  1. I would simply try replacing the battery to see if that solves the problem. It may be that battery, and hence, the signal are low. I would try that as its the easiest possible solution. If the error continues, I would take it for service. Good luck. Peace.
  2. Sorry for all the posts in a short period of time. I keep thinking about this after I hit Post. Clearly the mopar part mentioned above has an application list that included the DJ. Once the dealer goes to install it, if all the parts are not there, they will be expected to make it work since they are the installer and mopar clearly states it should work for your application. Although I have no crystal ball, the odds are in your favor. How can you the consumer control what mopar claims on its application lists? Anyway, best of luck to anyone who gets a CAI. Post pics. Let us know how it is working. Maybe I'll reconsider. Peace.
  3. I have decided that I don't really need a CAI so I'm a little out of the loop as of late. The K&N CAI systems for similar applications that I saw were anywhere for 250 USD to 300 USD. Cheaper, yes. Reasonable? No. I think the mopar part designation is a set that is sold together and includes parts that may not all be utilized for every application. At least that was my assumption when I was more seriously researching the CAI thing. I'm not sure so a call to your dealer or mopar would be indicated. Even if it doesn't work perfectly, I feel certain that minimal modification would give you the result you're looking for. Anyway, if you want a K&N, they will probably come out with something. You just have to send messages :stats: and wait :waiting: . But the up side of the K&N is that you get a super cool window sticker!! :hysterical2: Just trying to help those who want a CAI. Peace.
  4. Oh, it is possible but one has to be determined. On the third attempt to lock the fob in the car using the door buttons the DJ will comply and lock them in. You can also physically push the locks on the door down one by one and the doors will lock with the fob inside. I have to lock my fob in the DJ when I go surfing alone. I had a regular key made that i can take into the water. I haven't found a way to not engage the alarm. I have to put the fob in the door so I can grab it quickly after I open the door. Peace.
  5. Complain to Dodge for an update. They need to release a gracenote update. Gracenote cannot do a thing until Dodge moves on this issue. At least that's my understanding. Peace.
  6. I did a little more snooping around on eBay. The avenger mopar CAI looks like it may be even closer to a correct configuration. Again, not sure why one of those wouldn't work with some modifications. Peace.
  7. OK. I stand corrected. I don't know much about CAI systems. The configuration of the 3.6L mopar CAI for the wrangler looks like it would work with the location of the airbox in the journey. Being a mopar part that connects to the same engine that we have in the journey, I would assume that it would bolt on fine. Or, at least bolt on with minimal modification. There may be some limitation that I am unaware of. Not sure. I believe there are folks that have fabricated custom CAI systems for the journey. I think that one could start with the mopar CAI and get it to work easily. I doesn't seem that complicated. Peace.
  8. Good point Dude. I just rotated mine for the second time 2 days ago. I'm sure that has contributed to the good wear thus far. Peace.
  9. Oh, and one more thing. . . I think the mopar CAI looks cool as hell. Really completes the look, IMHO. Peace.
  10. If u guys really want a CAI, why not just get the mopar CAI? You can have the dealer install it and it will never be blamed for any future problems like non-dealer installed mods. Or at least if it is, you still have the mopar part and dealer install to back u up. If I get a CAI, I'm definitely going mopar even if it costs more up front. I prefer the peace of mind. Peace.
  11. Be sure to have the dealer check the vibration. As for fuel consumption, mine improved a lot when I reached 8000 miles. Good luck.

    2011 Crew

I have been very happy with my 2011 DJ. Hopefully you will be too. These things have some gittyup. I love taking it over 100 MPH. That's like 4000 KPH for all u Canadian folks. ;-) Best of luck to you and your DJ. Peace.
  13. Probably for the best. I don't tow, but not only is the truck better suited for towing, it very likely safer for everyone. The Journey is for being able to tote people and gear around while still being able to rip around a little and get into those engine notes! Ya know what I mean? :shades: Peace.
