Not sure which models have gracenote. Dodge may have stopped using it after 2012, not sure. Also not sure if the 4.3 systems have gracenote. On my 2011 8.4N (RB5) there is a setting under audio that is called Music Info Cleanup. This system is powered by gracenote. I keep it off all the time. I recently read that it is this gracenote system that supports VR for the iPod. Not sure if that is true. I plan to test this next time I have my iPod in the DJ. I see now that folks on this thread have 2014 models. Hopefully, you do not have gracenote if you have the 8.4 system. I have an appointment at the service center for some Uconnect updates today. Probably will have no effect on the Music Info Cleanup function, but I will test it once again with my iPod after the updates. I'll also check my Van Halen files. How can I even drive if I can't find my Van Halen files so I can crank up the volume?!? Peace.

This sounds like a Gracenote issue. I'm typing on my phone and the forum app does not show which DJ you have. My 2011 has Gracenote. If you are not familiar with Gracenote, the long and short of it is that Gracenote matches up music with artwork without having the artwork files using the Gracenote database. No updates are available, that I know of. That means no artwork for any songs or albums newer than your DJ. Uconnect does not process any album artwork at all, best I can tell. If you have Gracenote, I don't think the presence of album artwork matters as Uconnect ignores it and relies solely on Gracenote for artwork information. In some cases the Gracenote also goofs up the artist information. Some of my Van Halen albums are listed under a Gracenote typo name and are therefore not searchable on the touchscreen. Gracenote is terrible,IMO. I keep it off always. Not sure if Gracenote is the source of your problem, but if you find a solution, please keep us updated. Peace.

My 2011 had a cruise control issue. Worked intermittently. Turned out to be the steering column control module (sccm). Have your dealer check that out. There is some transmission "learning" for our DJs. Maybe have the dealer reset your transmission and it can "learn" your driving style. Dunno. Don't really know what the "learning" is all about but I have seen it discussed here. Best of luck to you. The DJ is a cool rig. Enjoy. Peace.

No Map Data Available
redtomatoman replied to Journeyman425's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
Right! I did the exact same thing. Best $2800.00 I ever spent. I have the $100 deductible plan. The electronics are finicky. One day all is fine. The next, nothing. . . I am currently waiting for some uconnect TSB updates from my dealer. Evidently they had to order disks with the updates on them. The electronics are awesome until they're not. HaHa. Good luck with your Nav. Peace. -
uConnect Map Update
redtomatoman replied to Daks1954's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
On my 2011 uconnect, my screen simply says that my map version is over a year old, if I recall correctly. Mine does not elude to update availability I don't think. Interesting. Peace. -
uConnect Map Update

Did your uconnect alert you to an outdated map? Peace. -
Just got back from an 950 mile trip through Colorado with the DJ. Averaged right on 30 mpg on the EVIC. Didn't check it at home, but checked it mid-way and it was 0.4 over. So, at least 29 mpg through the Colorado Rockies. High point at about 9000 feet. I'm pretty damn impressed. Had ample power to make lots of FAST 2 lane road passes. Man the DJ has power when you need it! Peace.

I have a 2011, but I'm sure it is the same. The ACC or RUN positions will time out after 30 mins if the car is not running per the 2011 manual. That has been consistent with my experience, at least. So the shut off is normal, probably some battery save mechanism to prevent battery drain in the event that the car is accidentally left in the ACC position after parking. Not to hijack your thread, but as long as we are on this subject, there is a statement in the manual that I remember when I first read my manual back in 2011 that I never understood and simply forgot about because it makes no sense to me, so here it is. I bolded the questionable statement. Maybe someone can straighten me out. To Turn Off the Engine Using ENGINE START/STOP Button 1. Place the shift lever in PARK, then press and release the ENGINE START/STOP button. 2. The ignition switch will return to the OFF position. 3. If the shift lever is not in PARK, the ENGINE START/ STOP button must be held for two seconds and vehicle speed must be above 5 mph (8 km/h) before the engine will shut off. The ignition switch position will remain in the ACC position until the shift lever is in PARK and the button is pressed twice to the OFF position. If the shift lever is not in PARK and the ENGINE START/STOP button is pressed once, the EVIC (if equipped) will display a “Vehicle Not In Park” message and the engine will remain running. Never leave a vehicle out of the PARK position, or it could roll. NOTE: If the ignition switch is left in the ACC or RUN (engine not running) position and the transmission is in PARK, the system will automatically time out after 30 minutes of inactivity and the ignition will switch to the OFF position. Peace.

