OK. My 2 cents. . . I am not a real tech needy guy. I just started playing with the VR features of my 2011 R/T. I have the 8.4 Nav. First , the VR for the phone works great. Second, It would be nice to have a "Navigate to. . . " command. I personally don't need any other VR features. Given the above disclaimer, I am still really confused about the level of disappointment regarding VR control of music. To me, its sort of like needing to control your TV with VR rather than reaching for the remote. I do understand that there are times when searching for an artist on the touchscreen is dangerous, but one should ask themselves the question, "Should I really be trying to change my music right at this time when my driving situation requires so much of my attention that I cannot even navigate the browse function on the screen safely?" The other thing I can't understand is 2012 envy. Every single year, vehicles come with some upgrades. 2012 is no different. The functionality of the 2012 does not seem that much better. For us 2011 drivers, this is the way I see it: Change your music on the screen when its safe. If you really need Nav, pull over, spend 1 minute entering your Nav data, and arrive safely without damaging your Journey or, God Forbid, harming your family as you rear-end a garbage truck. I am not condoning false advertising nor mis-information in owner's manuals, but things are how they are. Overall, I commend Chrysler for the 2011 Uconnect system as well as improving functionality for the 2012. IMHO, the 2011 Journey glass is not only 1/2 full, its 95/100 full. Peace.

I have a plastic charger R/T emblem on my 2011 honeycomb grille. Assuming the 2012 and 2011 are the same, it should fit. The minor problem that I encountered was the curvature of the grille. I have no idea what year my R/T emblem is from, just that it is for a charger. There may be different emblems out there depending on the year. I had to heat mine up and bend it in the middle to match the more curved journey grille. Seems to fit fine, though. Looks Kool! Good Luck. Peace.

When you say mechanic, do you mean dealer mechanic? The dealer should fix the problem to your satisfaction. If it continues to happen, the problem is not fixed IMO. Post a pic.

Give it a few days to dry out fully. I had this happen to one of my pagers. After 3 days, it just started working again. Dunno. I'm afraid that you will need a new one though.

My experience with the Ford Sync system is that it is S L O W. It may or may not have the iPod initiation issue, but all other functions are stuck trying to swim through peanut butter rather than being lightning fast like Uconnect. Unless you are constantly messing around with your library, you should be ok. Peace.

OK, here's what I have experienced. . . Your Uconnect system will connect to your iPod every time. The Uconnect system needs about 30 seconds per gigabyte to do whatever it does. My 30 gig iPod takes about 12 minutes to initialize whenever I update it. If I do not update my iPod, the Uconnect system seems to recognize it right away, even when the iPod has been out of the vehicle. Not sure what the system does with my music files and such, but it seems to want to scan through my library before allowing me to browse. Weird. I would assume that yours would take up to 30 minutes to update. Mine starts playing Sound Garden when it initializes, so I just enjoy those songs until its ready. The iPod connectivity is the one weakness in the Uconnect system. All else works to my satisfaction, and it is lightning fast. Here's how I view this whole thing. . . So the iPod doesn't work as smooth as butter, so what?!? I only use my iPod for long trips, and 12 minutes without my iPod is just fine. I use the snot out of my satellite radio. Absolutely love that! If that's not how you choose to view this, then I would say your easiest answer is to utilize mp3 CDs which can hold a good amount of music or utilize your SD card reader slot. You can put up to 64 gigs of music on an SD card and never have to worry about connecting your iPod. Acceptance is the first step. It gets easier. Once you know what to expect, hopefully you won't be so pissed. Your Journey is awesome. Yes, there are some quirks, but believe me, new technology is not all parties and happy parades in other cars either. Even BMW and Mercedes dealers have service departments, and they are always full! I'm sure dodge is aware of the problems and patient satisfaction issues with the iPod. Hopefully there will be further updates for the connectivity issue that you bring up. Peace.

I have the same color. Stunning. I've had mine since June and I get around 23 mpg on the highway, around 18mpg in town. I'm no hot rod'er, though. I have to respectfully disagree with the manual shift mode. I like it. If you need to beat that car next to you at the red light, use the manual shift just like a manual transmission. I also commonly use the manual shift for passing. Get behind the car you need to pass in 4th, then drop that baby into 3rd for a roaring burst of power. So far I really like my Journey. I hope the reliability is as good as my 1991 Dakota has been. Time will tell. Enjoy yours. Peace.

