2012 oil filter change and check valve issues
2late4u replied to probak118's topic in Engine & Transmission
correct they changed with the earlier model yr i have 2014 it has the new improved oil cooler ALSO be aware that they have 2 different oil filters due to this change so make sure you get the correct one -
first off do you have AWD if not then you skip the last two items as they cant be checked.spark plugs 100k if you have the 3.6 eng and have them do the trans service which is replacing the transmission filter and replace the transmission oil would recommend the dealership for both the plugs and trans service and and well replace the coolant fluid in your cooling system , Brakes on your journey are probally good to at least 100k i changed mine out at around 70 k and they were still half way good , but wouldn't hurt someone to check them out that you trust, change your engine air filter once a yr and as well the cabin air filter which you called the air condition filter i believe

love it when they come here bitching every one out and then never come back to report what fix they found, i would bet it was a battery problem no one ever wants to believe it when their lights and radio still works...LOL and as well he describe resetting the lights as mentioned in the car manual and i bet he was reading where it was to resets the oil light icon Warning

What battery should I buy and where?
2late4u replied to Chopper's topic in Electrical, Battery & Charging
i would recommend a 7 yr battery with a full 3 yr replacement, not many offering that anymore, expect to pay around 100-150 for a good battery plus more for install have no idea as i do my own which is not that hard but takes about .5 to 1 hr depending on your skills and tools. plenty of u tube videos on how to do it as well. stay away from stores like (Walmart and Pep Boys ) other such good place would be your local garage that you have trust in or recommends from your friends,or pay the premium price from your dealership that knows your car the best at least it would be a nation wide warranty as well -
can you not drive it till they get the head in? yea this does suck, make sure your journey is in line to get fixed, sorry to hear this....just last yr i sold my truck to my step son thinking we didnt really need a second vec as i am the only one that drives most of the time but when things like this happens you need that extra vec.

as above and also might be the rear brake pads low, yrs ago my daughters van brake light came on and it was the rear brake shoes were wore out,,,check the whole brake system and also have them check the parking brake cable to see if it has loosened up and or stuck,,,local brake shops would probally do most of this for free hoping they find the problem so they can charge you...good luck

possibly not a drain but bad connection

2012 oil filter change and check valve issues
2late4u replied to probak118's topic in Engine & Transmission
never had it happen on my 2011 sold it with 70 k on it, if this doesn't fix your problem ,you could change out the oil cooler with the newer cooler that has this check valve built in it, of course the cost would be a lot higher but would be a great upgrade if you decide to -
welcome to the group ,did you get the 4 cly or 6 cyl.?

not sure on the 2010, but one of the battery cables also has a battery temperature sensor built into it and that if not working will keep the journey from starting as well.might want to check into that as a possible problem...good luck amazon this is what it looks like if you have one Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram Battery Temperature Sensor Mopar OEM -
time for the dealership to me

a friend of mine was having problem with no heat on her charger they thought it was the heater core and other things ,ran up a big bill replacing stuff instead of checking things out and the repair place said it ended up being the engine oil cooler causing the problem...now to me that doesn't make sense but she couldn't make me understand how that would make your heater feel cold , as they were only worried about it getting fixed than they were to understand why it quit heating......just thought id put this out there...
-
just other than reading about it, hope they get you fixed soon at least you are covered under the warranty

As Armando has said go to the dealership, i did when having problems with the second row seat headrest i wanted to remove, the service manager went out side and said push Both buttons in hard then just jerk them off which he did ,have then sitting in my closet as of right now along with my back cover shade that i dont use
-
Thanks for responding on how to fix it, was pretty sure removing the seat would be involved as well....

sounds like the dealership was on the right track, sure it wasn't cheap but they got it going might want to let them finish it,other wise sounds like you might just be throwing parts at it,have to say think you got in over your head or wallet for a cheap price on a vehicle, have no idea how much you paid for it at the auction, maybe a couple $$$ might get you even since it is a 2017
-
as stated above make sure your maintenance has been done, that said dodge recommends the trans service be done at around 100 k but i had mine done at around 70 k if i remember right( only makes since the trans is a hot demanding job to go that long) and just had my plugs and coolant changed at 94 k. you might want to have the trans service done real soon since you are getting to the end of you power train service warranty just in case something goes wrong after the service or they find something, good luck and enjoy your journey...ps what size eng did you get?

had a friend who when he went on trips he would always rent a car for the trip no matter what so finally i asked him what are you saving your car for,he said he wanted it to last longer and not have many miles on it and about 6 months later he got T-boned in a 4 car pileup he was fine but the car was totaled out and they low balled him on the payout due to the age to the age of his car.he fought it for a long time and never did get any more $$ boy was he pissed off
