  1. The DJ isn't invisible, people are brand blind. Marketing is everything. When all my friends really look at my DJ, they are impressed. When I get after it and the Pentastar pushes them back in their seat they are wow'd! They're not diggin' their 4 cyl as much anymore. Ha. Fit and finish in our DJs is just as good as anything out there, IMO. Last 450 mile trip my DJ got 24.2 mpg with a bike on the roof, 3 passengers, and luggage. I'm still impressed.
  2. With the 255/50/19 size, the tires will not rub on the wheel wells. Any bigger and I think there would be rub. The speedo is very close. The actual speed when the speedo reads 60 mph will be 60.67 mph. The actual speed won't be a whole mph different until 90, if I remember right. Peace.
  3. A dealer visit may be appropriate. I'd check the transmission fluid. Sometimes low levels of tranny fluid can cause stalls when stopping. I know the tranny is a closed system. Not sure how to check the transmission fluid level at home. As a mechanic, maybe you do. Good luck. Peace.
  4. They seemed quite difficult to find when I was looking for tires. Never did find a set; even at the firestone store. Hopefully you'll find them. Peace.
  5. Installed the uconnect update today. Didn't rid my system of the skips/intermittent dropouts. Oh well. Decided to call the uconnect customer service line. They were only limited help. Said that the iPod classic has not been tested with uconnect. WTF? Also said that the presence of m4a files on my iPod may be causing incompatibility issues. What? IDK. Told me to load a USB stick with only mp3 files to see if uconnect still skips. Maybe I'll try this. I think I've lost my interest in pursuing updates or new hardware from the dealer. Peace.
  6. Hi all- I can probably do this myself, but is there a charge for this update if I roll it in with an oil change at the dealership? Maybe this will finally get rid of my iPod skips. Seems like I may be the only one or one of the few who experience these. I plan to get the service manager involved in my skips issue if this does not fix the problem. Peace.
  7. Ok, I guess you got me on that one. My perspective is from high desert weather. Warm dry summers, light snow in winter, not much salt on our roads. I guess you'll have to get ready to pay full tilt with a low ball trade. I hear Florida is nice. . .
  8. I think most people ARE stupid enough to pay full price with a low ball trade. People want what they want and they want it now. Math is hard, so most people skip it. These salespeople feed off of stupid. I can't believe the money that the average person wastes on new vehicles. Boggles my mind. Keep your SE. Treat it right, and it will likely run for 20 years. My Dakota is 24 yo in February, still going. . . Peace.
  9. Right. I use one for road colas, and one for my wetsuit or muddy riding shoes or anything wet. I think I'm one of the few who would have used the chill zone for its intended purpose if my 2011 had one. Peace.
  10. Scheduled for 2016, so probably 2017 or 2018. Likely a SRT-4. Peace.
  11. Yes. Not sure if wider tires will fit the rims, but 255 is the widest the wheel wells will allow. If I really crank the wheel it will rub just slightly. I like the look of the asymmetric tread design. Peace.
  12. Keep us updated as to whether the steering wheel trick works. Peace.
  13. So I pulled the trigger on some new tires today before winter. Got Continental ExtremeContact DWS 255/50/19. They are marketed as ultra high performance, all season tires. No rubbing at all. They are quiet and seem to provide a smooth ride. Not going to test the performance until I have at least 100 miles on them. Fairly aggressive tread; almost look like a summer tire. The 255 width is not as dramatic as I thought it'd be, but the extra width looks good,IMO. The circumference keeps the speedometer nearly spot on. My hope is that the extra width will provide some extra traction over the Kumhos. The upshot here is that these 255/50/19s fit the DJ just fine. Similar asymmetric tread to the Firestone Destination ST tires featured in the crossroad photos. Incidentally, I saw a crossroad on my way home from the tire shop, it had kumho 225s on it. Ha. I posted a few pics in my redtomatoman gallery. Peace.
  14. While I think our uconnect software is adequate, I think it is flawed. The cataloging, Gracenote, nonfunctional features. . . Take flawed software and add the most proprietary crap in the world (Apple) and you get what we have in our DJs. Frustration. I'm at the point now where I am wondering whether I should even attempt to have my issues diagnosed. I'm afraid any attempt to fix it might make it worse. As long as I use my iPod classic, my music loads correctly. I may just have to live with the skips. Peace.
  15. I recently purchased an iPod touch with hopes that the newer OS would perform better than my classic. With my classic I get these skips or drops in the music. They last a fraction of a second. They are annoying as $#!+ whenever the volume is up at all. The skips occur about every 30 minutes or so. Sometimes more often. I HATE them. Unfortunately, the skips occur just as frequently with the touch. There's $300 bucks wasted! With my classic all my albums are organized exactly as they are on the iPod and iTunes. All my album tracks are in the correct order. With the touch, I get the alphabetical song sequencing. My iPod classic is the video version. Under About, the version is 1.3. The model is MA002LL. The format is listed as Windows. I hope this is helpful. If anyone has any information about the skips/drops that I am experiencing, please please post. If I can get rid of the skipping, I will be very happy. Peace.
  16. Also, noticed that my iPod has mixed up the order of my album tracks. Anyone else have their iPod track order goofy in uconnect?
  17. I agree with SeXT, but if you don't want the dealership to have you DJ forever or have multiple failed repair attempts, I'd definitely try to find a way to either remedy (not fix) the problem or reproduce the problem before taking for service. A little detective work on your end will likely be invaluable to the tech. Good luck. Peace.
  18. Does anyone else have the problem of their iPod re-cataloging after the engine is stopped or after not driving for a week or so? My uconnect does this. Irritates me to no end. I even bought a new iPod thinking the new OS may help. Didn't. TIA for any help. Peace.
  19. I have not had this situation on my 2011, but the first thing I would try is to unhook the battery for 15 minutes to reset the system. If it occurs again I would try the steering wheel rotation suggested above. Next time it occurs whip out your camera and document it. Heck film it with your camera. Show that to your dealer. Good Luck. Peace.
