OK. I have begun to think my 2011 uconnect does not support texting at all but I need to get a phone that is compatible with the uconnect software to know for sure. I think I will get a samsung when my upgrade is available through verizon. Peace.
-
What phone? OS? Do you at least get a text notification through uconnect while driving? I thought the limited responses were designed to utilize while driving. Peace.

Get the extended warranty. There's too many proprietary electronic gizwidgets to fail. They work great until they don't. Then they're expensive. Peace.

Texting is a sore spot for me. I was told that texting would work when I bought my vehicle. Can we please have replies from those whose texting feature works? Phone and OS version. Please don't mention the Dodge website. I just want real world successes. I bought this vehicle for the Pentastar and the cargo space, not as a dock for my phone. While it does piss me off slightly, I don't dwell on the uconnect system inadequacies. Peace.

Mine is not heated. I don't believe that was not an option in 2011, but even if it was, my R/T is without that. Peace.

I put a cover over my leather wrapped R/T steering wheel. I really like it. Not only does it have some padding in places that make it more comfortable, but it also protects the stock leather wheel from my sweaty andoften dirty mitts. It matches the interior well also. Peace.

I recently upgraded my brakes to EBC with Greenstuff pads and I have brake dust. I'm trying Armour All Wheel Protectant. Don't know how if will work, but after searching the interwebs looking for something to mitigate the dust, Armour All Wheel Protectant seemed to be worth a try. . . Here's a few links to some "independent tests" I found on YouTube. Peace.

Had my new brakes installed today

So I've got about 500 miles on the EBC brakes post bedding. They are super smooth. No more light vibration when stopping. Hope that does not return. The brake dust from the greenstuff pads is definitely noticeable. More brake dust than the stock pads. Stopping power is significantly better than stock. Not mind bending, but better than stock. So. . . For those out there with the earlier brakes, I would definitely recommend the EBC dimpled and slotted rotors and greenstuff pads if you're looking to upgrade. I may try their ceramic pads in the future. Maybe less brake dust. Redstuff, I think. . . Peace. -
No Sound
redtomatoman replied to 20journey11's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
Not sure what the app is. Disconnect the neg terminal on the battery for 30 minutes to reset everything. See if that works. It could be that any recalls did not apply to your specific DJ. Not sure. There are people on this forum that are quite helpful. Give more info. Has the dealer given a diagnosis? What other symptoms are you having? Does any sound work? Peace. -
Nicely done. Ha!

A simple $1.28 Modification that is very helpful
redtomatoman replied to Billy Billy's topic in Accessories, Modifications
Cool idea. Only problem for me is that my third row has never seen the light of day and I have the dodge cargo mat over it all. I like the cargo mat, but it does make getting into that storage a little bit of a hassle. Peace. -
Has the 2016 redesign been pushed back?
redtomatoman replied to Rgwog's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
On yeah, I forgot to mention that Alfa already has a crossover in the works. Not sure how that figures into FCA calculations. Time will tell. I'm keeping my DJ as long as I can. Peace. -

redtomatoman replied to Rgwog's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
I hope this isn't the case, but it wouldn't surprise me too much if the DJ is dropped altogether in favor of a Chrysler crossover. Dodge is going for the muscle image, and many think the DJ doesn't have a muscle image. I disagree, but what do I know? IMHO, the DJ is bad ass and can out-muscle most other vehicles in the CUV category. Peace. -
My Kumhos were good. Got a little over 40K out of them. Could have gotten more, but replaced them just to be safe. Peace.

Well I followed the manufacturer's bedding recommendations, partially. . . I drove in the city (30-50 mph) with light brake pressure for 100 miles. But I skipped the 200 miles city with increasing pressure before bedding. I just went ahead and performed two cycles of bedding after the initial 100 miles. 60mph down to 10mph with hard braking pressure for 10 cycles. I did this on two consecutive days. Only 8 cycles on day 2 because the brakes were significantly fading. I guess I got them HOT. The rotors have definitely changed color; the rear more than the front. They are a blue grey color just like the recommendation sheet said they would be. So far they have felt good. Haven't driven the DJ since the most recent bedding. Probably take the DJ to Phoenix this weekend. Get a few hours of highway and significant city driving. Hopefully these pads and rotors will perform well and last me a good long time. I have other things to think about besides my brakes. Ha! I'll report on post-bedding brake performance soon. Peace. -

Just turned 50,000 miles. My brakes were still fine, I think. There was a small vibration in the steering wheel that came from the brakes when they got hot. Those rotors were just not enough for the DJ. I'm hoping these drilled and slotted things will be better. I don't know, really. I've heard EBC are good quality. Peace. -
New pads and rotors. EBC drilled slotted rotors with greenstuff pads. They feel good so far. The EBC bedding process is fairly involved. Can only bed the pads after 200 miles of city driving with light pressure. Bedding involves a series of decelerations from 60-10. Then cool and repeat. Never done this before on any other vehicles. I'm going to follow the EBC recommendations. I'll report back and review the brakes. Peace.

I do not carry lots of people. My third row has never seen the light of day. I carry lots of gear. Bike wheels, backpacks, other crap. . . One minor complaint I have is that I have the dodge cargo mat overlying the third row. Its flexible, but solid plastic. What the heck would I do with it if I did need to carry more people? That thing would be a pain to fold up. I've thought of that, but the need to carry more than 5 has never materialized. Hope it never does. Ha! Peace.

Thanks larryl. It is indeed secured with a screw. I hadn't realized that the plastic was a cover for the screw. I assumed it was a one piece part. I was able to pop open the plastic and tighten the screw. I feel a little silly that I didn't realize that from the beginning. Thanks again. Easy fix. Peace.
-
The one that broke is the passenger side nearest the rear hatch door. Aft of the wheel well. Didn't notice a screw. Is it below the plastic cover? I'll look again. I didn't look at the forward ones since they are not broken. Figured they were all the same. Peace.

One of my rear cargo hook loops has broken. Its totally loose, spinning around, and barely hanging on. I want to try to remove it and replace it with a new one. It doesn't seem to want to come out though. I don't want to do more damage trying to remove the thing. Anyone know how to remove it and somewhere to get a new one? (I am assuming the dealer can get me one but I also assume it will be exceedingly expensive) I carry a lot of gear and use gear nets attached to those metal loops. I don't want it to fail when I'm relying on it during my next trip. I'm hoping someone has access to the part blow up diagram, part number, and possibly some insight into how to remove it. Peace.

Third rows are over-rated. They are for those emergency situations that you need to haul more people. If you NEED a third row, a cuv should not be your first choice. Minivans are for hauling people. If you have 4 kids, get a minivan. Or full size van. Or a small schoolbus. The journey is what it is... A good vehicle with tons of utility and a little attitude. Peace.
-
Ahhh. Right. Now I get it. Peace.

Something is not right. If I understand correctly, you are not moving. If the engine is running and you're not moving, then you can't be at max efficiency. In fact, that's the worst possible scenario. Get it checked. Peace.
