Thanks bram. Makes me feel better that there isn't a lot of digging to get it out. I suppose I'll take it in to have them give me a diagnosis. I am hopeful that a new radio would cure my symptoms, but not holding my breath. I have used 3 generations of ipods, 7 year old classic, a 2 year old classic, and a new ipod touch. All behave the same way, except the touch confuses the music ordering structure. I sold that piece of junk. My classics work well except for the skips. I have no idea what is causing the blank screens, freezes, erroneous title info, and climate unsync. I doulbt Dodge will know either, but I guess I will give them a shot at it. Peace.

Definitely take it back to the dealer who did the repairs. It could be something serious or simple. One thing not yet mentioned is having air in you coolant circulation. This can impede coolant flow and cause temp to rise when the coolant stops and drop when it flows again. Your radiator may need to be cleaned and flushed to improve flow as well. How's your heat working? Peace.

I have the lifetime extended warranty. While the radio has been quirky since new, the previous symptoms were tolerable and more intermittent. The more recent blank screen and Nav freeze symptoms are what are really getting under my skin. Is the radio difficult to remove? I really hate the idea of some tech digging into my dash. More comments and thoughts please! Peace.

While my Uconnect 8.4 RB5 basically works well, I do have some intermittent Uconnect symptoms. 1. Ever since new, iPod music consistently skips/drops out every 20-30 minutes. This is constantly annoying. 2. Ever since new, Uconnect sometimes recatalogs iPod library after parking for a short time (this process takes about 1 minute per gigabyte of music on the iPod). Annoying! 3. The screen sometimes displays incorrect title information. It almost always does this after a parking library recatalog. It will sometimes display incorrect title info when playing iPod music in the shuffle mode. 4. Screen has randomly gone blank while driving (buttons still work). This has occured twice over the last few months. This requires an engine shutoff and restart to remedy. 5. Navagation has frozen 4 times over the last few months. This also requires an engine shutoff and restart to remedy. This is dangerous because I am relying on the nav at the time and there is not always a safe place to stop. This is infuriating when it happens. 6. Climate control temperatures constantly unsync. Again, dangerous as it is another thing that I need to constantly correct while driving. I am considering beginning the process to have my dealership replace my Uconnect whatever that means (not sure what actually has to be replaced). My concerns are that the problems are intermittent and I will have to endure the "couldn't reproduce the problem" BS almost endlessly. I am concerned that I will go through the process and my new Uconnect will be the same as my current one. I am also concerned about some ding-a-ling ripping into my dash and breaking parts that I cannot see so that rattles begin in a few years. Comments? Peace.

Right! I do this. Really saves brakes. I can't get count the number of times I have smelled the strong odor of burning brakes from other cars on a long descent. I usually barely touch my brakes when I gear down slightly. Some may say this harms the engine/tranny, but if done easily it does not. Peace.

Hmmm. . . Try this link. Peace.

This post has everything to do with a Journey, but nothing to do with Dodge. . . Just got back from a surf trip to El Salvador. I made a video. Posted it on Vimeo. Check it out if you want. The link is below. Peace. https://vimeo.com/home/myvideos/page:1/sort:date/format:video

So far my brakes have been fine. Thanks for the tip. Visited the web site. They look good. Peace.

Uconnect issues
redtomatoman replied to Number-Six's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
No. You don't need any codes. If you did you'd have it in the manual for use when you needed a new battery. Peace. -
In whatever format the next FCA crossover emerges, I predict that it will be called the Crossroad. It could retain the Journey name, but I think Crossroad is being groomed now. I think it will remain a Dodge. An SRT version would be nice, but thay can't even get their Dart SRT efforts organized. I'm not holding my breath for a crossover SRT. I'm still very happy with the HP and performance of my DJ R/T. I doubt i'll have much envy even if a new SRT cross does emerge in the near future. Peace.

The key has left the vehicle
redtomatoman replied to roxhar's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Key Fobs, Locks & Remote Start
Yes. It will continue to run. The EVIC will chime that the fob has left the vehicle. Peace. -
Did you do both high and low beams?

I considering upgrading now. I'm a complete idiot when it comes to stuff like this. How good are the instructions? Did you do everything yourself? Peace.

Those do look pretty good. How " plug and play" are they? More than 20 mins install time per side? Peace.

To all the brake gurus out there, here is my question. . . With all the comments and threads that this subject has generated, what really is the problem with the 2011 and early 2012 Journey brakes? Is the caliper size the problem? Is it poor quality OEM brake pads? Is it poor quality rotors? Is it something else? Is it a combination? I have had no problems with my 2011 brakes so far. I know for certain that the service manager at my dealership has the techs specifically look for brake problems or rotor warping when I'm in for an oil change. I realize that I drive only about 20% in town and the rest is highway. I may begin having problems with the brakes. If that occurs, just wondering what is the actual weakness of the pre-2012 brakes. Peace.

Welcome. I hope you enjoy your DJ as much as I have. Peace.

Going to be 90+F in El Salvador next week when I'm there. That's cold enough for me. Ha! Peace.

My 11 R/T doesn't. I'm glad actually. Too many badges are just too many badges in my view. Peace.

Jiffy lube is fine if you don't let them do anything except the oil change. My Dakota has 244k and has been to jiffy lube nearly exclusively. I do have a good mechanic though. Peace.

I got the same 4 changes for $59.99 deal. I'm assuming they are using mopar dino oil. I've never asked. At 15 bucks per oil change, any oil is fine. I get my oil changed right at 5000 miles anyway. Plus my dealer washes my DJ after the oil change. Works out nice. Peace.

Couldn't you add the overhead compartment/sunglass holder that appears in other DJ trims? Seems to me like a good place to start.

8 mpg in a vehicle rated for 19-21 overall mpg? K&N isn't going to help. You've got problem and it needs to be diagnosed by your dealer service center. Best of luck. Peace.
