How to clean MAP sensor on 3.6L (w/ pics)
redtomatoman replied to s4in7's topic in Maintenance & D.Y.I.
Ok. Dumb question. Is cleaning my MAP sensor something I should be doing? Without Google, I would have no idea what it is. Peace. -
Wow. Pretty amazing. Great job. I have no idea what goes into any of this, but I'm sure its a lot of work. I hope this will work for my DJ. You'll be a hero if this works for all or most DJs. Peace.

So I have had some time with the new uconnect unit. It seems to have solved all issues except the iPod skips. They are still present. *sigh* Can't say I didn't try. Haven't had any navigation freezes as of now. I did have some problems trying to reupdate my maps back to 2014. Garmin.com didn't recognize my new unit ID. Had to call Garmin. They gave me a code for the update, so that's done. Overall a success since many of my issues seem to be resolved. Peace.

true cost of journey?
redtomatoman replied to jjflores's topic in Buying, Leasing, Ordering & Competing Products
Financing costs more. Banks don't lend money for free. I try to never finance anything. Paid cash for my DJ. If I can't pay for something outright, I generally don't buy it. Of course, I did finance my house, but I'm paying that off 10 years early to save $$ in interest. Peace. -
Check you music cleanup. If the 2015 DJ has Gracenote, then Gracenote is the problem, I think. Is seems as if our uconnect system is defaulted to only use Gracenote images. No Gracenote image, no album art. Most other systems simply use the image that is associated with the song. If Gracenote recognizes a song, it will automatically show its database image as album art even if the song has no associated art or override associated art and show the Gracenote image if the song has associated art. Conversely, if a song has art associated with it, but Gracenote does not recognize the song, it will not show any art. The title information and such will still show, just no art. Gracenote is crazy. The "advantage" is that songs without art associated will have art, the disadvantage is that all art is limited by the Gracenote database, which Chrysler, evidently, has not allowed us to update. This is the best I can figure anyway. . . Peace.

Not sure, but I think Gracenote is to blame for the album art not displaying. If so, shame on Chrysler and their engineers for integrating that system into our vehicles and for not making Gracenote updates available for those who want it. Unclick Gracenote in uconnect and no art at all. Updates could be as easy as a 10 minute update to your uconnect at an oil change. Peace.

I feel like a whiner. I'm not. I have thought about using the SD card, but I use my iPod for bike rides and other activities so its always in the car. The other factor is I don't have a SD card reader. I may still load up a card, but like dhh3 states, not sure bow handy adding new music is. IPod/iTunes makes that quite easy. Anyway, not whining. . . no Nav freezes, so I'm happy about that. Peace.

Well, the new radio seems to function well. No Nav freezes, no blank screen, no issues so far, but the iPod skips are still present. I don't get it. Maybe the music skips are related to the iPod and not uconnect. If they are an iPod issue, I just don't know why no one else complains. Anyway, just another quirk of our system, I guess. Peace.

Interesting. . . Another stupid question. This will be a phone app to enable features like remote start and unlock features? Peace.

Maybe this is a stupid question, but will this work on vehicles without uconnect access? Or is this some sort of a substitute for uconnect access? Peace.

Please explain uconnect
redtomatoman replied to firststate's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
I can explain uconnect in one word. Quirky. Its good but has a few odd behaviors. Does the 2015 still have craptacular Gracenote? Peace. -
2014 Journey Blacktop SXT
redtomatoman replied to jclayton1's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
My understanding is the radio is in the dash behind the screen. The screen is just for display. So I don't believe the screen will be replaced. I hope the new radio solves my issues. So far, uconnect has been the only disappointment with my DJ. Crossing my fingers. . . Peace. -
Very loud

Take your DJ to the dealer. There is a fix for the radio startup volume issue. Peace. -
2014 Journey Blacktop SXT
redtomatoman replied to jclayton1's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
Yes. My 2011 uconnect has had some intermittent issues. Nothing so consistent that I wasn't able to live with it, but recently it has been worsening. I'm scheduled to have my radio unit replaced 4/8/15. I've summarized my issues on another thread. I'll update after the replacement. Peace. -
Unknown. Likely accessing my account and changing radio IDs for the account. When the customer service rep checked my radio ID, it had been changed. I had a hint on 3/25. I received an email that I had called listener care; which I had not. I called to see what was up. Sirius asked if I still had my Dakota and Journey. I do. So I thought nothing had changed. The next day, no Sirius. Someone apparently hijacked my account and changed radio IDs. They were hoping I was not paying attention, I suppose. New security question on my account now. Peace.

Sirius radio went to preview today. Called Sirius. They attempted to resend the signal. No response. Long story short, when the service rep checked the radio ID, no match. Added a security question to my account today. Hope that doesn't continue to happen. $#!7, what next? People suck. They will steal anything. Peace.

My kumhos were perfect for 43000+ miles. Smooth as glass. Still had probably 5000 miles left, but I replaced them before winter with Continental DWS tires to get some new tread under my DJ. So far they are good, but need rebalancing after less than 5000 miles. My kumhos were pretty darn good. Peace.

Well, my DJ was at the Dodge service center for a day and a half. The service folks told me it was fixed after an update. I wasn't buying it. When I arrived, I was told to go on a test drive to be sure all was working. Finally the technician was able to experience most of my concerns after I took him on an hour test drive to show him how my uconnect misbehaves. Better late than never. Service manager suggested replacing the uconnect/radio unit for the touchscreen behaviors and the USB connection cable that runs to the center console for the iPod (just to be more thorough). I really don't think the USB connection cable is causing any issues, but I am hopeful that a new radio/uconnect unit will behave more agreeably. I will not be too surprised, though, if the new unit behaves the same or very similiar. Thank goodness for my extended warranty!!! If I can just be rid of the iPod music skips and Nav freezes, I'll be satisfied. Peace.
