  1. The first thing I would do is to be sure there wasn't any spills or other events that you are not being told about. If that isn't it, then I would purchase some pet odor eliminator and use that everywhere that could possibly be the source of the odor. If it is urine, that will eliminate it. It will likely eliminate other odors as well. Hopefully that will do the trick. BTW this isn't a known issue or anything. Something happened in your DJ in the last week to cause this. I hope the pet odor stuff works, but it would also behoove you to figure out how this occurred. Best of luck to you. Peace.
  2. I didn't realize that fuel pumps were not covered. What about other pumps such as water pump or oil pump? Not covered? I haven't read my extended warranty for a while, but I remember it saying something along the lines of anything mechanical is covered. I'm surprised. Peace.
  3. Anything can go out at any time. That's what warranties are for. Good luck. Peace.
  4. Umm. . . I absolutely do. Peace.
  5. Ok. I'm not a mechanic. Just sayin. BUT. . . Junior102 is correct. A thermostat regulates the flow of coolant through the engine and radiator. A faulty thermostat condition depends on whether it is stuck open or closed. A stuck open thermostat will allow coolant to circulate through the radiator and the engine will not overheat (assuming all other cooling components are working). A stuck open thermostat will not allow quick engine warmup. A thermostat stuck closed will cause engine overheating as the coolant WILL NOT be able to flow through the radiator and engine. When an engine is cold the thermostat will be closed. When an engine is at operating temperature the thermostat will be open. That's basic engine cooling 101. Peace.
  6. Its the opposite. Running without a thermostat, the cooling system is always open. The cooling system works by circulating when the thermostat is open. Circulating fluid takes heat from the engine and it gets cooled in the radiator. The thermostat is closed when the engine is cold to prohibit circulation and allow the engine to warm up faster. The thermostat will open at a predetermined temperature, begin circulation, and allow the cooling system to maintain that temperature. Running without one just inhibits the engine from warming up quickly on initial start. Keep in mind, a faulty thermostat that does not open will cause overheating because the fluid will never circulate through the engine. Peace.
  7. Great review of your experience. I have been very happy with my DJ too. I got the unlimited miles warranty as well. I hope I never need to use it, but I have it. I have to agree with the transmission complaint. Like you said, not a problem, but more response and better shift points would be nice. I mostly hate the acceleration lag in drive. I go into manual when I know I need power. Overall great vehicle, IMHO. Peace.
  8. So I drove from NM to California. Staying at the beach to do some surfing and fishing. Got into the DJ early this morning and all 4 tires were at 29. Temp was about 55F. Not cold. Didn't come back up with a short drive. Added air this afternoon. Seems ok now. What happened? Thanks. Peace.
  9. I certainly don't have any info, but think about things linked to the accelerator. Intake certainly. Also, exhaust and drive train components come to mind. I think you can rule out brakes and wheel components. I would doubt engine if the sound clearly seems to be coming from the rear. Exhaust and drive train is what I would check first. Good luck. Peace.
  10. Have you tried simply re-updating your system again? Maybe something happened in the update that made the acutal english language file nonfunctional. Just trying the same update again may be useful. If you can obtain the same update from a different source, that may be good to do if the original file was somehow corrupted. As always, I would try certainly unhooking the battery for about 30 mins to see how the system behaves after that. Good luck. Peace.
  11. I agree. The DJ is one of the best looking crossovers IMO. The more I think about this thread, the more I get pissed. F#*K consumer reports. The DJ review is completely off the mark. What does that say about their other reviews? Peace.
  12. Trade it in. The 4 is a good engine, but it's anemic. The 6 rocks. There isn't a way to get more power without major $$ and time. You can trade it in an afternoon and spend less. Peace.
  13. I'm on a surf trip in El Salvador. I caught the wave of the day. 3 feet overhead. Slayed it for 100+ yards! That made me smile today. Peace.
  14. I believe that it's a sensor. These DJs have so many sensors. I'm not a mechanic but this sounds like some sensor that is misbehaving. Air-fuel or some transmission sensor? Peace.
