is adjustable,i believe thoes are the cam bolt and washers
  10. if you are getting a great price ,might as well replace all 4 at once and get it over with
  11. every time iv had my tires rotated the relearn takes just a few minutes or less and just thirty or forty feet to reset, yes if the problem moved with the tire then i would say its the sensor as well
  12. have done almost a hundred brake jobs for my daughters mail van and jeeps and have never used a torque wrench on thoes bolts and never had a problem just get them tight and then a bit more, if one came out then he never even got it tight to begin with probably had it finger tight
  13. when you go to remove and replace the module video and upload to you tube for others to see and learn
  14. have been following your journey on your journey,,( sorry couldn't help myself) just where is this part on the 2.4 . tried googling it but didnt see a location on it...Thanks
  15. looks like he is a 1 post wonder, shame they dont come back with what was wrong so others would know....
  16. i actually had to have my upper control arm/ trailing link to be replaced with after market kind they cost any where from 50-100 for each one but they are adjustable unlike the OEM ones are not, just a solid arm link... check amazon if you are interested in them. my 2014 seems to have a problem staying in alignment so that is why i went with the adj. kind
  17. how do you know the battery is good??, journeys like a full charge to start, have a load check done on the battery to assure you have a good battery as just checking with a meter is not enough and yes you can have enough power for lights and radios and such and your journey wont start .....as it just happened to me a few months ago and my neighbor had a jump box for jump starting and even it wouldn't crank mine, called a tow truck and he did a battery load check and yes it was bad ,new battery and NO more problems...good luck and i hope it is just the battery that is bad for you....
  18. first off welcome to the group, your manual will tell you the exact fluid to use but almost all power steering fluid is the same you can buy name brand like Preston and on the can it will say okay to use in dodge vech, or you can buy ANY the transmission fluid +4 as well, your second question since we cannot see your journey is that you DO have a leak somewhere in your system as this fluid does not evaporate, also not sure of what hydraulic power steering fluid you used, if it was right or wrong (The term “hydraulic fluid” is a general term that would refer to any fluid used in a hydraulic system. There are many different hydraulic fluids. Depending on the use, they can be mineral, synthetic, or even water based. ... However power steering fluid *IS* a hydraulic fluid) And as far as the dealership topping off your P.S. fluid that would be a concern you can bring up with the service manger and they will probally say they didnt see it low...BUT you do have a leak if your power steering unit was empty..good luck on what you find and please report back on what you find..... PS my daughter yrs ago had a power steering rack that was going bad and the seal was leaking at the ends of the rack near the drivers side but wasn't leaking as the rubber boot on the end contained it till it blew then is was easy to find
  19. so i have been seeing a lot of newer vehicles with burned out brake lights, and when you tell them they mostly say oh okay or ya i know,,,then it hit me with the new led taillight assy you just cant change a bulb anymore, it becomes a dealer oem part replacement meaning huge bucks,,,,guess sometimes new improvements doesn't always mean new and better,,,,new taillight assy $$$ VS a $1.00 light bulb...oh well
  20. most deferentially, when you take the old one off( the lower one can be adj ,,,,but the upper has no adj ability)dont move the adj on it so you can match the new one up so it will be close to the org alignment,,, but you will still need to have one done...by the way welcome to the group
  21. upper and lower control arms, not hard at all ,but from the looks of the rust, impact gun might be helpful, plenty of you tube videos as well on these replacement, will need a 4 wheel alignment afterwards as well.make sure you use some jack stands as well....good luck
  22. sounds good but dont forget to do a rad/coolant flush and coolant change as well...welcome to the group, which eng did you get i am assuming the 3.6?
