at first i was going to say maybe a bad sensor, but when you said it started to sputter it could be more serious as trans problems that said you didnt say which engine you have i its the 2.4 have you replaced the plugs? at 57 k you would be over the rec 30 k interval to replace them, if you have the 3.6 then the plugs should be good till 100 k not sure what you meant in your last sentence so is the problem solved or still having a problem and also maybe when they worked on the journey they messed something up with the trans sensor,,,hard to tell from here.good luck and i am sure someone will chime in on this problem you are having

also welcome to the group, and just a warning your battery will probably need changing soon ( if it is the oem) and every one will tell you journeys dont like a weak battery, might want to watch out for a good sale on one and watch a few you tube battery replacement vidios and do it on a good day instead of waiting for it to go out on you at a bad time or bad weather

glad you got it fixed and it was a simple thing like a clogged drain outlet
-
thats what i was going to say as well

Was just working on my step sons dodge truck and i seen it was wet on the passenger side carpet real bad, he said it had just started doing that this last week.pulled the carpet back and seen it was leaking around a plastic part that had no holes or screws, so i cranked up my air compressor and crawled under the truck and then seen the drip tube coming out of the firewall for the ac water to drain and nothing was coming out so i shot some air into the drip tube and then it started draining so we dried off the inside of the cab with towels the best we could and also dried off the rubber sound padding under the plastic part where i seen the water dripping from and no more drip, ran the air for about 10 minutes and it continued to drain out thur the drain tube,so hope we got it fixed, havent heard back from him since we fixed it........by the way what we were org doing was putting a dash skin cover over his broken plastic dash and also the instrument panel as well, looked really good after we did it and and unless you are looking really hard to see what we did you wouldn't even see it....good way to fix your broken or damaged dash they fit just perfect and the color was spot on as well got it off amazon was about $212 for both parts

my daughter had a caravan that acted like that and she thought it was the trans and i changed the plugs and actually one of the plugs was loose and that fixed her problem.......that said i also had a boat that acted like that,if i took off slow it ran fine ,idled fine but if tried to take off fast it would die out, of course the boat shops were already booked up for at least 2 months before they could look at it, i tired everything, even pulled the fuel pump off and checked it pumping good off the engine ,put a fuel/water separator on it ,changed plugs and points and anything else i could think of and then my dad thought about following the gas line and it was there we found the anti-siphon valve was stuck in the half way open position enough gas to idle but not to run wide open under a load, so yes could be injectors as well but think its the plugs first
-
yep i would be upset as well since he said he just bought it,but that is one reason i dont like to buy used if i can avoid it. battery thur dealership probally around 150 at least ,plugs around 150 as well and trans service around 200, and have no idea on the cost of a fuel system cleaning, I did the plugs on my daughters 2.4 jeep was about $11 for the plugs and 20 minutes to install them they need to be changed out every 30 k and only use the OEM copper plugs, i would bet that is the problem
-
my 2011 with the 3.6 didnt have a dip stick as well...not sure if ther 2.4 with the different trans has one or not i think it does,,,,also with my 2014 i cleaned off my oil dip stick and inserted it into the trans service hole and marked it where the oil was showing with a grind mark also checked on you tube and measured it off and it was in the correct level... i remember when i was looking at my new 2011 and said where in the f is the trans dipstick... LOL car manufacturers are getting so cheap
-
well any of this might be the cause except the battery, good luck on this repair, you mentioned you had just bought it from them and they are wanting you to pay for fixing it? guess no warranty, . keep us informed if this solves your problem
-
need more info if it has the 2.4 could easily be the plugs they should be changed out at 30 k and only use the OEM plugs, but since you are taking it back let us know what they say
-
good looking journey and man that driveway looks fantastic and the yard work as well. very beautiful
-
water leaks are a bitch to trace down they usually are from a place you wouldn't think it could be from, since its all the way across the top back side i would say it has to be comiing in from the front and draining backwards, check your rails on top where it attaches to the roof unless you have a sun roof which i assume you dont have,,,good luck on fining your problem

ding, ding, ding, we got a winner.....
-
dealership would;d be able to give you some advise on it and also parts dept should be able to price it ( get OEM as you want to use a quality part) and show you on a schematic where it is located, also i was watching a you tube on changing the rear struts and they gave pretty good info on removing all the rear plastic coverings, good luck and report back on what happens
-
like every thing else at least you are getting good at taking it apart and putting it back together again and probally faster each time....
-
might want to check out eng and trans mounts as well,
-
usually a clicking noise when turning means a bad cv joint...does it pop when turning in both directions or just one,,,goggle you tube,it has video on how to check them,,,good luck

not sure about your water pump but all the old ones had what they called a weep hole in them
