What happens? What do you mean by not accepting the iPod? Mine will start to play while uconnect catalogs the iPod contents. That's how uconnect works. Peace.

Replace head unit screen

I believe the screen is just an interface. The guts are in the dash. I feel certain it can be ordered. Should be covered under warranty. Peace. -
11 awd slight pause between shifts
redtomatoman replied to DJRocCity's topic in Engine & Transmission
Not sure what your definition of high mileage is. My 2011 has nearly 40,000 miles on it. Shifts are pretty darn smooth. I would expect the shift transitions should be quite smooth for a three year old vehicle regardless of mileage. If you are concerned, take it in to have the transmission software updated or reset or whatever they do. Peace. -
Wow! Looks really good. I expected it to be more different though. Has dodge expounded on the drivetrain? 3.2? 3.6 turbo? Just 3.6 direct injection? If the SRT is mostly an options upgrade, that will be disappointing. Peace.

New Grill Emblem (with red stripes)

I just did. Looks good. Peace. -
I decided to go with the 245/50/19 size because I think the speedo difference will be very small. Do you notice a difference between the speedo and GPS speed? Peace.
-
Right. I was hoping to get the Firestone Destination ST in the 245 size. Nope. Peace.

I've got 37,000+ miles on my kumhos. The kumhos have been good, but I've got another trip to the coast planned (1500 miles round trip). I think this may be the end for the kumhos after this trek. I think I want something slightly wider, so I'm planning to go with 245/50/19. Circumference is nearly the same as OEM. Anyone have experience with this tire size? Opinions? Any advice? I'm concerned about rubbing with turning because of the increased width. I would really hate that. Please let me know your thoughts. The folks here always give good advice. Peace.

Well. . . My Unconnect did it again. No cataloging and all my new content was there after an iPod update. After I did it, I noticed that I made a typo on a song title, so I disconnected the iPod and corrected that in iTunes and re-synched my iPod. Same thing. No cataloging and the typo was corrrected. Weird. After a few errands of parking and restarting the DJ, Uconnect never did re-catalog. Dunno. Peace.

Front Grille Emblem Change. Advise please.

In 2011, the journey R/T came with the body color grille. I think that's still the case although not sure. The new grille emblem adds some pop to the front IMHO. Peace. -

Got it done. Very easy. Only took about 10 minutes. -

Ditto. 37,000 miles and I do not have this problem. Can't say it will never happen, but not yet, at least. Peace.

When I need to replace my kumhos, I will likely go with something in the range of 245/50/19. If I remember correctly, that size is nearly spot on for diameter to the 225/55/19. Almost no speedo change and wider for a larger traction patch. There are a few speedo calculators out there to compare tire sizes. Not sure about rubbing with turns. Peace.

Cool. I've never tried wine nor mead. My wife likes mead, but I'm not too fond of the sweetness. I just kegged a rye pale ale and dry hopped IPA. Enjoy your strawberry blonde! Peace.

Found these nuggets from an article about the future plans of Chrysler (now FCA) : Dodge Journey is to be refocused to be more “Dodge-like,” while Chrysler will handle the mini-minivan aspects of the current Journey with a new mid-sized crossover. The Journey is also getting a turbocharged engine (front wheel drive only), in addition to the base model with front drive or AWD. As noted earlier, Journey and Dart will be refreshed and refocused in mid-2016 — with SRT versions, set for launch in December 2016 and January 2017, respectively. The refresh is likely to include a new turbocharged four cylinder, the “Hurricane engine” which appears to be a mix of Tiger Shark and Pentastar engines. It may come in two versions, 240 hp standard and higher-power SRT; at the moment, Dart tops out at 184 hp. Not sure exactly what this means. Is the DJ getting a turbocharged pentastar or a turbocharged 4 cylinder? Time will tell. The DJ is definitely the most under-appreciated vehicle in the Dodge lineup and its cool that the DJ is finally getting some attention payed to it, but I hope the SRT version has significantly more horsepower than the current pentastar version @ 283 hp. The previous 2.4L turbocharged Caliber SRT had only modestly more hp @ around 300. Torque was probably more though. I think the DJ is already pretty "Dodge-like". Its pretty bad ass for a cross-over/utility vehicle, IMHO. Peace.

I had the head problem on my 2011 in early 2012. I had no symptoms, though. My dealer discovered the code on an oil change visit. They changed the head and it has run spectacularly since that time. No issues whatsoever. I have probably put 20K miles on the car since the swap. Gas mileage has been the same and I have not noticed any difference in power or torque. Good luck. Peace.

Front Grille Emblem Change. Advise please.

I ordered the newer design front grille emblem. This one is a used factory emblem with the nuts on the back not the one with the hooks. I have looked at changing the emblem before but I have hesitated because it looks like the grille has to come off to get back behind the honeycomb grille to work. To all those who have changed their emblem, how did you do it? Did you remove the grille? Any advise is appreciated. I really don't want to remove the grille unless its fairly straight forward. Peace. -
*Update* Over the weekend my uconnect did finally recognize that my iPod content had changed and began the cataloging process after an engine restart. It also had some odd behavior. On two occasions it displayed a different song that it was playing, and one time it displayed the correct song, but had no sound. Once I forwarded the song, the next song had the correct title and in the case of no sound, the next song had sound. After that iPod behaved as it normally does. I used the radio the rest of the weekend. Radio, Nav, Phone seem fine. Sometimes I think that some of the uconnect iPod issues stem from the software in my iPod classic. Maybe the software in it is older and more weird. I don't know. I do know that I F'n hate gracenote. I leave that turned off always. Peace.

I really do love brewing. It's awesome. My jelly bean stout is brewed with lots of dark grains and star anise in the secondary to make it taste like black jelly beans. I do have to comment on sanitation. I used to be super paranoid. Not now. Anything before the boil only gets a rinse. My fermenters and my kegs get the thorough cleaning. I use a rectangular cooler for a mash tun. I also do not use a circular sparge arm. I do a modified batch sparge with a drip filter. Works well for me. Keep brewing. Kegging is way cooler and way easier than bottling. Peace.

Hopefully you will enjoy it enough to really get bitten. I now have my "brewery" in the garage. While I'm not a fan of Mr. Beer, brewing has to start somewhere. All-grain is where its at. Home brewing is a wonderful hobby, IMHO. Having a tap in the living room is the best!! I'm sure your IPA will be the best beer you ever drank. They all are. . . Because you're the brewer. Peace.

I'm a brewer and a smoker. I've been brewing since 1998. Smoking for the last two years. I have no favorites. I love my ESB and my IPA. I brew a mean jellybean stout as well. Brewing, mountain biking, surfing, smoking. Those are my past-times. Peace.