  15. How did consumer reports recruit so many mopar haters into one place? While the DJ is not perfect, neither is any other vehicle. I really like mine. Still runs like the day it came home from the dealer. My mileage has been pretty darn good. In New Mexico, speed limits are 75 mph on the highway, winds are often quite strong, the elevation is nearly 7000 ft, and there are plenty of hills; I still get 23-26 mpg. . . That's even with roof cargo such as bike. Consumer reports really is unfair and unknowledgeable. Peace.
  16. I have a 2011 and I have had a good experience with mine. The V6 and I4 engines are similar in efficiency. The I4 engine is fine. I have the small calipers and have replaced the pads with aftermarket EBC brake pads. The brakes stop strong. I haven't replaced the calipers. I have no idea what you mean about the steering wheel. It steers the car perfectly. The 8.4 upgrade is possible, but too much trouble, IMO. If you want the Uconnect experience, get a new DJ or one that already has what you want. I don't think there will be a problem getting mopar parts for that DJ. I'm not aware of any specific issues with the I4 DJs, but I'm sure others will chime in. Good Luck. Peace.
  17. It certainly does not sound normal. Mine does nothing like that. If you don't think it was the road, then I'd get the DJ back to the dealer asap. I'd ask to return the vehicle and get another one. I've heard of test drives longer than 200 miles so an exchange is certainly not crazy. Who knows? Maybe it is something simple and an easy fix. Good Luck. My 2011 has been a great car. I hope yours turns out that way too! Peace.
  18. Have a dealer check the clock spring and/or SCCM in the steering column. That's where I'd start. Peace.
  19. I think you answered your own question. It's not much of an inconvenience. . . I would think your 2017 crossroad probably has a lot of niceties that you didn't have on your civic, just not the walk away lock feature. I am correct? As long as you are happy with the other aspects of your DJ, you'll get used to having to push the button when you leave the vehicle, it will become habit, and you'll forget all about the locking feature. Peace.
  20. I have noticed this same thing. I always try to keep a clean filter in my vehicles. I have a 91 dakota that not only gets better mileage but idles smoother with a new clean air filter. I change the filter every 6 months in my DJ. Still runs like the day I brought it home. I usually get 19-21 in town. I live at almost 7000ft elevation so I think a dirty filter affects performance slightly more here. Not sure. Peace.
  21. Others will likely chime in, but I don't think seat covers are recommended, generally, due to the seat side airbags and active headrests. I have been hesitant to install them for that reason. Peace.
  22. I have a 2011 and it has been a solid vehicle. It is not my daily driver so I cannot comment on the daily grind sorts of wear and tear, but it still runs like the day I brought it home with 60,000+ miles on it. I think one simple rule to avoiding a lot of problems is to let the DJ idle down to below 1000rpm before shifting or driving. It takes 20-30 seconds. Definitely get the extended warranty to cover any problems, especially electronics. Peace.
  23. I started my DJ, pulled it out of the garage, and shut it off. A few minutes later, I noticed a small wet spot under the center of the vehicle. Looked like water dripping from the central exhaust pipe. Anyone else's DJ do this? I figure its better to drip rather than holding onto the moisture, but I've never noticed this previously. Maybe its because I ran it for such a short time and things were not warm. I'm not worried, just wondering. . . My drain holes at the back of the exhaust system drip with fair frequency as well. Peace.
  24. I have been quite happy with my 2011. I had the cylinder #2 misfire which has been corrected with a new left side head. I also had a cam phaser replaced. The motor still runs like the day I brought it home. The brakes are smaller than newer models. I replaced my pads with ebc greenstuff pads and rotors with ebc drilled and slotted rotors. They stop strong. No signs of any warping. I had the sccm in the steering column replaced bc my cruise control was wonky. No problems with that over the last 4 years. That's it I think. As far as AWD, there is no difference between dodge AWD and other AWD systems as far as tires are concerned. Size matters. Lots of electronics. Not sure how that's different from the others. I have the extended warranty. Peace.
