  1. Search this forum. You will find a possible answer. Not sure if newer DJs have better protections against this. Using the front dvd while driving is a bad idea though. Peace.
  2. Hopefully this was a tow company that your dealer arranged. I would certainly make your dealer aware of the towing situation and what you observed. Just in case there is any damage. Most likely there will not be, but you can't be too careful. Good luck. Keep up updated. Peace.
  3. Break in for my DJ was until approximately 8 k miles. As break in progressed, economy improved. After 8 k miles I think I was at my best economy (most mpg, least L/100km). I get 24-25 mpg highway. Obviously economy is dependent upon driving conditions. Long warm ups absolutely kill fuel economy as does stop n go driving. I'm assuming the hemi is broken in. . . I doubt that engine got great fuel economy right from the factory. Peace.

  5. My journey's fuel economy improved steadily up to 8000 miles. I guess the engine has to break in before economy is optimal. Good luck.
  6. Dealer. It most likely needs a tow to the dealer. Peace.
  7. This post only tangentially has anything to do with our Dodge Journeys. I recently took a road trip to CA for some surfing. I loaded my mountain bike and surfboard on the roof rack and hit the road to the Pacific coast. Round trip from NM and back, I averaged nearly 24 mpg with the bike and surfboard. Journey ran like a champ. Only problem I had was somehow the bluetooth and voice command system lost communication with the mothership. Got that fixed in Kingman, AZ. I made a short surf video and the link is below for anyone who is interested. Came out pretty cool. Surfed 3 days. I'm a little disappointed that I missed my best wave session due to a dead camera battery. https://vimeo.com/58227314 Peace.
  8. So. . . Received my caliper covers last week, but was traveling so I didn't get a chance to install. I am impressed with the quality of the workmanship, but when I went to install the caliper covers, they were clearly too large. I text'd pics of the size disparity then called MGP and spoke with a few service reps who could not imagine why they did not fit. Stamped part numbers were correct, but they were way too big to go on my calipers. The only possible explanation they could offer over the phone we that maybe the wrong plates were used to fabricate the covers in my case. My understanding of their process is that they fabricate each set of covers specifically for each order. Evidently they have a number of flat plate templates that are then used as the starting point to fabricate the covers specific to your particular vehicle. MGP indicated that they have successfully installed their caliper covers on "hundreds of dodge journey vehicles". Anyway, they were very nice and I have since returned the covers. I will await their response and update this topic. I am still hopeful that the fitment and size disparity are a result of a simple mistake of starting with the wrong flat template. Peace.
  9. I totally get your frustration. If my ipod didn't work I'd be bummed. Have you thought about getting another ipod just for the journey? The other option is the sd card. The cd player plays mp3 files as well. Peace.

  11. Hello. Welcome. Look for my cherry red R/T with a mountain bike on the roof headed out towards Blue Diamond. I travel to Vegas often to relax and ride. Peace.
  12. If it is truly a knock and the dealer has not diagnosed it correctly then, if you have the extended warranty, drive it like its stolen and make your dealer fix it. If not, find a new dealer. Best of luck to you. Peace.
  13. Good job! It means you drove quite efficiently. Our DJs are capable of great mileage when driven responsibly. I got 25.5 from NM to CA on my current trip with a bike and surfboard on the roof. Mostly downhill though. I have found that my evic overestimates by about 1 mpg. Peace.
  14. Thanks DodgeCares. Already had that applied. I am currently traveling and I had planned to go for a mountain bike ride in Kingman AZ. On a whim, I just decided to call the local dealer to see what they would say. Amazingly, they got me right in since I was traveling. Went for my bike ride and they fixed it in less than two hours. Awesome! Finished my ride and went to pu my DJ. Couldn't have worked out any better. BTW, they told me that my voice command/Bluetooth module lost connection with the radio. They reset it. Seems to work fine now. Peace.
  15. Unbelievable. Sorry man. Best of luck to you. Peace.
  16. My 2011 R/T does have uconnect blue tooth and the 8.4 Nav. Both the phone and VR worked last week. Nothing now. I am wondering if anyone has had this issue. If so, what was the solution. I always like to go to the service dept. with a clue.
  17. Anyone have any ideas? Everything else seems to work just no voice command nor phone. Uconnect unit faulty? TIA. Peace.
  18. I have found low to be more comfortable. I would ditch the wallet altogether. Whenever I forget to take mine out of my pocket, my lower back hurts. I like my seat close to the steering wheel so I just move it forward. I find the seat quite comfortable. Chevy seats are the worst, IMHO. Peace.
  19. Your situation sounds similar to mine. Almost no symptoms. I didn't even have a check engine light. Nothing that I could discern anyway. Amazing diagnostics in these cars, I suppose. Dealer picked up my cam phaser code at a TSB update visit. At least these problems don't simmer unnoticed until they boil over as an engine failure and leave us stranded. I hated the idea that my perfectly new engine compartment would have to be be opened, but I suppose its better than being stranded. My dealer gave me a loaner too, a Jeep patriot. Made me appreciate getting my Journey back. Keep us updated. Maybe request to see the old cylinder head and ask the tech to show you where it failed if its visible. I did that with my cam phasers but when I looked at them the service manager said there was no visible failure. Maybe a bearing or something internal. Anyway it may be enlightening. Peace.
