I've had it with this 2011 Journey and lack of service! (LONG POST)
redtomatoman replied to Dre's topic in Owner Impressions
If I understood your initial comment to be that the Journey has problems simply because it is built/assembled in Mexico, then I disagree strongly with that statement. That is Bullshit. Period. -
Who cares?!? 1967 1936? Big deal. Haters suck. C'mon Forbes, print your opinion for the best cars, the best caviar, the best golf bags, the Mercedes Jaguar shootout, but don't hate damnit. If you want to tell everyone that Jaguars are great and maintenance free, then feel free. Sounds like a great article. Forbes editors, please don't look down your nose at me and other journey owners like you're too good to drive a dodge. Dicks.

I'm sure this is a joke but leave the condescending $#!+ out. -

I'm also sorry for your problems. If feel your pain on the hate for the vehicle you love. Long story short, I went through some challenging times with my Dakota. I toughed it out now I'm glad I did. Best of luck to you. Peace. -
Posted the link to the article in Forbes under the Articles/Reviews section of the forum. Peace.

Here is the address of an article listing cars to avoid in Forbes magazine. I must be an idiot because I seem to like my 2011 DJ so far. Peace. http://www.forbes.com/pictures/ehmk45jeel/dodge-journey/

Amen Brother. Glad you're happy and glad to see your post. I have been happy with my 2011. Bought it in June 2011 and just turned 21000 miles. It has been a great road trip vehicle. Its funny, happened to be on the internet and saw an article about cars to stay away from. The DJ made the list. Forbes, I think. All I can say is that I couldn't disagree with that sentiment more. I have really enjoyed my journey and EVERYONE who rides in my journey is very impressed. No matter what they happen to drive. Peace.

Not sure how accurate the oil change reminder is. I believe the sensor somehow measures viscosity. I dunno. I use dino and change every 4-5 K miles. Peace.

ISSUES with 2012 Journey Radio and speakers-PLS HELP
redtomatoman replied to Ahart's topic in Welcome!
While I haven't had any problems with mine, I have heard about amplifier issues. Could also be speakers I suppose. Make the dealer replace until problem is corrected. Good Luck. Peace. -
those with fuel level issues
redtomatoman replied to b1pig's topic in Electrical, Battery & Charging
According to DodgeCares, it is a pending TSB. . . Can you communicate this issue to the engineers so we can get some movement on this issue? Peace. -
Not to be sarcastic, but I think it is important to not leave your DJ running if you do not intend it to be running. I have no idea if your observations are an intentional design feature (maybe for the factory?) or just an engineering oversight. Keep your fob on your person and make sure you always push the start button to kill the engine when you exit. If a driver does kill the engine, the engineers did make it more difficult to lock a fob in the car. This difference you point out here (locking the doors without a fob inside with the engine running) makes me think the engineers have allowed the driver some intellectual wiggle room; that the driver knows what he/she is doing and has intended to leave the vehicle running with the doors locked and the fob outside the vehicle. Treat your fobs like traditional keys and 99% of the time you will be fine. Killing the engine, I think, brings that percentage up to 100. I can't imagine that leaving another fob in the vehicle is a good idea. Peace.

I have to say that I have been pleasantly surprised with my mileage. Just turned 20 K miles. My last trip was about 950 miles with a mountain bike on the roof. Going, we were headed into a strong headwind. On the return trip, the wind had died (of course). We averaged 23mpg including some in town driving. Trips in my world almost always include something on the roof rack. I feel like the mountain bike reduces mileage by at least 1-2mpg, surfboard less. Peace

those with fuel level issues
redtomatoman replied to b1pig's topic in Electrical, Battery & Charging
Never did see a TSB released to this thread. The more I study my fuel filling routine, I almost feel the error, for me, may be the gauge. I filled my last few tanks at 1/4 left in the tank and got nowhere near 15 US gallons back into the tank even with gas refluxing onto my rear fender. I am beginning to think the gauge is registering towards empty too soon. I really don't know. . . I'd love to see the TSB so I could match up my symptoms with those in the TSB. Peace. -
UConnect 8.4n problems
redtomatoman replied to Dukeeluv's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
There is a VR flash update available. Just had it applied to my JC. VR is much better now. Search this forum. You should be able to find the TSB number. Peace. -
Nav screen goes blank
redtomatoman replied to doubleO7's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
I had an episode when my screen went blank. Turned off the ignition and restarted. Everything was fine after that. Only happened once and has never happened since. Never was able to explain it. Peace. -
Hi all- Took my JC into the service department for a flash update for my VR and found out that my vehicle was showing codes for cam phaser replacement. No symptoms prior to this. No issues whatsoever. Anyway, seems to run fine after replacement. Honestly, I don't notice any difference except my gas mileage was slightly lower on my trip to Vegas this weekend. Not sure if these need some break-in time. The slighty worse mileage could have been from a million different things though. They also incidentally found a leak in my thermostat housing which they replaced. My service manager told me that both the cam phasers and thermostat housing leak were common problems in their service department. Just wondering who has had these problems, specifically the cam phaser issue as I find this one a little odd. I took pics of the parts. Service manager told me they had not failed, they were just identified by the computer as faulty or in need of replacement. Peace.

Good luck. You've been more than patient. You deserve a new engine. Peace.

People suck! Aftermarker rims, yes, but I never knew that factory rims would be stolen. More of a case for a locking lug than not having nice rims. Sorry for your loss. Peace.

2011 LUX Navigation
redtomatoman replied to buffy340's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
I had a similar problem but only my cruise was affected. Steering column control module (sccm) was the problem. I do believe that is separate from the clock spring. Best of luck to you. Peace. -
Yes. Hardly any complaints for me. My only real beef is the Gracenote album art file. I wish the system would just display the album art in my iPod but it doesn't, it looks to Gracenote to supply the album art. I hate Gracenote anyway, but I'd at least like an update. From what I hear no plans to update. Still waiting, still hoping for an update. Other than that, I have been very happy with my JC: engine, interior, exterior, even brakes and tires have been good so far (although there are those who have had problems). Peace.

Which was your favorite? I have always had a thing for srt-4 vehicles. Loved the neons and almost bought a caliber. Decided on my 2011 JC instead. My other ride is a 91 'kota 4x4. Welcome. Peace.

I just tried using my VR for changing sirius stations and it seemed to understand as it repeated everything I said but proceeded to change to the wrong station. Is this due to a necessary flash update? Peace.

CD information
redtomatoman replied to lytefall's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
Can you as a customer service representative advocate for an update to be released? Just because everyone is not posting daily about the gracenotes deficiencies doesn't mean it isn't annoying many folks! It's not like this is a new idea. Ford,Toyota, and others release gracenote updates periodically. Dodge has a chance to be a hero here. I have spoken directly to the gracenote folks and issuing an update requires initiation from Chrylser/Dodge. I can't imagine its any more difficult than issuing any other system flash. Hell, just make it available for purchase!! What is Dodge's problem on this? We can get map updates but no gracenote updates? Makes no sense. Peace. -
I was looking into removing the headrests to have some embroidery done and after many questions and warnings, I gave up. Seemed too hard to me with the sensors and wires. I would recommend taking it to the dealer as my understanding is the headrest and airbags can deploy. Good luck. Peace.

if you want a cai for your journey please read!
redtomatoman replied to 2011sxt's topic in Accessories, Modifications
I'm not trying to convince anyone of anything. Do what you want. . . I have no vested interest. As I stated, I've decided that I really don't want a CAI right now. If I do decide to get a CAI, I will likely go with the mopar part. I was just trying to help. Stickers are cool. I agree. Peace.
