I just spent the $$ to upgrade the map in my 2011. Steep fee. While I agree with you about purchasing, I do notice that these companies have no problem bending the consumer over the barrel on a regular basis. Additionally, when I bought my 2011, the salesman told me that the map updates via the GPS automatically with no need to purchase future updates. Obviously, that was complete nonsense, but at the time I had no reason to doubt that guy. Anyway, here I am giving money to Garmin for map updates. Peace.

sounds like a different issue. if it keeps happening sounds like an electrical or computer issue for the dealer. good luck. Peace.

This project sounds difficult to me, but have you thought about switching your Journey steering wheel for a Charger wheel with the paddle shifters? I feel certain you could get one from mopar. Not sure about compatibility, but you would have the newer style wheel and OEM shifters already on the wheel. Then you should be able install your kit minus the kit shifters. I'm assuming you already asked the dealer and they said it was not possible. Good Luck. Peace.

I keep seeing these: http://dodgeforum.com/articles/2012/06/dodge-journey-srt6-coming-in-2013.html I can't help but hold a small ray of hope. Peace.

OK. So I guess there is no SRT Journey in the works. Too bad. I think it's a great idea and could have been cool. It was interesting while it lasted. Peace.

Thank you Sir, can I have another? http://www.topspeed.com/cars/dodge/2014-dodge-journey-srt6-ar130605.html Peace.

Time will tell. Maybe the unfounded Chrysler insiders have dismissed the real discussions? I've got no idea if there will be a Journey SRT or not, but it certainly sounds cool to me. If there is one, it makes sense to be introduced with the new platform. It is only the engine we are talking about here. It's not like the Journey is going to remain the same forever. It's also not like the retooled Journey has to be all SRT or nothing. Anyway, I'd trade up. Just to outrage the mopar purists. Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha! Peace.

I also found this: http://www.torquenews.com/106/high-performance-dodge-journey-srt6-works-perhaps-twin-turbo-power I think a Journey SRT 6 is a real possibility. As Journey owners, we know it drives well. We all love how the Journey drives with 283hp, and it would drive just as well with 400+hp. I think the SRT Journey fills a void that the Magnum left behind. Besides these SRT engineers love to design new stuff. The magnum is just another hemi V8. The 6 is something almost new, only tried in the Chrysler Crossfire. Twin turbos, AWD, and the element of surprise. I think all the mopar purists will be outraged. It'll be great!!! Especially when a Journey drops their V6 Challenger like its in reverse. . . Peace.

Shudda waited Bitch! A twin turbo SRT 6 Journey is on tap for the near future. Wouldn't it be cool if the twin turbo was a bolt on option for the current Pentastar? http://pibimam.wordp...e-durango-dies/ Peace.

Not sure exactly what is going on. The dash lights should never go completely dark, I don't think. The first thing I would do is check Uconnect settings to see if you have the option of headlights with wipers enabled. If so, when you turn on your wipers, your headlights also come on and dim your dash lights and touch screen. Also, the dimmer switch on the bottom left controls the dash light level. Make sure its in the first notch from the top otherwise your dash will stay bright all the time. Annoying at night. When in the first notch, turning on your headlights will dim dash for night time comfort. Peace.

Although I was unsuccessful at removing the headrests due to warnings of airbag risks by DodgeCares, I finally did figure out how to get the center console out. I subsequently had that embroidered with the Journey and R/T logos. Looks pretty sweet. Nice way to take the interior up a notch. I have uploaded images of the console both before and after installation in my Journey. I am out of file space to attach images to a post. The images can be found in my redtomatoman photo album. Anyone interested in embroidery can contact Jina's Sew Simple Embroidery. Email address and an album of their work is below (couldn't figure out how to paste the hyperlink into the post - just paste into your email or browser address line). Jina and Rick are absolutely great people who do great embroidery work. I couldn't be happier with the way the console came out! They worked with my all the way through the project as I created my own custom Journey logo design that they were able to recreate on my console. This project is the first Journey they have embroidered. They can do almost anything. . . The only catch is that they have to be able to uninstall the upholstery. I wanted to do my headrests but it did not seem possible. Peace. jinasse@sbcglobal.net http://s135.photobuc...s/q150/jinasse/

EVIC Nav display
redtomatoman replied to redtomatoman's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
Hmmm. . . Mine does not seem to correspond with the navigation voice. I will keep using it to see how it behaves and post an update. I am thinking that maybe some sort of flash update is needed because the EVIC is kinda unuseful the way it has been behaving. Peace. -

Ok. After navigating a few more places. The display works but it seems to only show up literally 5 seconds before the turn. Is there a way to have the next turn info stay in the EVIC the whole time rather than reverting back to the speedo or previous setting between turns? Thanks. Peace. -

Yes. The EVIC between the speedo and tach. Sometimes the turn by turn directions appear and sometimes not. I did select that option in settings. I can't figure it out. Any help is appreciated. Peace. -
I always see folks posting that they have the "build sheet" and it says suchandsuch. . . What does a build sheet look like? Should I have gotten one when I took delivery of my Journey? I did keep the dealer window sheet. Is that the same? Folks also use a lot a acronyms that I have a hard time following; RB5, JC, whatever. Maybe these are on the build sheet? What do folks use their build sheet for? Anyway, I'd like to get my build sheet if it would be useful but I don't know how to go about it. I suppose if its still available, I'd need my VIN. Peace.

2012 audio problems
redtomatoman replied to blazzinbird's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
Don't blame you, but with all the electronics in our Journeys there can be many problems. I got my Journey and within 3 months, I was back because my cruise control didn't work. Some little electronic gizwidget in the steering wheel was the culprit and not the cruise control itself. Technology can create as many problems as it solves. I think you just gotta roll with it. Peace. -
Nope. When I turn off Gracenote in my 2011, I get no album art. I have not gone the extra mile to be sure that my album art is absolutely correct like generaltso, but I do have album art on all my iPod files. I can live without album art so it doesn't make me crazy, but if album art would show reliably, it would be super cool. Instead, the stereo system is just adequate. It plays music and sounds good. When I turn Gracenote on, I get some album art, but some of my file names are goofy and some music is listed incorrectly. For me, I'd rather be able to reliably use the music search function in Uconnect instead of having occasional album art. Play with your stereo. If you discover anything, please let us all know. Minimally, a Gracenote update is needed from Chrysler. The solution to this problem is to update the Uconnect software to use the image information within the music files unless the Gracenote option is selected by the user. I'm no computer programmer, so I don't know how difficult that is. BUT, from the user's prospective, that is the solution to this problem. Chrysler is aware of the problem and the user complaints. Hopefully they are working on a solution. And hopefully, that solution will be applicable to our "older" Uconnect systems and not just for the new models. Time will tell. Until then, I have an adequate stereo system. Overall, I love my Journey though. Peace.

Any progress or updates on your oil consumption? Peace.

Interesting. Of course, this article is only one opinion. I'm sure K&N would challenge the article. I have always had a completely unsubstantiated visceral feeling that the K&N filters were not worth the $$. I have always used paper, and just changed when dirty. Unless I read the article incorrectly, the AC Delco seems like the best filter. Searched the AC Delco site and found no 2011 Dodge Journey filters. Peace.

Has anyone had experience removing the headrests? From what I understand, the battery has to be disconnected so that some airbag light does not come on. What does that mean? Hopefully an airbag is not going to deploy. Is this light something the dealer has to turn off? If I do remove the headrests, should I not reconnect the battery until the headrest is reinstalled? Also, can the 2nd row headrests be removed using the same procedure as the front headrests? Peace.