First of all, don't panic. Get it to your dealer to diagnose the problem. It may be very simple. If its serious, the warranty will cover everything. Good luck. Peace.

I'd say get into the dealer in the next 40 km. They should warranty up to 60K. After 60K, they can technically deny your warranty repair. I don't think any reasonable dealer would deny a warranty claim in this case for a LOUD creak unless they are just mean. :shades: I made my dealer replace one of the plastic covers that goes over the seat floor bolts when it broke. Completely cosmetic. Peace.

It depends on the part, I suppose. Our DJs are on the avenger platform, so many of those parts may fit. I believe that our engine tuning is the same as the avenger, although the engine layout is different so some parts such as hoses and air intakes may be different. Peace.

2011 Dodge Journey steering wheel vibration

Right. After my post, I found it in the emergency/spare tire section of the manual. I should have looked there first. Peace. -
2011 Dodge Journey steering wheel vibration
redtomatoman replied to BSDodge's topic in Brake, Chassis & Suspension
Huh. . . I didn't know that. That may be the problem. Bigtsr, do you happen to know the torque setting for our DJs? That way I can mention it to the service manager next time I have my tires rotated or to the tire store when I have my tires changed. Thanks. Peace. -
2011 Dodge Journey steering wheel vibration
redtomatoman replied to BSDodge's topic in Brake, Chassis & Suspension
Not sure. I too have a 2011 with some very slight vibration. I can't decide what mine is either. I think it may be the OEM tires as my DJ is not my daily driver and sits in the garage most of the week. I have not had the brake issues because even though I have 37,000+ miles on my DJ, they are mostly highway miles. There are times when the vibration behaves just as you describe on light braking and other times it is constant. My vibration is very slight as to not be that noticeable most of the time so I haven't done anything about it. I will be following this thread to see what others say. . . Peace. -
The photos I have seen have Firestone destination st tires on them. Love the tread design, but they don't come in the size I want. Peace.

Very nice upgrades. Do the LED lights make a big difference in the map light? Peace.

Right. The uconnect site does have a list of models that are compatible. I gave up looking at the uconnect site sometime in 2013. The trick is trying to match up the phone software versions. Good luck! I have been through two phones that were on the list, but neither worked for messaging. Looking for a certain phone with certain software is just too difficult. I have yet to see anyone post that they can text through uconnect. I hope to see that someone has been successful. After I did a little more research, it seems that texting does not work while driving. Which makes sense, but I'd like to have my texts display while driving. Not sure of all the specifics. Too much work. Too many unknowns. I gave up. Uconnect text seems useless. I just call people. Old school, I know. Talking. . . so yesterday, right?Peace.

Not sure if anyone has gotten the messaging feature to work in a DJ. If anyone has, hopefully they will post. I certainly haven't. I think uconnect simply does not support messaging. If you get it working, let us all know. Peace.

Unusual: rear brakes worn out; front brakes still at 50%
redtomatoman replied to Easy's topic in Brake, Chassis & Suspension
Nope. I've never heard of that, but my rear wheels certainly do get more brake dust. Keep us updated. Peace. -
Rotor/Pad recommendations
redtomatoman replied to Jay Sixspeedrt's topic in Brake, Chassis & Suspension
Is there a brembo rotor/caliper/pad combo that will fit the DJ? Peace. -
Yes. Instructions are in your manual. Peace.

I'd consider waiting for the next generation. But those crossroads are nice. I think 9k or a little more is reasonable. Peace.
