  1. Nah. Really?!? Are there any new vehicles out there without auto headlights? Peace.
  2. I think the 255/50/19 tires will fit. I think they will look better too. I haven't yet, but I plan to replace the OEM 225s with the 255/50/19 size. Discount Tire's computer system has the 255/50/19 size as a fit for the DJ. Peace.
  3. It seems to me that Dodge and Chrysler have been the convenient whipping boy for auto manufacturers. For whatever reason Chrysler's reliability record is seen as below the rest of the American auto makers and Japanese seen as the best. Maybe that's true, but I personally don't believe it. Its all marketing. Subaru vehicles are beloved in the US, but the fact is they lack fit and finish, IMO. Subaru vehicles in Canada, OTOH, are much less popular with Dodge clearly outselling them. Even in a wintery climate where awd is important. Marketing is powerful. I have a Dakota with nearly 250k miles on it as my daily driver. Runs great. All manufacturers have their strengths. I absolutely love my Pentastar and I think Dodge/Chrysler vehicles have pushed their styling as to be the coolest for decades. My opinion. I'm not at all surprised by my Dodge. Great car.
  4. Thinking of some embroidery similar to my front arm rest. I created a cool 70's style image of the DJ by modifying a magnum image. Photos in my front arm rest in the redtomatoman gallery. Peace.
  5. If anyone knows how to remove the rear armrest or has a diagram, please share. I'd like to remove mine. Peace.
  6. My understanding is that the DRLs are lower intensity high beams, not yellow at all. At least mine are not... Dodge or the US government or whomever should make them standard, IMO. Then if the owner doesn't think they look cool, he or she can unchecked them in uconnect and forget about having DRLs. Makes sense, right? Right. (Notice I said standard, not required.) Peace.
  7. Folks keep mentioning night-time. Remember, DRLs are for daylight; not night when your headlights will already be on. I find DRLs most beneficial and visible during sunny days when attempting to identify whether there is an oncoming vehicle when thinking about a pass on a two lane road. That said, I use them when traveling on long stretches of road and not when in town. When traveling its one less thing I need to think about and when I'm home I simply turn them off. Love the touch screen functionality. Not sure why this situation of no dealership activation for DRLs has arisen, but I think those who want to have them enabled should be able to. There may be a software or hardware reason. I'd like to see Dodge just make them standard. Just my opinion. Peace.
  8. No airbags but the headrests do deploy forward in a crash. Unless you know exactly what you are doing, I don't recommend removing headrests. Peace.
  9. I just recently purchased an iPod touch. Newer software. Not sure which OS it has, but I have noticed that cataloging takes a lot longer vs my older iPod classic. I'm a PC guy not that up to date with what others are lining up for now. Just thought I'd mention my experience as it may take well over 45 minutes to catalog depending on how much music you have. Peace.
  10. Dunno. Doesn't work for my 2011 RB5. Technology. . . Unless you spend a lot of money, the general rule is that you're not getting the latest technology. Then wait a year and the newest version trumps yours anyway. Endless. I'm sure there is some good marketing reason why the technology was not cascaded to all uconnect versions and vehicle models. Peace.
  11. Yeah, the Pentastar is really really good. Peace.
  12. I have just "learned" my gauge. It doesn't get all the way to F. I believe my DJ gauge goes towards E too quickly so that there is more gas in the tank than the reading would lead one to assume. That's better than the opposite though! Its just a gas gauge. As long as you know when to fill the tank, you'll be alright. This whole thing reminds me of Spinal Tap's amplifier that goes to 11. Ha. Peace.
  13. When you live at 7000 feet elevation in NM, you get some snow. And, yes, my FWD does fine in the snow. Peace.
  14. Right. I have FWD and it is fine. I have seen planty on this forum complain that the service AWD light is ever present in snow. Peace.
  15. Does it really matter? I have raced a challenger just for fun. It must have been a V6 because I managed to beat it with two bikes on the roof, 2 passengers, and a third row full of mountain biking gear. Terminal velocity over 100mph. Evidently, there is no real difference between 283 and 305. The only difference is the cocktail party banter? I used to think a tune would be simply bad ass, but now I realize the real strength of the DJ is utility. With a little vinegar mixed in, of course. If you want a challenger, get one. Our DJs won't ever be a challenger. DJs are cooler,IMHO. Peace.
  16. I believe that the screens are the same. The Nav is located behind the dash in the uconnect system. If your DJ uconnect doesn't have Nav, it won't show on the screen, but I think it will work nonetheless. Peace.
  17. Billet technology makes a dress up kit. Anodized aluminum etched R/T. Peace.
  18. *Yawn* I'm sure the US plants take their time as they aren't under any time constraints, right? Mine was built in Mexico just like all the others you compared yours to. Chrysler ensures that the cars from toluca are the same as michigan. The shirt you're wearing was sewn in a sweat shop in China. Your shoes constructed in Indonesia. Your iPhone was manufactured God knows where. What's your point? Get your paint checked. I hope you don't have anything wrong. Oh, and be careful of those shady American capitalists, they own body shops too. If anything is wrong with your paint, I wouldn't be at all surprised to find an American company behind it. Merica! Right? Peace.
  19. Right. From what I have read here, AWD is FWD when the Service AWD light comes on. Seems to happen every time AWD is needed most. Glad I got FWD. Peace.
  20. 245/50/19 are almost spot on for wheel diameter so that keeps the speedometer accurate. 255/50/19 will fit (according to discount tire) but the speedometer will be read slightly low. I'm going to go with one of those sizes when I need new tires. I'm at 42,000+ miles currently. I think I can get another 5k out of them. Peace.
  21. I posted some pictures in my redtomatoman photo gallery of adding a grille emblem to my engine cover. It looks pretty cool and adds to the engine dress up kit that I have installed. I used the snap-on honeycomb grille type as that's what I happened to have. If I was to do this again I'd definitely use the push-on type with the metal push caps on the back. I used 3M tape to secure it in place. My initial plan was to drill the holes in the engine cover so that the emblem would "snap" in place in addition to the 3M tape. Turns out the shape of the snap-on pieces on the back of the emblem are tapered and this affected how big the holes had to be so it wouldn't "snap" into place. I had to drill and re-drill the holes until it would fit into place. I hope the 3M tapes holds and stands up to the engine bay temps. Time will tell. . . It looks clean and is solid today, so I'm hopeful. I'd love to hear comments. Peace.
