  1. Set your switch into the rhestat section right below the first detent and set your headlights to Auto. During the day uconnect will keep your displays at 10 and at night uconnect will change your display to 7 when the headlights turn on automatically. Peace.
  2. I don't remember exactly, so I hope this is right. The left dimmer switch dims the interior lights. The right one, closest to steering wheel, is for the cup holders and door lights. On the left dimmer switch, there are two detents; one all the way at the top and one just below. At the top all interior lights are on all the time, including the headliner lights. The next detent does not engage the headliner lights, but keeps the display ( speedo and screen) bright all the time. Below this detent is the rheostat portion of the switch. When the switch is set into this rheostat section, then the uconnect brightness selections with headlights on and off are active. With the headlights on the speedo and screen will revert to your uconnect selections. I keep mine at 10 with Head lights off (daytime) and 5 with headlights on (nighttime). I think this is right and I hope it is helpful. Peace.
  3. Mine works from far away. Like 100 yards. I can start my DJ from inside the house or inside a restaurant or whatever. Yours should do the same. Good luck. Peace.
  4. I use the little slot down by my right calf. Works great, but I don't need to see my phone too often when driving. Even when I do, I can reach it easily. Peace.
  5. Holy $#!+! Glad you're OK. Best of luck finding a new DJ. Peace.
  6. In snow, I try to not use my 4x4 in my Dakota. The thing to remember is that 4WD and AWD help you get going, but they don't help you stop! That's where the biggest problems are often realized. Peace.
  7. So sorry, man! Nothing worse than having an accident and driving a scarred vehicle. Best of luck with repairs. Peace.
  8. On vacation in the Poconos. Drove through noreaster 3 inches of snow all day yesterday while shopping. Yes, it was a Cherokee, but never touched the transfer case. RWD all day. No problems. Just drove responsibly. Peace.
  9. I'll tell what's unreliable. . . Consumer Reports. Don't know about carcomplaints.com. I find consumer reviews either completely inflated or completely negative and therefore pretty unreliable unless the are all pretty alike. My 2011 has been good. Peace.
  10. I'm not sure this is true. The intention of Gracenote is to recognize music and automatically assign the correct album art without the user having to do anything. I think Dodge thought the technology was innovative and thought it would sell cars. But. . . hindsight is 20/20. There are problems with using Gracenote because it is like any other file; it needs updates and there are always compatibility issues. Because of these, Gracenote sux IMHO. I leave it off. Peace.
  11. Yes. Here's a good tutorial. You can also download the program to add the ID3 tags to your files. Peace.
  12. ID3 tags have to be added to each mp3 file. One by one. Peace.
  13. Next an alignment if rotation and balance doesn't fix the shake. After that, I'd get to the dealer asap as you are still under warranty. Peace.
  14. Oh yeah, one more question? Any hiccups or skips in the music with the SD card? Peace.
  15. OK, so you've been using the SD card. Cool. How do you structure your files? I'm assuming a folder structure with Artist as the main folder, the Albums in that folder, and all the Songs in the correct Album folder. And, for the sake of the thread, would ID3 tagging the files allow album art to show? My assumption is that uconnect ignores album art unless you enable Gracenote. I know dhh3 would appreciate that info. Also, what is FAT format? Do I have to purchase a special FAT SD card? Thanks, rolly. Peace.
  16. Album art can be added to mp3 files using a myriad of different ID3 tag programs. The question is this: Does uconnect ignore those tags in favor of Gracenote? The answer seems to be, Yes. If not, imbedding art is fairly straightforward. I'm not so interested in album art as I am sound quality. Album art is cool, but will the files play without skipping if I eliminate the iPod? One reason that I am hesitant to ditch the iPod is because I like my iPod playlists. With the iPod, there are features like the search by alphabet and play by genre. Sometimes you just want to listen to punk. Right? I don't currently have a card reader for my PC, so that would be necessary in addition to the price of the SD card. Before I go out and spend money, I was hoping that others had some experience with the SD cards. If all I get is a list of files without any search functions and I have to give up all the playlists, I'm not sure I want to do it. The iPod skips really really really really piss me off! Peace.
  17. Looked through my 2011 manual for information on SD card use, but couldn't find anything. Is there really nothing on this topic in our manual? I've been thinking about utilizing it since I can't seem to get away from the iPod skips. Anyway, TIA for any info. Peace.
  18. I'm sure others who know more will chime in, but I remember something about memory capacity being a thing. Too big and it won't work, I think? FAT32 sounds right for format. I use an iPod. Works well except for some skips in the music. I like the playlist option. Haven't tried a USB drive in mine. I keep meaning to. Also intrigued by the SD card reader. Haven't tried that either. Peace.
  19. Tranny should "learn" your driving style although some complain about shifting. Use the manual shifting, that's why dodge provides that option. Newer models have the bigger better brakes. My 2011 has the smaller ones, although I haven't had any problems yet. Mileage will improve too. Peace.
  20. If you find a solution to the skipping problem, please let us know. I think its just the iPod - uconnect interface. At least I know that its not just my radio so no need to waste time in the service department. Peace.
  21. Some constriction on the side of the filling door is certainly possible. Not sure if you can crawl under the vehicle to view the filling components. Try that. I think you're going to end up at the dealer though. Make sure its empty when you take it in. Not only will you get some free gas, but they will likely need space to add gas during diagnosis. Good luck. Peace.
  22. 6. Absolutely no question. The 4 is weak and fuel economy is only slightly better. The Pentastar v6 is one of ward's best engines. I don't believe that you would be sorry if you choose the 6. The extra cost is worth it, imho. Congrats on the DJ. Peace.
  23. 2011 and newer Chrysler Nav systems use garmin software. Not sure why your unit is malfunctioning. Uconnect is proprietary. Dealer intervention is likely needed. Doubt a garmin update would fix your green screen. Good luck. Peace.