  20. After that post, I didn't have the cylinder 2 problem but I did have the cam phaser problem. Right at about 20k. I hope I never have the cylinder problem obviously. What were the symptoms? I know with my cam phaser, I had no discernible symptoms. Only the code. After replacement the engine still runs great. Best of luck to you. Peace.
  21. Wow. I feel your pain. My 2011 was one of the few with a defective cam phaser. The dealer had to keep my vehicle for 10 days while the part was ordered and they cracked my brand new engine open! It has been a few months and I think I'm over it now. At the time I was pretty pissed at Dodge. But I came to realize that sometimes s#!t just happens. All Dodge can do is try to fix things back to good asap. I understand that this is your second repair. Hopefully your last. Just remember this. . . Have some restraint with the service folks. They are the only ones that can repair your DJ. When my cam phaser went bad, I really felt like losing my mind. Glad now that I didn't. I have a service manager as an ally now. Anyway, best of luck to you and I hope you grow to like your DJ as much as I have. I have a surf/mountain bike trip planned for the DJ over the next week. Great vehicle. Peace.
  22. Hi George. First things first. I have the 2011 DJ, so I may not be the best person for your question. I did some research though. In order for folks on the forum to help you I believe we need more info. Exactly what radio do you have. I believe RET to be a sales code. Here are the radio options for the 2010 as best I can figure out: MEDIA CENTER 230 (REQ) — AM/FM STEREO RADIO AND 6–DISC CD/DVD CHANGER (MP3/WMA AUX JACK) MEDIA CENTER 730N/430 (RER/REN/RBZ) — AM/FM STEREO RADIO AND CD/DVD/HDD/NAV — IF EQUIPPED MEDIA CENTER 130 (RES) — AM/FM STEREO RADIO WITH CD PLAYER (MP3 AUX JACK) MEDIA CENTER 130 (RES/RSC) — AM/FM STEREO RADIO WITH CD PLAYER (MP3 AUX JACK) AND SIRIUS RADIO MEDIA CENTER 830N (REU) — AM/FM STEREO RADIO AND 6–DISC CD/DVD/HDD/NAV CHANGER — IF EQUIPPED Uconnect™ Multimedia (SATELLITE RADIO) — IF EQUIPPED (REN/REQ/RER/RES/REU/RBZ RADIOS ONLY) I think the forum folks will be able to help you more if you know which of the above is in your DJ. As far as connecting the iPod on DJs with the RET sales code, this is what I found: UNIVERSAL CONSUMER INTERFACE (UCI) — IF EQUIPPED NOTE: This section is for sales code RES/REL and REQ/RET radios only with uconnect. For sales code RBZ/REN/REZ touch screen radio and REU/REX/RE1 radio, refer to the separate User’s Manual. This feature allows you to plug an iPod mobile digital device into the vehicle’s sound system through a connector (UCI connector) using an optional connection cable (available through MOPAR). See your authorized dealer for details. Using this feature, • the iPod audio can be played on the vehicle’s sound system, providing metadata (Track Title, Artist, Album, etc.) information display on radio. • the iPod can be controlled using the radio buttons to Play, Browse and List the iPod contents. • The iPod battery charges when plugged into the UCI connector (if supported by the specific iPod device) Connecting The iPod Device Use the optional connection cable to connect an iPod to the vehicle’s UCI connector (which is located in the glove box or center console on some vehicles. This location may vary with vehicle). Once the iPod is connected and synchronized to the vehicle system (this may take a few seconds to connect), the vehicle brand logo appears on the iPod display, and it starts charging and is ready for use by pressing radio switches as described below. Controlling The iPod Using Radio Buttons To get into the UCI (iPod) mode and access a connected iPod, press the “AUX” button on the radio faceplate. Once in the UCI (iPod) mode, the iPod audio track (if available from iPod) will start playing over the vehicle audio system. Hope this helps. Maybe the other folks will be able to help as well. Also, I suggest you read your manual. If you do not have it, Google it. It is available as a PDF download for free from the internet. Good Luck. Peace.
  23. My 2011 did this. CC worked intermittently at first, then just stopped working altogether. Dealer initially replaced the steering wheel switch. Worked for about 1 day. Finally ended up replacing the SCCM (steering column control module). Has worked perfectly since. Maybe take it to your dealer and have them replace your SCCM. I got the feeling that the job was a little involved. Wouldn't want to have to pay for that after warranty ends. . . Good Luck. Peace.
  24. According to MGP, the covers are specific to the DJ. I too hope they work. Pics coming. I think they will really make the 19" wheels pop. Peace.
  25. I really have not tried the VC system to change iPod selections, but I did get the latest VC update and the system works much better. If you have not had that TSB applied, you could try that. Maybe that feature does not exist for 2011. Not sure. NUMBER: 08-023-11 REV. A GROUP: Electrical DATE: August 12, 2011 SUBJECT: FLASH: Hands Free Module Software Enhancements Peace.