I'm interested in tapping into the potential of the 3.6L Pentastar. What are peoples feeling regarding programming, Dyno Tuning, superchips and those sorts of ECM performance mods? I don't even really know the difference, honestly. I'm interested in modest gains in MPG, HP, and throttle response. The challenger 3.6 Pentastar puts out 305 HP. I'm assuming that difference is due to a combo of air intake and ECM changes to that engine because the heart and soul of that car is the same as our mild mannered Journey. I don't normally drive fast, but when I want to or need to, I'd appreciate just a touch more giddy up. Peace.

Don't be a hater jimbocoles. No one likes a hater. Especially me. Take any first year model from any company and you'll find that reliability is an issue as unforeseen problems are dealt with. Unfortunately for Dodge, the '09s and '10s have problems. I have a 2011 Journey and I have nothing but good things to say about it. All cars break down, all cars have problems. Brakes is a major one, I agree, but Dodge has since brought TSBs and recalls for those problems. I'm certainly not a Chrysler executive posting here so I can't be sure, but I don't recall any issues with brakes failing, just wearing quickly. If your brakes are bad, do the right thing; get your brakes replaced so your wife and kids are safe. I have a 1991 Dakota 4x4 with 212K that is still going strong. I beat the crap out of it every weekend. I routinely pass other vehicles stuck or broken down on back roads. Rather than hate, I help them out. Return your 2009 and get a 2011 if you like the other features of your Journey. I think you'll find that there is, indeed, a big difference. Please no more name calling or conspiracy theories. . . I agree. The Journey has many things going for it, but I think the Uconnect 8.4 is one of the best. I'll bet that Dodge will have the 8.4 available. It makes no sense not to. Now I have to say. . . If I had a rockin' fast Challenger I'd opt for no screen. Kind of ruins the throw-back era effect of the car for me. Peace.

Just for fun I logged onto the Dodge website to see what the 2012s were like, and I can't seem to build one on the site with Uconnect 8.4. Not sure if this is just a website thing or whether the 8.4 is no longer available in the Journey (being reserved for the higher priced cars like the Challenger and Ram). I know the prices of the Journey were lowered for the 2012 models, but did they do it by eliminating the 8.4 Uconnect? Hope not. . . Peace.

Has anyone learned anything about the new mopar mods that adorn the 300HP 2011 avenger rally car? Below are some of the specs of the rally car. Dodge Pentastar 3.6-liter V-6 engine Mopar tower-to-tower cross-car brace Mopar cold-air intake Mopar Cat-Back Exhaust w/Magneti Marelli tips Mopar/Magneti Marelli high-performance ECU with TC, DBW, V V T So far, mopar has been developing a widely available CAI for the 3.6L pentastar in some vehicles, but has left the Journey off their list of compatibility. Not sure if that is due to engine compartment space or actual compatibility (sensors, ECU, etc) I am cautiously interested in the CAI due to water concerns, but the ECU and exhaust mods sound great. Anyway, just wondering if anyone has seen anything. . . Peace.

I can't remember the exact manufacturer, but Autoxclusive sounds familiar. Anyway, the bumper cover evidently fits the '09 and '10 rear fascia. I guess the front and rear fascias changed ever so slightly for the '11 model. When I put mine on, it almost fit, but it was too deep, meaning it had a 1/4 inch gap all along the rear edge of the bumper. That gap would have been perfect for snagging all sorts of things and I believe the cover would have eventually snagged something to tear it off. It also didn't fit snug enough along the right and left sides of the bumper. I think I paid $139.00 USD for the thing so I wasn't about to modify it to fit correctly and then run the risk of it coming off prematurely. I only paid $42.00 USD for the caliber cover. I think the caliber version is a good compromise. I only installed it yesterday, so I will have to see how it weathers. The caliber cover comes with two strips of the 3M adhesive, but I put on some extra 3M automotive tape to help adhere it more securely. The surface of the '11 model bumper is not flat, so I wanted to be sure I got as much adhesive tape on the thing as possible. Still no guarantee though. I wish the original Journey cover would have fit because it would have looked better and offered more protection, but I wasn't happy with the satisfaction to price ratio. Hope that helps. Peace.
