I've been interested for some time but no fitment until recently. They are now available for the 2009 - 2013 DJ. Just ordered mine. I'm hoping that they will reduce some of the brake dust that tends to accumulate on my wheels; especially the rear wheels. Anyway, I think they should look cool as well. Peace.

Thanks for all the help this forum and you good folks have provided. All the best in 2013. Peace.

Howdy from new Idaho 2012 Dodge Journey RT owner
redtomatoman replied to baldwinkw's topic in Welcome!
Your radio quirks are new to me. Post on the Infotainment section to see what others have to say. Maybe someone has had a similar problem and can give some input. Good luck. Peace. -
Ditto to this for me. I have found that the my dealer is as cheap if not cheaper than any oil change outfit out there. And they use mopar parts. And if they screw something up, I know it will be fixed correctly without any hassles. And, if there are any updates to be applied, I will have them do that at the same time. I plan to get the tranny TSB applied at my next oil change, for instance. Peace.

I commonly play mp3, m4a, wma, and similar formats via my iPod. I have noticed that audio CDs sound a little better. I'm not as computer savvy as some so I don't understand your comment above. The formats I refer to in this post are certainly "compressed". Are you saying that devices such as the iPod and thumb drives default to compressing those files even further unless you somehow specify otherwise? I'm not sure about apple products such as my iPod, but can I specify a less compressed save format somehow on my thumb drives and possibly my iPod? Peace.

Glad to hear your happier with your system. It seems these newer vehicles are so integrated that its best to just go with the highest trim manufacturer stock system and leave it alone. Just a comment on accessing door panels and such. . . I recently took everything out of my Dakota to apply the sound insulation adhesive stuff and I had thought about doing the same to the journey. I reconsidered b/c I am afraid that ripping into the panels and such would loosen tight factory tolerances that minimize squeaks and rattles. Not worth it to me. I wouldn't want to disassemble the door panels unless I was sure that I would get a great return for my risk of increasing rattles. Peace.

Yes. If oil changes are relevant to the warranty work and the dealer believes that the problems may have been caused by owner negligence. I keep a book of all my service receipts as well as those silly maintenance sheets from the manual. I actually have the dealer sign those things. I'm sure the service folks think I'm a car geek, but they show my effort to maintain my vehicle per the manufacturer's recommendations. I think all this service recording is a pain, but if I have it, I'll likely never need it. I'm sure, if I never made any effort to record any of my maintenance, regardless of how good my maintenance was, my DJ would burst into flames and I'd be arguing with the service folks, sans documentation, about who's gonna pay for the repairs. Peace.

Manifold tuning valve short I believe. Dealer visit is warranted. Peace.

There are aftermarket cruise control systems available but they generally do not have steering wheel controls. I have one for my Dakota. The controls are mounted lower on the dash. Adding controls to the steering wheel requires moving parts in the steering column. Peace.

Shuffle not random
redtomatoman replied to halofan.3's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
I believe that the shuffle is controlled by whatever player is playing the files. I'm not sure that the radio has anything to do with mp3 shuffle sequences. Correct me if I am wrong. Peace. -
Weird transmission pause and noise
redtomatoman replied to klingoff's topic in Engine & Transmission
Not sure about the sound but the 6 speed in the 3.6 hesitates in a similar way. I've decided it's normal for my JC, at least. It may be an ECM characteristic. If it makes you nervous take it in asap. Peace. -
Perfectly stated.

Didn't mean to touch a nerve. I think its important that no one tries to control the forum. DodgeCares and DodgeCares CA are awesome. All questions should be answered no matter what anyone else thinks. I hate getting no response to a post that I think is important. Peace.

I've been happy with the Alpine system in my 2011. Maybe they switched it up for the 2013 models? I listen to a lot of metal and also play a lot of mashups. I think those genres would expose any top, middle, or high end weakness. Or maybe my ears are not as refined as some. Peace.

Easy now. The forum is here for information to flow freely. I'm not aware of any written or implied rule that information cannot be repeated on a forum such as this. Just because you've seen it before doesn't mean it shouldn't be repeated in a current thread. Do I agree with RTFM? Yes absolutely. I read mine and managed to miss some stuff. All retorts such as this do is inhibit future questions for fear of being roasted by some forum regular. Peace.

those with fuel level issues
redtomatoman replied to b1pig's topic in Electrical, Battery & Charging
Thanks Chris! I'm hoping this also helps with my issue of inaccurate reading near Empty. Not only does my gauge not always read full, but I believe that it reads towards empty too soon. I'll have this done at my next oil change/service appointment. Peace. -
Key not detected
redtomatoman replied to walker's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Key Fobs, Locks & Remote Start
It will start. Guaranteed. If you have any doubt, take the battery out of the fob and try it. Peace. -
Hmmm. . . 9.1L/100km x 300km = 27.3 L. It does not matter how long it takes. If you use 22.74 L/300km your fuel consumption is 7.58 L/100km not 9.1/100. Not sure where 9.1L/hr came from in your calculation. The consumption is actually 10.92 L/hr It is a fact of physics that aerodynamic drag is the reason for increased engine work at higher speed i.e. lower fuel efficiency. Peace.

Sorry man. I'd be sad. I don't let anyone drive my JC nor my Dakota. Nobody actually wants to drive my Dakota except me though. LOL. Body shops can make everything good as new in no time. Best of luck. Peace.
-
The friction coefficient (wind drag) is higher at higher speed so fuel consumption is increased. Peace.
-
I'm generally the only driver of my JC so I'm not sure, but I think all doors open when I touch the handle on the driver's side. I believe there is a setting in the uconnect menu. Peace.
-
Wheel brake dust is mildly annoying, but I have to say that the uconnect ipod weirdness is the most annoying. Peace.

Congratulations. Lots of good info here. Welcome.

I think CR uses sound methodologies and bases their ratings on testing. BUT their testing is subjective, and CR certainly has their favorites. I feel that the subjective nature of their testing and their preconceived favorites do play a role in their final ratings. But the reason I posted the article is not because I have any issue with CR, they are entitled to their opinions. I found the article by Forbes interesting due to the fact that Forbes just used the CR reports to beat up on any vehicles that Forbes readers were unlikely to own. My gut feeling is that there are some vehicles, possibly even based on CR ratings, that were omitted. I could be wrong, but that was the feeling that I got. Peace.
