  1. redtomatoman is correct. My iPhone has to "resync" with the 8.4n system every time I make any changes to the contents of the player. So, if I go in the house, plug into the computer, and add 1 song to the iPhone, then go back outside and put it in the Journey it will only play all songs in Alphabetical order with no playlists or other options until it completely resyncs. So, I have to listen to the A's for a while. Common issue man, don't think there's anything actually wrong with yours. BTW, you can return your Journey, but the only other CUV on the market that has anything close to the 8.4 system is Ford Sync.
  2. Check it out! My review is this week's feature at allpar.com http://www.allpar.com/reviews/2011/journey-lux.html
  3. Just so you know, a USB flash drive and an external hard drive both have different file catalog systems and that is likely why it doesn't work. A flash drive uses FAT32 format, whereas a hard drive will be using NTFS. This is the same reason why an external HD will not be recognized by a Playstation 3, but a flash drive will. There is nothing wrong with the Journey, and there is nothing you can do to make the system work with the external HD. I would suggest pick up yourself a large USB stick and just load up your music on there.
  4. I saw that in the commercials too and though, "hey, mine doesn't have that!" and there's nothing in the manual about it.
  5. And only $271.20 a tire... eeek!
  6. There is no LUX model in Canada. Here, the R/T = Lux, and what is sold as the R/T in the USA isn't available here.
  7. It's probably because remote start is an option on other trim levels.
  8. Yep, starts over every time. I'd just like to see Dodge fix the album track listing so that it plays albums in numeric track listing rather than alphabetical.
  9. Yeah, unfortunately only the Americans get this promo. Canadians get a hand shake and a wave.
  10. Interesting... I just did some research on both dodge.ca and dodge.com and it appears that all the 2011 models had the LED tail lamps, but for 2012, the CVP and AVP are a new base model that does not have them. Weird, but I guess they had to do something to differentiate the trim levels more. Also interesting to see an "American Value Package" model show up now that Reid Bigland is head of Dodge USA (formerly CEO of Chrysler Canada).
  11. ALL Journey models 2011 and up are equipped with LED tail lamps.
  12. One cool thing that I wish the Canadian maps had - speed limits. My 8.4n has a little sign pop up in the lower right hand corner showing the speed limit the moment I cross the border into the USA. Very cool.
  13. Keep in mind the Challenger has a different intake and exhaust system, not to mention a N/S mounted engine, different transmission, and is RWD.
  14. I really wish the system had the ability for us to change the nav voice. I know some of the other commercially available nav systems have downloadable content to that end. Just a "would be nice".
  15. I'm sorry to hear of your issues, however I don't understand some things about your story. You say you already had a poor impression of the company due to your experience with several Wranglers. You also appear to have disdain for the bailout money used to save the company (and thousands of American jobs). Now, if your impression was that poor, why then would you purchase a vehicle from a company that was in the middle of a pending bankruptcy and had been known for declining quality due to cost cutting by their foreign owners? Either you're very naive or you got a bargain on a clearout and bought one against your better judgement. I have seen the 2009/10 models and I would not have bought one of those. The 2011 improvements are substantial and I for one am very pleased with my Journey so far. Given that Dodge is selling around 4000 of these a month and only a handful of people have reported serious problems here tells me that the lemons are the exception and not the rule. There definitely were some serious issues with the first generation - and that doesn't surprise me given what the company was going through at the time and who owned them.
  16. There is a TSB out on this for a Rapid Response repair. It's code RT 11-066. The fix is to replace the amp. When I had mine in for an oil change the dealer just went and ordered the new amp. Took a couple weeks to come in and then I brought the car back and they swapped the part. I hadn't even had any problems - they just did it as a preventative measure since there is a TSB.
  17. I used to work in banking - we also sold insurance for certain products. 95% of insurance plans never pay out. It's ridiculously profitable and that's why so many retailers have jumped into the extended warranty business. I look at it this way. I've got 3 year bumper-to-bumper and 5 year powertrain included. So, really the extended warranty would be just to extend the bumper-to-bumper coverage to 5 years. Is $2000 worth of stuff going to go wrong with the vehicle - that's not in the powertrain - within that 2 years?
  18. Yeah, it's gotta be really dark to see the door map pocket lights. I find I only notice them while on the highway at night (where there's no street lights. No idea why a dimmer control was needed. I would have loved to have footwell lighting. It's pretty rare on vehicles these days. The only vehicle I've every owned with them was my 1980 Cougar.
  19. I think that's been the issue all along on the 2011's. "UConnect" used to be the name for the bluetooth option, now Chrysler decided to rename the entire system "UConnect" and make BT a separate option, but didn't tell the dealers. So they all ordered their 2011's with "UConnect" thinking that they were getting BT equipped cars.
  20. I think this is pretty preliminary as far as availability goes. I went to that same build and price and the colour options are extremely limited as well. One thing I noticed - the photo of the 2012 has the two red Dodge logo stripes on the grill...
  21. Yeah, I ran into this as well. Chrysler named the new touchscreen system "uConnect touch" and then changed the bluetooth add on to "Voice Command" but failed to inform any of the dealers. They all ordered their 2011 stock with "uConnect" thinking they were getting the bluetooth but they were wrong. Just about every Journey ordered from the first half of 2011 in Winnipeg does not have the Bluetooth because of this.
  22. Mine is holding now - so far so good. I know what you mean zmttoxics. The driver's side isn't 100% perfect, but much better than it was. The body shop told me the problem is that the clips holding it are all the way down below where the curve is, so that top part below the tail light is like a big tongue with no support behind it. It's really just held in there by the resistance of it being tucked under the tail light.
  23. Is there a reason you guys are putting higher octane or premium fuel in your Journey when the owner's manual specifically recommends regular 87 fuel? Also, I'm pretty sure that ALL gas in the USA and Canada has the 10% ethanol content as it is mandated by the feds. The biggest difference between regular and premium fuel is that premium has more detergent additives to clean your engine.
  24. My previous vehicle was outfitted with an ipod connector (the actual ipod plug) and yes, the iPod's internal EQ did affect the output sound. I actually sat there one day flipping through the iPod's EQ presets while it was plugged in to the vehicle and it was absolutely altering the output sound. It also does this while docked on an home iPod docking station. @ dodgeman324: Try popping a CD into the player and see if you get terrible distortion in the bass. That'll tell you right there if it's the speakers or the iPod. If the CD works, then try setting your iPod's EQ to flat and see if that solves the issue. Why not try it? It'll take about 30 seconds and cost you nothing. I'd do that before swapping subs, amps. speakers. etc...
  25. Interesting. By law, they are required to have that vehicle info sheet in the window until after purchase. Curious to know if you ended up trading yours.