  14. So, let me get this right. . . You won't buy a dodge ever again just because you had a bad experience with one set of tires? Do what you want but I'd say that's a little limiting. Kumhos may be the cheap crappiest tires going. Dunno. I haven't yet seen any kumho mass recall, though. I'm not defending kumho, as I'm not a tire expert, but so far they have been pretty good on my 2011 DJ; 18K miles and they look great. My set of kumhos, at least, have been a smooth driving tire without balancing issues and seem pretty grippy. Best of luck with your next set. Peace.
  15. That sound may by your antilock brakes activating. I have activated mine only once and it was a freakin' death defying emergency, so I don't remember what they sounded like or if they made any weird noises. The antilock brakes on my wife's car do make some odd noises. My understanding is that is normal. If you think there's a problem, take it to your dealer asap. Peace.
  16. I have to applaude this. . . Customer Service. This isn't even my problem, but I Thank You! I hope if I ever get in a position that I need a friend on the inside someone steps in on my behalf. Dodge is building great cars, but Dodge needs more of this. I had my local Dodge dealer deliver my vehicle to my work after a service recently, outstanding. I love that!!!! Small gesture, but means so much to me as a customer. It also helps if my vehicle is reliable, but I understand that no vehicle is perfect. Peace.
  17. My 2011 DJ has about 17,000 miles. I have the 3.6L engine. Not sure if it has any oil consumption issues. Good luck with your meeting. Peace.
  18. I'm sorry you are not getting the attention to your problem that you feel you deserve. I really know nothing about engine oil consumption. I did a Google search for normal engine oil consumption and found consumer experience all over the place. Some engines don't use a drop while others use 1 liter per 1500 miles. I did see your industry standards in many places. If you're unhappy I think you have to ditch the DJ. I wish you luck with your next vehicle as the oil consumption varied over all makes and models according to the search results that I got. I still personally think you should get a new engine. I'd think Chrysler would want it for r&d. I think I echo your feelings: engines should not use any oil, they should retain the oil as a lubricant. Oil is not supposed to be a combustible component of internal combustion. I know I'd feel the same way if I had to add oil with each tank of gas. So far my DJ has not been using oil and I hope it stays that way. Again, best of luck to you. Peace.
  19. Just read a quick review of the 2013 DJ, and I keep seeing a cooled glovebox indicated as a feature of the DJ. I know that was a prominent feature of the '09 and '10 models, but I thought it was no longer true for '11, '12, and upcoming '13 models. I have not explored this by sticking my hand in the glovebox while the A/C is on; just wondering. . . I'm inclined to think that the author was just too lazy to write his own review and just copied and pasted from another review that was just previously copied and pasted from a 2010 review. Peace.
  20. I agree. Who wants to do brakes every year? I feel like that will not be the case. My question is this: why did you not demand to see the brakes and intensely query the tech as to reason they were worn out? Why just the rear brakes? I would have asked to see the front brakes too. Brakes worn out in 16000 km sounds nearly impossible. Do you rest you foot on the brake pedal? Did you have them check the parking brake? I feel like the pads could be faulty or the calipers malfunctioning. If you got a rotation, did the tech just grossly overtorque your wheels and massively warp your rotors? I hope you do make them justify their claim with some physical evidence and a plausible theory corroborated by that physical evidence. I hate seeing customers get duped. Not saying you got duped, but I sincerely hope they are not sweeping something under the rug. Peace.
  21. Whoops! Tried to quote. Your dealer seems like a real Wheeler Dealer. Just tell the customer what is most convenient for the dealer and hope they go away, right? Only a non-caring, non-customer service oriented chump could just shrug and cease to fire any neurons! That sort of $#!+ makes my blood boil. Chrysler would benefit from trimming fat such as these folks. Peace.
  22. Not sure. It seems to me that if the GPS info is available, synchronization of the clock makes perfect sense. Not to sound callous, but check your owner's manual to see if this is possible. Peace.
  23. Not sure about the doors rattling, maybe some insulation would help or new door speakers that can handle the bass better than the stock alpines? As for the skipping, maybe the TSB below would help you. It says CD and applies to the 4.3 radio, but you could bring this to the dealers attention. I would take your DJ to the dealer and complain. You should also record the skipping behavior so that you are sure that the tech knows what he is trying to fix. You may need a new radio or new amplifier. Not sure. Peace. TSB NUMBER: 08-048-11 REV.
